Basic Human Rights for Kids!!!Forum Discussion for Basic Human Rights for Kids!!! Submitted by annie h. on Sat, 11/15/2008 - 03:29
I hear what you are saying and have felt this way for years. Legislating parenthood is one of the reasons there is so much child abuse today, the feds are afraid to touch the issue of children as 'parental property' I AGREE that all people should be listened to, cared for, loved, nurtured. everyone needs a voice, whether they are a child or an elderly person (another forgotten group) I would encourage you to seek out a counselor at school as soon as you can for direction. ask if they can help you and refer you to a mentoring program who can help you with some of the day to day questions you have in communicating your needs and feelings that you're not getting at home. In addition, consider joining a youth program, through your local church. You are young and your life is worth it. My little brother was in a similar position at your age, (my Mother was very ill and being treated for cancer) and he fell to the wayside quite a bit. I'll keep you in my prayers too. my email is a nnie.hamilton@gmail.com and you can contact me at any time. people care about you. at some point, children will have a stronger voice, perhaps you can be a part of that. just the fact that you're speaking out, rather than internalizing it, indicates volumes about your character. I wish you alot of luck and hope you'll be ok. Submitted by jennifer g. on Wed, 11/12/2008 - 23:38
I will tell you like I tell my children, It is not a free world, until you get a job, house, car, etc. It is my world. Submitted by Corrina T. on Thu, 10/16/2008 - 23:38
Oh-and you do have the basic human rights. You have the right to food and shelter, etc. Voting, going where you want, etc are not basic. Submitted by Corrina T. on Thu, 10/16/2008 - 23:36
I am 14, and I think us kids need adults. I have done my fair share of stupid things in my life, and while I think kids can have good insight to some problems, we aren't yet mature enough to know what's going on in polictics and vote. Adults teach you how to grow up. I would be lost-and you would be to-without my parents. Submitted by Allie J. on Fri, 09/26/2008 - 18:09
You have to understand your parents are only trying to protect you and do whats best for you. But if you want to be treated as an adult and make your own descions as an adult, then you have to do adult things, like have a job, pay bills, balance a checkbook, make sure you have a roof over your head, things like that, being an adult is not all fun and games, most adults wish they were kids again, enjoy your time, cause trust me right now it might not seem like it, but you'll grow up fast and when you become an adult your gonna wish that you were a kid again. When you become an adult and are responsible for what you do then you can make your own choices but right now you are not the one held responsible if you do something wrong it is your parents. You are right you are not a property you are the child. Every adult has gone through what you are now and they had to deal with just like you do. Even as an adult you have rules that you must follow. You have others telling you what to do. Loading People... |
