Issue:

Brazilian model Ana Carolina Reston died in November at age 21. She was 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighed just 88 pounds, for a BMI of 13.4!

Belief:

N.Y. is considering banning ultrathin fashion models. Council member Gail Brewer wants fashion houses to ban any model with a body mass index of less than 18.5 -- the cutoff for the World Health Organization's definition of "normal."

Although the fashion industry should be free to do as they please, in some cases, they should not. This is the case with the many models who are extremely underweight. These models set a horrible example for many people (especially teenage girls) and ultimately, a very unattainable goal for many. Not only are they extremely malnourished, but they are also endangering their own lives, Ana Carolina Reston being only one example of the sad fate this may lead to. Do not get me wrong, it is okay to have thin models, but models with a BMI below 18.5 is just ridiculous because it is just unhealthy.

Leave the fashion houses alone. It should be their decision who they want to represent their collections. This might cause some models to develope eating disorders, but that is their choice. I know because i've suffered annorexia before.

It's bad enough with airbrush mania, without them trying to make models look that deformed in the first place, I reckon

Being a model is co0l..When we hear the word model our concepts, they are tall, good looking and thin but too much thin is not good. As a model they are very conscious on their weight and body figure. A lot of model harm their health through dieting too much. I idolize model so much most specially in fashion and foods because tha's my interests..hehehe...
