Description:

How many of you are sick and tired of hearing about the government and schools wanting to take God out of school and politics? I don't know about you, but i am, so i started this petition in hopes that enough people will sign it and KEEP GOD IN AMERICA. IN GOD WE TRUST!!
Tell a FriendCreate a CampaignBookmark

Its not just people from other countries that think its disrespectful mind you. It also happens to be people who are able to see humans and society as a whole and not just for their 'group' so to speak. People who can become criminal profilers, anthropologists and sociologists aqnd good ones. That and people who are mindful of how other people might feel and want the least amount of grief.

sure thing bub. as soon as you get the 50 states to ratify a new pro-theocracy based constitution. try reading the document our governmental principles are founded upon and then make the case. i havent got a problem with prayer in school or the ten commandments in front of court houses, but thats only because i want the federal government out of my state as much as possible. the feds have clearly defined limits of power in the constitution. if they would but remember THAT then people (like you and those who signed this petition) would rarely have to worry about their religion being threatened by government. states laws protect religion in state governments as far as they see fit. the constitution mostly applies to the federal government and its LACK of authority.

Look the point of this is to say that god needs to be put in school and government. And as I stated before, no one is forcing "god" out so to speak, beliefs change as time does. The children that are taught creation from a young age tend tyo believe it and children who learn evolution tend to believe it, if you taught both in school you coulnt be totally sure that that would make children believe one over the other. When i was christian i belived both to an extent. Things do evolve and change, like animals, plants and trees to adapt to their enviorment. I still dont really believe that people came from monkeys and frankly i dont care, we are here now and thats all that matters.

I was unaware that mere mortals were able to force God out of anywhere. PS To the people speaking on Creationism vs Evolution, there is way more evidence to support Evolution than Intelligent Design/Creationism. Age of the Earth, fossil records, etc etc. Simply saying someone is making a blanket unsubstantiated assertion doesn't doesn't make your assertion any more substantiated.

We need to allow Students to Pray and worship God in schools and anywhere. We need more discipline also in schools. We need to teach creation science in schools.
Evolution is not a proven idea.

Neither is the mythology of the bible now is it? At least science offers the fliexbility of changing with the addition of new information. Religion on the other hand refutes any additional information as blasphemy.

If you want to see what religious teachings offers people in place of science, look at the middle east. Proof enough of why god and religion need to stay out of the classroom.

umm creation isn't proven either. except by a book that has been manipulated and changed throught the time it was written. No one knows what the original bible said, and there are many corrupt "christians" who use it to their advantage

Aqua: I can identify with the fact that neither creation, nor evolution are facts because they are simply theories that are based on different kinds of evidence. But, to then make a blanket accusation that nobody knows what was in the "original" Bible and that it was manipulated and changed is simply untrue. There has only been one consistent oral tradition that produced one document in Hebrew and Greek languages and it has been historically and archeologically attested to by many scholars. To deny that the Bible contains historical narratives is to deny Shakespeare or other ancient documents.

....I didnt say it was all fake, but obviously you dont see humans for what they can truly be. At one point, people used the bible to say that God wanted the whites to own slaves, they also used the bible to say that abusing your wife is okay, and there are many more. How many people do you know who can read hebrew or Greek, not one i suspect. Do you think all translators are good honest people, who will tell you the truth even if it puts them in the wrong?

Because people interpreted the Bible wrong, does not mean that the original translation or the generally accepted truth was changed. I happen to know many scholars who know biblical Hebrew and Greek; and in fact, I am one who is studying it. Even if one scholar decides to place his own bent on what the translation says....like some liberal scholars try to do today; conservative scholars remind them of the actual translation. The broad general translation...at the very least; is very reliable. When it comes down to it, many can try to shed doubt on the truth by saying it is translated wrong or they have a difference of opinion; but that does not change the objective truth that has been established in history. People would rather rename and reinterpret truth than bow down to God.

