Has anybody thought that the devil is a good guy?

I have heard stories that the devil will rise and take over the earth and the lost souls of hell will follow him, but I have been thinking. If the devil wants those souls to follow him do you not think that hell should be a better place for them? I do know that Lucifer and God have a shaky relationship but they may be working togethor to control hell. Maybe hell needs Lucifer to prevent things from going out of hand.
