Description:

We, the undersigned, want to see Larry Mendte return to network news in Philadelphia.

After receiving his sentence of six months house arrest, community service and a $5,000 fine for illegally reading the e-mails of his former co-anchor, Alycia Lane, Larry stated, "From the beginning I took responsibility for what I did and I knew there was going to be a punishment," he said. "I never shirked my responsibility. I am going to relish the second chance, and I am going to do everything to earn back the respect and the trust that I lost."

For over a decade, Larry Mendte was the most visible anchor in Philadelphia winning 70 Emmy Awards,  4 Edward R Murrow Awards and was probably the most active news anchor on behalf of charities and non-profit organizations. Mendte, a hometown guy whose first job in the news business was delivering the Evening Bulletin as a boy, took special pleasure in the fact that, as an adult, he was still delivering the evening news in Philadelphia.

Raised in Lansdowne (Delaware County) Mendte graduated from Monsignor Bonner High School and has been inducted into the school's Hall of Fame. He received his B.A. degree in Communications from West Chester University and has been awarded the school's distinguished alumni award and the President's medal for community service. Mendte is involved in over 30 local charities, including Alex's Lemonade Stand

Mendte and his wife, Fox 29 Anchor Dawn Stensland, make their home in Philadelphia with their four children.

By the way - I agree with this post from Jackson M - well said: "Here is the way I understand the case against Mendte. An inexperienced broadcaster and home wrecker from Miami is lucky enough to get a job co-anchoring with Mendte - she makes a play for him - Mendte kisses her a couple of times and then rejects her. She gets mad and seduces the General Manager and uses this poor sap to try and get Larry Mendte fired. Mendte fights back by looking at her email account. He find that this tramp is doing all kinds of crazy **** and tells the papers. good for him! The she hits a cop and gets fired. Mendte is worried that she will still come after his family and checks on this wacko to make sure she doesn't. She finds out from Angela Russel, a no-talent loser at Channel 3, that Mendte is looking at her email. Lane doesn't suit or go to the station..she goes to the FBI. The FBI should have thrown her out. There were no damages, no money taken...so why did they take it? Because it was Larry Mendte and they would get a lot of publicity for taking him down. Pat Meehan could hold his ten thousandth news conference and launch his run for Governor. Then Lane, her attorney and a marketing team started worked the media into a frenzy. And the dimwits in the media went along with it. In the end, we lose a good man who did a world of good for the community and cared about Philadelphia. Lane moved to LA and Russel moved to Seattle. And the only person who had a pure motive (to protect his family) and who told the truth was Larry Mendte. Everyone else involved should be ashamed...we should all be ashamed...we let a good man down."
I always admired and respected Larry Mendte and I love his wife Dawn Stensland. I am stunned that Dawn was let go by Fox. But I would love to see them back on the air together and I think they could do a world of good for the community.
Dawn Stensland and Larry Mendte should anchor together. I would absolutely watch!
BRING BACK LARRY TO TV - NOBOBY HAS THE PASSION FOR THE DELAWARE VALLEY LIKE HE DID. BE BRAVE ENOUGH TO GIVE HIM A CHANCE - HE HAS DONE MORE GOOD FOR THE PHILLA AREA THAN ANYONE - HE SHOULD BE ON THE AIR
How about a woman's point of view - I knew Alycia Lane was trouble the minutes she came to town. Larry Mendte has done a world of good for Philadelphia, surrounding communities and local charities - including JDRF and my child. I would welcome Larry Mendte back on the air. As for Lane - good riddance.
I stopped watching CBS3. I want Larry Mendte BACK on TV!!!! As for the Larry below - that fraud is from New York - probably a friend of Lane's. This is Philly. Larry Mendte IS Philly.
So below we have two scenarios...which one to believe. I say we look at history. Larry Mendte did nothing but good for the community. He was supported by other broadcasters, charities, community leaders and even Ben Franklin. The other one was never out in the community and left town every weekend. Larry stood up and told the truth and accepted responsibility. The other one never took reponsibility for anything. Mendte was praised by the US Attorney for telling the truth. The other one lied to the FBI/ Mendte never had an impeccable reputation and never did anythign wrong. The other had a history of bad behavior. I'll side with the honest one who grew up in Philadelphia, loves this city and took responsibility. Sen the other one to LA - oh wait!
Here is the way I understand the case against Mendte..... An egomaniac, sexist Pennsylvanian decides to stalk a fellow broadcaster at Channel 3 because he is insecure and paranoid about his job. Mendte cheated on his wife by kissing this "home wrecker" then someone like Jackson M. has the nerve to say he was fighting back by "looking" at her email account. Some would call this stalking, others would call it trespassing, and some may even call it identity theft. Larry was reported spying on his co-anchors email account over 5 times a day from his home and office. He was probably doing this while he is in bed with his wife while sickly fantasizing about his sexual infidelities. After violating her personal life repeatedly, he then goes about trying to ruin her professional life by leaking photographs and rumors about his co-anchor in the hopes of securing his position. Good for him as Jackson M would say! Lane then goes to the FBI considering that some creepy psychopath violated federal laws in order to ruin her life. Real class act this Mendte. He is immediately accused of these crimes and admits to them in order to get a plea for probation and house arrest. In my mind Larry got off easy. If this wasn't a case of a white male of high stature in a conservative state violating these federal laws, he would've gone to prison. Anyone like Jackson M that can defend these actions and accuse Lane of wrong doing based on her personal life and sexuality is obviously ignorant and probably a closet violent woman abuser himself. To say we all should be ashamed is like saying we should all support criminal and sexually deviant behavior. Its amazing the similarities between this case and someone who shows dangerous sexually violent behavior towards women. Larry should be allowed to continue his personal life but anyone who believes he is not in the wrong or should be allowed to return to the public eye after his action are totally wrong.

