Harsher laws against animal abuse!

Issue:

There are many animals in the United States and even the world who are being abused everyday. We as people should make a stand against those who physically and mentally abuse animals. For every dog starving, for every kitten that is beaten, for every puppy that is thrown into the water without knowing how to swim, and for all the people that do these things to them and walk away with a slap on the wrist.
 

Belief:

I believe that animals are alot like children.  Animals are a product of how they are raised and the environment in which they are from.  Teach a child to fight to kill, or better yet... throw a child into the streets to survive with no human contact and the product you'll get will be similar to that of an animal put in the same situations.  For this reason i believe animals should be treated with the same decency. People everywhere are treating animals as stress relievers and punching bags, to take their stress out on.  This is for all the animals abused, and the people who walk away with just a slap on the wrist for abusing, or even worse killing them.  If anyone reading this needs more in site turn on the T.V. and watch animal cops, or go to the ASPCA website and see for yourself. Only people like us can try to influence the government in harder penalties for those who abuse animals.

Spread the knowledge of animal abuse and how its spreading more everyday.  To also do the best i can to influence the legislators for better animal rights laws...to protect animals better.

i think those who torture animals should be tortured hardly fed like they did to poor animals or at least max prison time its just like kidnapping and hold captive a child these people are just sick.

I love animals those who kill or torture them should be sent to jail for a long time i would seriously pledge myself to stop this abuse i have 7 cats and 6 dogs and i love them

People Should Stop Animal Abuse Because Every Animal Deserves As Much Life As A Human! That Is Just Cruel! If People Find It Stressfull To Have A Pet Might As Well Give It To The Shelter & Let It Live With Someone That Wont Abuse It! Save An Animals Life By Takin It To The Shelter And Not Hurting It!

Something has to be done! I don't know how anyone could look at themselves in the mirror. I don't know how people can be so cruel. My dogs are my little girls and it is time for peoples eyes to be opened and I pray that God changes peoples hearts. I pledge this pledge for the rest of my life.

Please help these animals that cant speak us animal lovers all over the world are doing what we can to help and protect them from so called humans I think the main reason for all this abuse is because these losers know they can basically do what they want and they know they will get away with it if the animal protection Laws were harsher they might think twice about it and if this keeps up theres not going to be any animals left thats not right or fair to them who did nothing to deserve what happened to them the poor animals they dont know whats happening it really stinks Im crying as Im typing this is wrong it has to stop Please help these innocent animals Thank You

you know how if ur brother or sister hits u an u cry....or get sad...well think of how the animals feel... if u dont feed or play with ur animal..that IS abuse... and if u do it..i will hunt u down ...and abuse U!!! not really but still..i hate it sooo dont do it..agree??? ..... u better

We need to stand together and get more animal rights out there with harder much harder penalties, animals aren't our to do what we want to with them, they are here for us to care of and to love. Those that are unkind to animals will stand before God oneday and be judged. I just wish we could all stand together and take action against these people that hate so much, dont blink an eye to hurting any animal. We need to try put an end to the fur trade too.

Animals are precious and have equal right to live on this earth as we humans do. Pass laws against animal abuse in any form just as similar to laws that are present to protect human rights.

I have a dog named Cassie who was found by my vet in the middle of the road. She was starving and there was an old hamburger in the road. She was so thin when we first saw her. It was so sad. She is now my dog. I love her with all my heart. We posted tons of signs and put things in newspapers, but we never found out who "owned" her (I don't really like to think of dogs as owned because really they are just part of the family) before we did, but I will never stop wondering. People who abuse animals are sick. I will never understand why they do it. I definatly think that is is HORRIBLE that there are such minimal punishments for animal abuse.

I believe the proper punishment for these assholes is to have them recieve the same exact treatment that they inflicted upon these animals. I hate these people w/ the strongest passion imaginable.

How! can you look a cute animal in the face an then turnaround and abuse them IT just has to stop!NO two ways about it the law has to be twice has hard on the abuser. Animals are peoples best friends lets all treat them like it PLEASE!

I have been a foster home for abondoned and abused animals for appr.the last 5 years. Nothing angers me more than to see an animal hurt.Actually what infuriates me even more than that is when they let the abuser walk away! You need so much proof it is horrible! And while your trying to prove the abuse the poor animal is either suffering, gotten rid of or killed.WHY IS NOTHING BEING DONE. Is it not time to bring back JUSTICE in our justice system...To Defend the weak and the helpless!

In China there is no such thing as Animal Laws... I was horrified. If you kill a dog in Beijing, you'll be charged with "damaging other's property"....

Please everyone, animals are not beneath us. We do not own them, we do not rule over them. They are not morally or spiritually less than humans. Us humans need to be much less conceited. WE DON'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO SEE THEM AS INFERIOR! If you look at it this way.. it is the humans that has been causing so much turmoil and loss on the world we live in. We kill ourselves, we kill each other, we bear hatred, and take our habitat for granted. How dare we think that we're on top?
We ARE NOT better than animals, we are one kind of animal. Mammal. That's all we are.

This is essential! Please realize that most of the sick serial type killers and abusers start with helpless small animals and when that no longer satisfies their demented desire to mame and kill and mutilate,they move on to small helpless children and adults!
They have to be stopped at the animal abuse stage ( which is horrific enough ) in order to keep them from more horrifing crimes.
STOP letting them off easy!

I have always held to the idea that whatever an animal abuser did to an animal is what should be done to them. Someone who lets their pet go for days without water should be denied water for three or four days. Starve your animal to death? No food for a week. Bring them to the brink, then bring them back. Running a dogfighting ring? Deathmatch with other prisoners. If you win, you get put back into your tiny cell, fed some bread and water, run on a treadmill for a couple of miles, then fight again the next day. You lose, if you aren't killed in the ring, you get your choice of hanging, drowning, electric chair, or burned alive. In our country of reciprocal punishment, this just makes good sense!
