MichaelR(B.B.B.09)god has no place anywhere in school other than as part of a discusion of world mythos and there impact on societies whom ignor scieance in favor of fairytales.the only reason that we are even having this discusion is that our schools have failed us and left our nation with to few willing or able to think independintly and logicaly.

God does NOT belong in school and I`l tell you why:
School is for learning, not for recuting people to ANY religion. In "muslim" countries they keep God in schools and if we do the same, what does that say about us? Kids in Muslim countries have no freedom, do you want the same for your kids? I thought America was about Freedom..

I agree. I am a "Technical" Christian, and I think the idea of putting God back in school is one heck of a stupid idea. School is not about recruiting others into a religion.

Also, I would like to bring up a very weird thing. Most of the topics in this Religion section all have something to do with Christianity. Just thought that was kinda weird is all.

There is no such thing as a 'technical' Christian. Either you are Red-Hot, or Ice-Cold..Read Revelations

Fine. Will you take unorthodox? I'm sorry, but I don't trust something written by man 2000+ years ago and that has been re-written many times over. But i get the concept of the Bible.

And before you reply to this, let me explain my beliefs to you. I believe there was one god(Not the Christian god, just some unnamed deity.). But when he created the world, he split himself into all the gods of today. I choose to follow the teachings of the "Christian" God. Don't like it? Oh well for you. You can laugh as I stay in Hell. But don't laugh for long, cause I'll be on my way there, taking every homosexual to heaven with me. They are on their pursuit of happiness. The Christian God should be happy for that.
So, I have Christian beliefs and pagan beliefs. Don't like it, then go somewhere else.

No he's a technichristian! So either you you are drowning in jesus or your a heathen...is that right?

I am with all the way!!!

Agua, Read your Bible, it does cover that. First you have to read the Bible. Before you freak, I am not saying you have to find religion, just if you read for yourself no one will have to tell you where it says that and then you will see it with your own eyes. When i was in the military they said the human brain only retains 10 percent of the knowledge it actually sees which is why training for various fields is repeated over and over. A Christian may not be able to show you even though they know it is there because the Bible is a really big book (that they study over and over), my suggestion would be to look in Genesis, Exodus and Job.

Why would I freak about reading a book? I still wonder why no one answer me directly instead of saying "hey it mentions something here" Please save me the time and effort, help me out, and be a bit more guiding.

If God made the Earth and then made man, where did the dinosaurs come in? There is evidence that humans and dinosaurs never coexisted. This is a question that has been plaguing me for years and no Christian ever wants to answer me for some reason...

I wish I had an ansswer for you. I don't think that there is an answer. I am a Christian, but I certainly don't even pretend to know everything. But I do know this, God makes more sense than a big oozing puddle of mud that suddenly erupts into life or whatever it is that they teach now. And I really like movies about dinosaurs and I hope that God someday explains it all to me. It should be quite a conversation.
God bless. Oh yes, the Bible does mention Leviathon and the rather large fish in Jonah. But I really don't know how it all happened, I guess I don't really think it's that pressing for me to know. I just think it's pretty cool that God gives us something to scratch our heads about. Plus, I am old enough to remember when the platypus was first discovered. They thought it was a hoax. There is no end to the amazing world that God created.

In Job, there is evidence of dinosaurs. Christians should not deny that God made dinosaurs. Of course, our movie makers have sensationalized them by making them really big! The majority of them were no larger than regular livestock.

Timmy, I've read the bible, I was Christian, I still go to church (not my choice really but still). Do not try to say what is and is not there and what I will see when I read. I used to read the bible thoroughly, a chapter at a time aloud in the car as my mom took me to school. I am not a random ignorant person who goes on and on without knowing anything about the topic.

So in other words they evolved and became different over the years? Do tell me where in Job does it say "...and the T-rex bit off a man’s arm and skipped away"? And it's not just movies that make them big, there are things called fossils that let humans see things of the past.

Julia B., you're scaring me. I'm fed up with all the people who say "God created the world" instead of just saying "I believe God created the world".

Do you know what is the act of imposing your own beliefs onto others and defining them as solid truths instead of just beliefs ? That's the very definition of fanatism. And fanatics are scary, dangerous people that we don't want around.

Hi Aurelien, "God created EVERYTHING!" and by the way "I" do believe "God created the world" :) I'll keep you in my prayers! Peace Be With You!

In the histry , Christianity had been denying that the earth is round while it said their god creates the world. The person who created the world even didn,t let know any ardent believer including pope the most simple fact that the earth is round while he gave many other messages. That is too strange.Christianity even prosecuted the scientists who told the facts. It is questionable that god which had been said in Christianity exist.

Absolutly True!! But don't blame a religion for the Faults of man. There Have been Very Bad popes, but that does not change the core belief of the church and what it teaches. Sorry a bit off topic, but replying to what's posted. :)

In God We Trust was a campaign by the McCarthyists in the 1950's to dissolve the secular principles this country was founded upon. Just because most of us heard it our whole lives does not make it true. God doesn't favor this country above any others. Let's give the churches the power to interpret what they think God wants, and let our schools and government concentrate on REALITY. You have the freedom to think of God any way you like in this country and that right should be protected. And the rest of us need to be protected from whatever your church decides to enact into law whatever they think God might want. This is why, religious or not, we must ALL protect the separation of church and state. Otherwise we end up as bad as the middle east.

