Issue:

For years, the art of fengshui has been seen as a part of Chinese traditional culture. But now, this long standing heritage is being challenged since South Korea applied to list the art as a World Cultural Heritage under its name.

The Chinese government still sees the art as a superstitious method to judge good or bad luck.  The art of fengshui failed to be mentioned in their shortlist of 35 cultural arts that China has drawn up in preparation for next years World Intangible Cultural Heritage nomination procedure.

South Korea, who succeeded in adding the Dragon Boat Festival (a celebration used to commemorate a Chinese patriot) onto the list in 2005, have applied to add fengshui, which originated in China long ago and only later spread to Korea during the Ming Dynasty.

Belief:

Is Korea again robbing China of its heritage?  Or is China showing they do not want to be linked to fengshui?
