Description:

Please read the history of french nuclear tests and vote if you think that France should be punished even if they admit their cruel errors.
Henri Hiro, a Maohi poet/writer  wrote in 1980 to the Minister of Defence of the time Yvon Bourges: "... I am convinced that maintaining the nuclear tests in Polynesia is a heinous act and criminal whose executives will unfortunately never tried because it is our children that might one day pay madness or inaction of their elders. "

The answer to this gentleman was: "Everything is not the work of the devil."
Our reality is, "at least 250000 people including more than 4000 direct victims, an unclean environment, a serious health condition, a social catastrophe, a saving of consumerism and permanent debt, and so…" Nuclear testing is Certainly finally stopped, but the consequences are disastrous indefinitely. Also, it is our responsibility to demand that full light will be shed on the damage caused by atmospheric and underground tests in our fenua '. "

The installation of CEP and drifts

Since the early 60, the nuclear weapon is at the centre of the French defence policy. In 1945, CEA (atomic testing centre) is created by General De Gaulle in 1958, the Chairman of the Board, Felix Gaillard decided to build and test a plutonium bomb. It's the return of General de Gaulle to power in an atmosphere of Cold War between the USA and the USSR, which led France to establish guidelines for its nuclear policy. It aims to develop and implement a strike force and an independent nuclear deterrence policy based on the principle of massive retaliation in the event of external aggression threatening the interests of France.

While the Americans and the English, whose trials began in 1946 in the archipelagos of Marshall, in the Johnston Atoll and the islands Christmas, sign a treaty with the Soviets banning experience of nuclear weapons (in the 'Atmosphere, in Outer Space and Under Water), France refuses signing the treaty and, in a note circulated to its embassy in New York in 1966, highlights the lack of population in the area decided, within a radius of 250 miles, apart from the 80 inhabitants of Tureia (atoll closest to the site), absent "pleasure trip" in Tahiti in the first shooting atmospheric Moruroa. She says her ambition, after the development of a first generation of fission bombs for Mirages 4, arming ballistic missiles that must equip nuclear submarines. Are then tested bombs in the basement of basaltic Moruroa and Fangataufa whose aim is to miniaturize the charges multiple rocket M4 for submarines and to harden to optimize their resistance to anti-nuclear weapons through the thermo-nuclear warheads more powerful and experienced since 1976.

In April 1992, a moratorium was agreed, but some french national leaders are convinced of the need: the resumption of shooting to qualify warheads to equip missiles M45 will be equipped with the nuclear submarine launchers gear; the development of other tests on the simulation program PALEN (Alternate testing size).
In 1996, a Total Ban Treaty of Nuclear Tests has finally signed between the major players in the Nuclear.

The history of nuclear testing in our fenua spans a period of 30 1966 1996, while Algeria newly its independence, thus forcing the state to find elsewhere french site of experimentation. Thus, the first nuclear test took place on July 2, 1966 at Moruroa, will follow 40 atmospheric tests and 146 underground tests spread over Moruroa and Fangataufa, tests that are classified "successful" (a point sight Franco-nuclear, of course).

The world and in particular the State french just recovering from the devastating effects of knowledge, both ecological health of a nuclear explosion (since many data obtained from studies conducted on the victims of Hiroshima and on the dangers of radiation are published and translated into french since 1960) that already engineers and french military decided to expose the nuclear tests of civilian and military personnel, despite the known dangers.

Thus, 57750 people, civilian and military, including Polynesian 4701 workers are employed in the business of mass destruction of the State french, destroying both ecological, health, social and cultural development. Thus 192 tests "recognized" (5 shots security), capacity equal to 170 times that of Hiroshima are made. "The total power of those explosions atmospheric lies between 7.6 and 10.8 Mt ... Mt or between 510 and 720 times the power of the Hiroshima bomb." And it is certainly thanks to a shot atmospheric like CANOPUS (hydrogen bomb), made on August 24, 1968, and developing an energy Kt 2600 (while LITTLE BOY, bombing of Hiroshima was already scheduled at 15 knots), France is the third largest propelled World countries possess nuclear weapons.
Yet the State french did not consider it appropriate or necessary to the opinion of the Maohi people, taken hostage in his home, forced to accept the obvious, that nuclear testing. How can we show so little appreciation of these financial flows generated by the tests, "mannes" supposed to anesthetize us and keep us in oblivion of our responsibilities but above all into oblivion by the irresponsibility of the country for human rights and 'man. Indeed irresponsibility of the state because none french security measures and effective health calendar are then taken.
No legislation on exposure to the test zones around sites of fire (while American legislation considered a minimum area affected by radioactive fallout of the tests, 700 km around the blast site).
No security measure worthy of this name to protect different populations of the 19 islands and atolls in the area of 700 km around Moruroa and Fangataufa.
No health measures tailored to ban or regulate the consumption of fresh food in the area and elsewhere in Polynesia.
No system of decontamination and decommissioning of the test sites.
No studies on the radiological certain areas of the atoll lagoon and Hao (rear base where atmospheric tests are analyzed samples taken in the radioactive cloud by planes which are also cleaned).