sp below - sb "you're really fucked" not your - sorry. Ignore the gay comment above ^----------^
Oh man did he bone Alicia soo good. Hope you enjoyed Lar...now your really fucked!!
Larry IS the best Anchor in Philadelphia. We need him! Bring him back!
Big deal he looked at emails, his co ancore was a oppurtunist and she wouldve cut you at the knees to move ahead and make more money was it worng yes but wouldve i had trusted her no !.because of larry i started to watch channel 10 now i dont even put it on that channel. When he was at 10 it was number one now i believe its number 3 so it speaks for itself.
Philadelphia news is boring without Larry. He was the best anchor in Philadelphia. We want Larry back Now!
Agreed, I would be highly pissed at anyone who read my emails and sent them off to others. But we have all done stupid things and people have been given second chances. Maybe you've never been caught, but no one can sit here and say they've never done anything wrong. Larry deserves a 2nd chance, just like we are bailing out all these corporations, they are being given a 2nd chance. I say give Larry a 2nd chance and bring him back, maybe not as an anchor, let him build that trust again, as a reporter.
Larry Mendte was and is the best anchor in Philadelphia. Hands down. TV is not the same without him on the air. Everyone else is boring.

I was impressed by the way he came clean about the whol things and accepted his punishment. He did wrong, but I found honor in the way he handled it.
I don't believe he is narcissistic, I believe him when he says he was trying to protect his family.

I am impressed at the way he Came Clean and told the truth. Nobody does that.

mendte:textbook narcissist--stensland:classic enabler with esteem issues or pathlogical denial

you'll are idiots because you would be so pissed if your co-worker went through your e-mail and sent things to different people.

Larry Mendte should never have been let go in the first place. I'm sure he was just trying to protect himself from the evil Alicia Lane. Please give him a second chance, he deserves it. It' the people of the Delaware Valley's loss. I changed news channels when he left. Thanks, Beth Hanley

BRING LARRY BACK...He absolutely 100 % deserves another chance...we all make mistakes and he has paid dearly...now let him bring his professionalism back onto the airwaves.

Need him back in Philly air!! We love you Larry!!
