Jesus **** Christ, I am sickened both by this campaign and most of the comments that have been posted here. Pull your heads out of your asses, get rid of your Nazi mindsets, and read the motherfucking Bill of Rights. The First Amendment guarantees all US citizens (which I am) both the Freedom of the Press and the freedom to express their opinion. Who are you to bash people who dislike a book? I read all of them, and they can hardly be considered literature. Jennifer J., who posted right before me, did an excellent job of explaining the major problems with the books, so I'm not going to waste pixels simply repeating what she just said. My English Teacher attempted to read them, and she agrees with me.
If anything, all this is is a monument to your incredible hypocrisy; you condemn people who dislike these books for expressing their opinions, and yet here you are, expressing your very own.
If you can "fight" people disliking your books, I can sure as Hell fight your disturbingly Nazi-esque ideals.
Instead of whining about people -gasp- expressing their opinions on t3h 1n74rw3b5, why don't you grow up and read real literature? To Kill a Mockingbird is a must, as well as Slaughterhouse-Five and any of Arthur Miller's works.

This makes absolutely no sense, since anyone is allowed to say anything they want. If you can't handle it, you are a child.

Now, for why Twilight is bad:

Edward is a stalker. He broke into Bella's home to stare at her in her sleep, showing blatant disrespect to her right to privacy. They were not lovers, nor even friends when he does this. It is not sweet. It is breaking and entering, and is a felony. Of course, Edward has no respect for anyone's privacy, because it drives him insane if he can't listen to everyone's most private thoughts all the time. He's a busybody at best- for heaven's sakes, according to Stephenie Meyer himself he was listening in to his classmate's and teacher's sexual fantasies- something that he has no right to do. But he does it anyway, and is angry at Bella that she just won't let him have her innermost mind for him to sneer at.

Bella is shallow. She claims she wants friends, but is a rude, ungrateful little brat to anyone who is nice to her. She is disrespectful to her father, apparently for no greater reason than that he lives in a small town. She frequently moans about how awful Forks is and how every person is ugly, a geek, or a hick. The only person who is marginally attractive, she dismisses as soon as she sees the infinitely more attractive Cullens. Edward is a complete jerk to her, and all she can do is drool over how beautiful he is. It shouldn't matter if he's God's gift to man in the looks department- he's nasty and rude. He's condescending, orders her around, and frequently puts her down. Yet all she can do is tell us that he's really hot and really rich and really super special, except it's his powers, not his personality that is super special. If she cared about his personality, she would have mentioned it before Jacob directly challenged her on it.
To continue with the 'Bella is shallow' argument, I present Subject B: Jacob Black. Of course she won't end up with him- he's handsome, but he's not gorgeous. He treats her with kindness and respect, he learns about her, and wants to make her happy. Of course he's not good enough, because A) he turns into an icky animal, B) he's poor, C) he's not white, D) he treats her like a princess and not like moron, and of course, E) she would have to get all icky and old if she married him, whereas with Edward, she would look like a supermodel and be super-rich and never have to grow old or die. She picks beauty and fear of death over love.

The books are full of logical inconsistencies. If a French kiss would vamp Bella, sex certainly would. If Edward is dead, he has no sperm. If the Cullens are rock hard, they should be unable to move. If the vampires have faceted skin, they should shimmer in every light. If Jacob was in love with Renesmee before she was born, he should have been equally in love with Edward as with Bella, as the carrier of half of her DNA. If Jacob consumates his relationship with Renesmee when she looks 18, he will still be having sex with a child, as she will not have the emotional maturity for such a relationship. If a werewolf will do anything his imprintee wants, Sam would have never savaged Emily. If Quil was not desirous of eventually having a sexual relationship with Claire, he would date other women, while still being devoted to her, like a brother. If Edward has gone to medical school twice, why is he still in high school? How is it that the 20-somethings Rosalie, Alice, Jasper, and Emmett are confused for high school students? How is it no one has noticed that Dr. Cullen has freezing cold hands?

Most importantly, why is every woman in the series obsessed with relationships, babies, and playing dress up? Why isn't there a single strong woman anywhere?

These books send toxic messages to impressionable young girls that it's all right if a man is overly controlling and that a woman's duty is to glue herself to that man for eternity, so she will never have to think about anything but giving the man all the sex he wants and having tons of babies. It is because of this underlying message that I will fight this series to my last breath- they are a poison that should be expunged from our schools before they do more damage.

Stephenie Meyer made the mistake of ending her gay but readable twilight books with the most impossible happy ending ever. the Voltori have no credability as the bad-asses Edward and Carlisle made them out to be. Plus all that **** that they did before(then after) killing Victoria's vampires was for nothing. At least Harry killed voldemort and grew old with his wife and kids. Honestly, both sides of this argument need to calm the f*** down. I read Twilight. I thought it was not entirely horrible. The only thing i hate about it is the fact that i was forced to read it under pain of death. Twilighters keep whinging about twilight-haters voicing their opinions all the time. If anything this forum is nothing more then a monument to your own hypocrisy.
