Issue:

The effects of violence in the media have been the main topics of many researches in the past 40 years. But in the last 15 or so years, the topic of violent video games has risen over and over again. Studies have demonstrated that playing violent video games can increase a person\\\'s aggressive thoughts, feelings, and behavior. With all these facts, manufacturers still make the video games to be the most available/accessible entertainment, especially for kids/teenagers. The other side of the issue is that although the technology is available, the educational/useful video games are NOT as readily available, and are NOT produced/promoted to be the better choice of leisure in the younger age group.

Belief:

There are companies that create amazing educational games for kids and teenagers. They are most often overlooked by the parents and kids themselves due to lack of promotion. Games like \\\"DOOM\\\" and alike, are promoted even in TV commercials, but I have yet to see a single educational game campaign as widely publicised. We can not stop the progress of technology, but we need to make sure that the role playing games of today\\\'s kids will be positive and useful for tomorrow’s adults.

I pledge to...

Forum Discussion for computer games that can teach you something useful

I happen to have three ideas for games that would teach people, respectively, how to invest, how to manage corporate life, and how to argue legal cases, all in realistic situations. I also have education in Computer Information Systems, Political Science, Economics, Criminology, and Liberal Arts. I plan to become a game design project leader, inventor, and writer/artist of novels and comic books.