Today we can say that the majority of Moruroa veterans, as well as their descendants, have contracted diseases cancerous and non-cancerous (which are just as dangerous and serious).

When we see the arrogance of the Republic face the tragedy of Chernobyl and its consequences on the ground and people french metropolitan, we can not disregard his surprise about the effects of its nuclear testing on the ground and people ' Algeria and Te Ao maohi

That is why some men of various political, religious, trade unions and associations have, since the beginning of this project, niche mounted to denounce the lack of consideration and respect for our country and ask for the permanent cessation of nuclear testing . Among these men, those of Tavini Huiraatira (including youth of the party), which until the permanent cessation of nuclear testing french, have stepped up actions and reactions in order to be heard by everyone and by everyone. Today, as the tests are interrupted since 1996, the Association Moruroa e Tatou (an association of former workers of Moruroa and Fangataufa and their families, as well as young supporters), is responsible for reminding us that our hard fight , from the effects of nuclear, is not finished and that we all must mobilize so that the State recognizes its french irresponsibility and finally take its responsibilities towards the people of Te Ao Maohi.

For a long time our ancestors had a very rich culture and knowledge developed equally in the fields of agriculture, fisheries and navigation. The establishment of CEA and POC in our country soon and for a long time changed this state of affairs, weighing heavily on the economy, society, culture and political identity of the "soft, smooth, innocent indigenous and hospitable maohi. " Economic history of the territory based on the production and sale of commodities, what has been called "economy counter", is then rewritten. This is the beginning of a consumer economy and services "(to oversimplify) and debt permanent, benefiting oligarchic elite, who will be born and grow a sense of social inequality and injustice at the maohi people.

July 2005, the government TEMARU creates COSCEN

In July 2005, the Assembly of French Polynesia sets up a commission of inquiry into the consequences of air french tests in Polynesia. The latter makes its report Tuesday, January 24, 2006, ten years after the last test conducted at Fangataufa on January 27, 1996.

In their report, the elected Polynesian come forward with evidence that the 46 1966 1974 have, in each shot, caused radioactive fallout on all the inhabited islands of Polynesia, contrary to what always said the French military authorities.

The Ministry of Defense claimed to be a desire for transparency had refused all contact and cooperation with the Commission of Inquiry. To meet this official silence, the Commission of Inquiry decided to help itself to transparency on nuclear testing air. Through contributions independent, the Commission published twenty-five papers military secrets for years 1966 and 1967 in their entirety. These documents demonstrate clearly that not only the military authorities lied about the reality of the radioactive fallout, but they were, in order, respondent silent on the dangers that were exposed inhabitants of the nearby islands and atolls of Moruroa .

Elected officials Polynesian now consider that their population was deliberately abandoned to radioactive fallout from nuclear explosions claimed that the military control. The serious health problems - thyroid cancer, leukaemia and other cancers - suffered today Polynesians are to be examined in the light of these reckless risks to which they were exposed.

The Commission of Inquiry has heard more than thirty-five personalities from the world of politics, medical or professional consulted numerous medical reports and received numerous letters considers that certain promises made to the development of Polynesian elected in part against nuclear tests' have not been honoured. Today, the sustainable development of Polynesia is still needed.

Elected representatives of the Assembly of French Polynesia recommended to the government of Mr. Oscar Temaru to pursue its own analysis of three decades of nuclear tests and implement a means for monitoring the health of former workers of Moruroa and populations of the islands close to the former test sites are insured. They recommended that a dialogue between the government of French Polynesia and state authorities french be held to try to resolve in truth and justice litigation nuclear tests.

I thought the president of France Sarkosy protested at the United Nations when Iran wanted to build a nuclear electricity plant for their country. How dare he be so hypocritical knowing what his country perpetrated in French Polynesia. Hiroshima was a crime against humanity and these tests are over 700 times more powerful than the bomb of Hiroshima. If it is not a crime, what is it? I vote YES to prosecute France!