Your statement is a little short sighted. If you look, one of the main reasons Why this country was started was so that "Christian" religions could practice freely without the intervention of the King! "Church" was part of this country's foundation from the get go, and that should Never be forgotten, or your right we Will end up like a radical nation whoever that may be. So if that means a worthless piece of paper with a presidents picture on it or that piece of metal clanking around in your pocket states "In God We Trust", or if there's a plaque on a wall in a judicial court room or even if the pledge of allegiance states the name God, well IT SHOULD because that IS what the forefathers believed in when they started this country. You know history well, I ask you to go a bit further back! Take Care.

God created the world, where would it be without him? How can the gov't run a non corrupt country and how can school be safe without the help of God. The world is going down the tube, there is so much violence and sex and all that crap, we need to remember that God runs this world no matter what the gov't says. He created it, therefore he should be taken into account in decisions in politics and in the way we want our children to be brought up in school.

God should be kept in schools... in History of Religions course, not elsewhere. Teaching the kids that different people have different beliefs is the right thing to do. By having kids officially pray together in school, you're establishing that religion is more relevant than atheism... and that's being intolerant and disrespectful. People can pray at home, or in their head. Not during school-endorsed "praying times".

"Well" I believe I just witnessed an heated debate. But the sad thing about it is, this only happened because religion was brought up. I've noticed that a few of you speak out the side of your neck, which is to be expected. Am I the only one who has noticed how all this so-called freedom is turning things from bad to worse? Those of you who don't have the faith to believe in our father in heaven, well that's fine. I don't remember all that religion, you all speak of in school. I also can't believe that saying one nation under GOD, is really as bad as some would like others to believe. But maybe saying the word god carries more strength than any of us know. Now maybe those whom are getting entirely a little to upset has had personal experiences in public schools with their children. But I remember when the good athiest man made that super big issue about suing everybody 'cause his child had to say the word God while pledging allegance to the flag. Look people its really strange to me, that those who don't believe in God seem so afraid to say the word god. Although Satan and his evil spirited followers have no problem with saying it or quoting scriptures from the bible. What I'm saying is before he pulled that lawsuit card, the pledge of allegance wasn't bothering anyone else to that point where they had to ruin it for other children. I believe the man was scared his kids would like it. But that's my opinion and I'm entitled to it, just as he is. I think if it bothers you that much then homeschool your children, instead of ruining it for others who parents obviously didn't care and crime was way down. Oh wow I almost forgot aqua b. the skeptic,I wonder do you believe we are in our last days, anyway sweetie listen up. First off I don't want you to take anything I or anyone say at face value, instead I want you to investigate. Also I'll try and help you locate the tools, is that cool with you? Okay, you will need an King James Bible, an concordance, Strong's is one of the better choices. A companion bible might help you out a little also. Now since we're all online here instead of picking these books up, you can also look them up. You know whatever is clever. In the concordance you will find dictionary's of different tongues (languages) inside. Such as the hebrew translations and the greek even some arabic. Now what I like about this book or website is,whatever word is giving you trouble you can look up in either language dictionary that you so choose. Then once you get there you can see from the list of words which fits. This way if you find that it has been transliterated instead of translated you can't blame any one except you. I wish that I could hand you the manuscript and watch you figure it out. well I have something I have to do but I'm pretty sure I'll see you here again.

Hey, well said. All of the atheists I have met have had something happen in their past and they are bitter. God is not something to fear, but something to respect. He does not shun you or make you feel less, he makes you feel better, happier. I have heard people tell me that I am just trying to find an excuse for my beliefs. That I just believe in God because it's convenient. Sorry to burst your bubble, but that is not true. He is REAL, you may not believe in Him but he believes in you and he always will. It does not matter what you think or say, how much you try to prove he doesn't exist because he will still exist. He is still God, no matter how many times people say he's not there. You can't make God go away just by wishing or saying that he is gone. He is God, the Father in Heaven we all came from. Even if you don't believe in Him he still created you.

I am a Christian and I disagree with the 'convenient' theory. I find being a Christian is anything but conveneint. It's hard to trust in God sometimes, and believe He is going to see you through a seemingly impossible situation. I think it's more convenient to not believe in anything, to just think that you're the one in charge, but in the end, when everything falls apart, who do they call? :) and that's the problem. America has become one of the laziest nations on earth.

What part of "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion" don't you people understand? Not ALL Americans are Christians. If you want to pray, do it at home or in church. Public school is just that -- public. For everyone.

That's right--the Christian way is push breaking the law in their own interests as opposed to the interests of the majority (as Christianity has not been for a very long time).

i'm right there with you so people from other countries think its disrespect to keep god in school they need to back were they came from

You live in a county named after Native Americans. Tell me again who needs to go back to where?
