Description:
We the people believe that a copy of medical records should be given to the patient without being charged. Our rights should not be set to the side, due to a policy.
A law needs to be put into action that will allow the American people to have what is rightfully ours.
I AGREE WITH THE PREVIOUS POSTING AND PETITION TO CONGRESS. WHILE PROTECTING OUR PRIVACY, WE ARE BEING HELD CAPTIVE FROM RECEIVING OUR PROPERTY.
Why is there a per page fee. Is no option to get electronic copies of these records. Putting a price on these records is allowing the Government to own a little piece of everyone in hopes of selling a little back to them over and over.

i think it is rediculous my father just passed away
and i asked for his medical records and they wanted
25 cents per page which is around 400 bucks.
It is disgusting that one has to pay for what's one's property to begin with!!! Understandably, if copies are required, a 5 or 10 cent per copy fee seems reasonable to me to cover cost of paper and ink; however, no person who is disabled and living on SSI can afford the fees currently charged and no one, and I mean NO ONE should have to pay to get their medical records (and yes, I do understand someone has to make these copies, but that's what clerical personnel are paid for anyway already).
I think the record should be given to the patient as part of the visit.
I asked my psychologist if I could get the pages in my records that pertains to the harassment that led to MDD (Major depressive disorder) she went to ask, when she returned, she said the price would be $20.00 That is a steep price for 1-2 pages out of my records.
