L Ron Hubbard is laughing up from his grave. Someone decided to take his Science Fiction story and turn it into a religion and make a bunch of money and idiots like Tom Cruise and John Travolta fell for it. Ha Ha He He Ho Ho, their coming to take them away.
Scientology is MOST DEFINITELY a cult. They try to pass it off as a form of therapy compatible with all religions, but the stupid things they teach you is nothing compared to the horrifying things they do if you try to hinder them, either by speaking out or trying to leave. I'm 100% with Anonymous on this. NO MERCY.
the whole thing is made up. it has been used to brainwash people to believe in things that are not real. so how can it be called anything but a cult?it is most certainly not a religion. it is a new wave cult that is going to be used to get us all in trouble with God.
its can be consered a cult since its outside the mainstream belief. yes the religion has its problems like all religions do. but i really think scientology is stupid due to the fact its based on books made the the creator of the book. this religion is real proof that religion is used to brainwash and control the masses just like any other religion out there. the best known brainwashing religion is christianty
I hate to be a Know-it-all, but technically, a cult is a kind of religion (albeit a secretive one). Perhaps "Is Scientology a religion or no?"might be a more suitable caption?
Before I write anything else: I am NOT a Scientologist, secret agent, Nazi or anything else. So please don't think I'm siding with that lot.
I recently attended a seminary on the very same matter at the university, and we did come up with some very odd points. For one thing, there are precious few books on the market that approach the matter scientifically. Most of what you hear is Internet speculation. This, of course, is wonderful ammunition for the Scientologists, who then can dismiss almost any accusation as "Internet sensationalism". This actually happened to me - we did visit a larger "Org" (as their communities are called) in the course of the seminary - and practically all of my questions were elegantly blocked by that same argument.
However, if we're going to enter into the realm of "Did LRH really believe what he was writing?", I must warn you: The sources are scarce at best - some are Scientology propaganda (lol), other anti-Sci hate speeches. Believe me if I say that this doesn't help. Besides, even if it was all a show in the beginning, I seriously think that he did believe it in the end. Look at famous Nazi war criminals, such as SS officers convicted for atrocities in concentration camps. Most of them simply said that they didn't remember a thing. And they probably didn't. An accomplished liar will at one point be totally convinced that his lie, and be it that monstrous, is, in fact, the truth.
from everything ive heard scientology is a cult some people who leave get stalked and humiliated in public... the "religion" is based on a fictional book and people have treated it like the bible the author never intended for this.... the only reason scientology is so well known is because tom cruise never shuts up bout it there are heaps of well known celebs, like john travolta, kirstie alley, kate cebrano, who believe in it but dont make a huge deal bout it like him...
Cults are super secretive, Scientology is super secretive! And what religion forces you to buy their "religious" texts in order to join the "church". And when they revise or update the "doctrine" you are forced to buy the new material. And if you leave the church they will destroy you in every way possible! It's bogus and an elitist type of organization hell bent on dominating the population.
not exactly a cult, but more a scam. you pay learn what a science fiction writer came up with. I've looked through alot of web pages on it and have never been able to believe any of it.

They get their beliefs from a man who wrote sci fi books. hello so a cult.

I the whole Tom cruise video.
I've done my research.
It's pretty cult-like to me.
Mysterious deaths, charges being dropped, investigations being dropped after being investigated by a scientologist detective...suspicious much?

There are many issues. One in particular is that real churches reach out to everyone. Scientology has "Celebrity Centres". Seriously.

Yeah lol
Have you ever seen that Tom Cruise video?
