America was started as a christian country alright, but people from hundreds of years ago didn't have any proof of anything else. Now we have evidence that goes against religion yet people are too stubborn to leave their faith behind and embrace REASON. The only reason religion is still flowing from one generation to another is from it being taught by parents and in schools. Children are easily BRAINWASHED into religion and i can see how if you come from an extremely religious family it might be hard to part with your faith once your old enough to think REASONABLY. For example: when you realize santa isn't real. If a fully grown adult beleaved in Santa all you christians would call him crazy. WHY?? Because there's no proof? Because no ones ever seen him? well it's the same with Jesus/God. And don't say the bible is proof because it's RIDUCULOUS. Miracles don't happen.. children die... people get raped... theres no evidence in the bible and religion is the cause of most of the worlds problems.. email me if you want

When my son was in kindergarten nearly 4 years ago, he was taken aside by his teacher and told that he could not bow his head before eating his snack. I contacted the school regarding this and was told that the reason for this was because it could be offensive to other students around him that do not believe in God. What about my son being offended by the fact that he could not pray? Don't tell me that the schools aren't keeping it out, because they are. I seriously doubt that a single kindergartner in my son's class would have been offended by this. If all religions were being respected, my son could have said his prayer and others would have respected his right to do so, just as he respects those who do not.

And why is this only an argument between athiests and Christians?

Have you thought about the children and politicians that are not Christian? I am a Pagan and if someone told me I had to pray to the Christian God I would be offended. I do not ask you to believe my way, do not make me believe yours. Freedom of religion means all religions!

Keep religion out of schools and politics. Parents can instruction their children at home and on Sundays in church. I am an American and resent radical right religion in my government.

This Country was based on the Bible, even our Constitution was, YES I'M ALL FOR PUTTING PRAYER AND GOD BACK INTO THE SCHOOLS AND BACK INTO THIS COUNTRY.

Which God would you like to have? The Hindus have hundreds? Separation of Church and State is what this country was founded on. It's why the Pilgrims came here. Devote Christians and atheists should be able to agree on this. No GOD in schools. Don't you have enough faith in your homelife to teach whatever claptrap you'd like to teach? Those who don't want "sex" in schools are probably the same ones who want "GOD". Let's hope our schools can survive this nonsense.

They say that thats what the moment of silence is at school..but this morning I looked around and I seen students talking to each other and giggling during the moment of silence..THIS NEEDS TO STOP!! people need to realize who GOD is..he is a wonderful spirit that everyone needs in their life.

I dont get how some of you can say that you are athiest, not to be rude or anything but your not your just ignorant. If you are an athiest than you have a degree or at least some back round info on the topic but half of you have no idea what you are talking about.

I don't know how you can say that Christianity can be so easily 'debunked'. There's plenty of evidence in nature alone to show that God created the world. And another thing, most of the founding fathers were theists, meaning they believed that God created the world and is still working in it. The only people that I can think of who were deist were Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Jefferson. They believed that God created the world and then left when He was finished. Jefferson even cut out verses from the Bible and put together his own bible for crying out loud! There is a difference. I don't mean to be rude, but you guys should do some more research before you go and post stuff that you don't know the full details about.
