Give Everyone Healthy Water

6 Pledges
  • Start Date:

  • Last Pledge:

Issue:

Many poor third world villages do not have clean healthy water to drink.  As a result many people in these communities get sick and die because of water-borne diseases.

Belief:

In the past water purification systems that could produce clean disease free water were very expensive and required several different proceses to make water from wells, lakes and rivers safe to drink.  In small poor communities many people still die from water-borne diseases.  However new technology that purifies water has been developed that costs only a few hundred dollars and it is within our reach to give every community around the world clean disease-free water.  Water-borne dieseases still cause many deaths in poor communities within the third world.

I pledge to...

There are many charitable organizations that have taken up the cause to give everyone in the world clean disease-free water to drink.  Small donations by a few people is all it takes to bring clean disease-free water to an entire community.  I pledge that through my favorite charity, I will give a few dollars so every person can have safe water to drink.

Every human deserves clean water.

Creating clean potable water in the first world communities is expensive. Every area has different water problems and as a result there was previously no one system that worked everywhere, each one had to be tailor made in order to make water disease free due to different problems. Even so, every so often disease still gets in the system and we have "boil water" adivisories If it is expensive for first world countries getting clean water for all third world countries was thought to be impossible because of the variety of problems that can crop up. Some poor third world communities have to get water from wells, some from rivers or lakes and some have to store it in cisterns for the dry season and in each case they have different diseases that can infect their water supply. Fortunately new technology has made a water purification system that is small, easy to install and effective for just about any problem and furthermose it onle cost a few hundred dollars to supply water for a small village.
