Description:
Ah, the casette tape. They started to really take off in 1979 due to that new cassette player — the Sony Walkman, enabling people to listen to Donna Summer and the Knack’s “My Sharona” while they were jogging. Sales peaked at 18 million in 1994, sank to 480,000 in 2007.
But for audio books, you can pop one in your car, assuming your car is as old as mine and has a tape player, and pop it out and take it inside and listen to the book right where you left off. Try that with a CD.
Are you ready for the cassette to go the way of the eight-track?Â