And that is what you believe. I never said that the original bible is wrong, but are you reading the definite original scrolls. All I'm saying is that humanity is corrupt, however there are many truthful people, but my point was that you can't live by every single word of something, that at some point was altered for the benifit of whoever was able to read it. I will accept the fact that there is a chance im wrong and I think its wonderful you are trying to see for yourself instead of hanging and believing everyone's word.

You would only know by studying the Bible that there are no errors. The original manuscripts have been wonderfully preserved. In example, someone was asking me about views concerning women and basing those views on what they thought was in the Bible. When I think about this, the fact is: there are only a few specific references that refer to the topic of equality of women and men. So, if all these Scriptures are in agreement with each other; then where is the error? The Bible says one thing about this. Men and women are equal in God's eyes and should be treated as such. Now, it has more to say concerning ministry in church and so forth, but the point is made: Unity between Scriptures does not reveal error. Also, the unity and preservation of major parts of Scripture attest to its accuracy.

evolution is far more accurate than creationism.

"evolution is far more accurate" -Another blanket unsubstantiated assertion.

am a Christian guy and thought I would just say, "Prayer is not prohibited in public schools."  Also, I thought it might be mentioned that it is not the public school's job to teach our kids morality, although they should enforce morals.  In other words, if we are concerned with our children praying, we should teach them to pray and tell them that they are free in America to pray whenever they want to.

From my own experience having served through this education process and I'm glad I did because if I did'nt I would have had the chance to meet all the people or classmates that I was blessed in bringing in contact with whether good or bad not to judge other people treat anyone fairly whom God puts near in any of my classes.

I think, with all that's been going over the past twenty-five, thirty, or even forty years of education and even work-related we as a nation, communities need some kind of higher standard that's being portrayed in such mass abundance. Through whatever medium that people might think up next to cause humiliation or unease of peace of mind.

I agree with you, I'd like to see "God" in a school, heck I'd like to see "God" anywhere.I'm kinda surprised though, I wasnt aware "God" was ever in any schools. Maybe "God" can explain where he has been all these years.

Smile Good going. All children should be able to pray if thay want to.

Question: Is the aim of this petition to introduce compulsory prayer for everyone, or simply to allow people who want to pray to pray (to the god of their choice), while the rest of us can go off and do more profitable things? If the former, I oppose it utterly, but if the latter, I have no problem with it.

In reply to Mary D's posting, below: Actually, no. The founding fathers were very clear on the idea that there should be a separation between religion and state. It's their greatest contribution to human freedom. Read your constitution.

Andrew you always interpret things your own way.  The Constitution gives freedom of religion, yet in your versions it always come out as "freedom FROM religion."

When the constitution states there shall be seperation between church and state, it means there will be no state reliigion.  It says only that a political office can not be the same as a religous office.  The constitution always meant religion to play a role in government

God Rejected

We, unfortunately, have ignored Our Founding Fathers' Warnings. As a result, America is rejecting God's headship over our nation through the Hearts of America's People, the Leaders We Elect, the Laws We Pass, and Activist Court Decisions.

Hearts of America's People

Desensitizing of America

Things that once appalled us now have become commonplace. We have heard so much evil that it doesn't bother us anymore. Even Christians have fallen pray! Isaiah 6:9 urges Christians to use their Christian senses, lest they too become desensitized.

Accepting the Humanists Agenda

America is no longer guided by Christian principles. Secular humanism now directs the public affairs of our nation. This philosophy denies God, Christ and the Bible. When we remove God's standards, then man is free to substitute his own standards of morality and we disallow the divinity of Christ and His completed work on the cross. Then there is no longer any need for God and His atoning grace. The moral compass points to what is right in the eyes of each individual without respect to God's standards.

God's word in Judges 21:25 says, "In those days every man did that which was right in his own eyes." Is that a description of our country today? Many people today do their own thing without regard to God's will. The question is asked, "Isn't one person's values as good as another's?" Many in our society, including some Christians, believe the answer to this is, "YES".

Where Has the Church Been? Christians and the Church have been asleep!!!

Thomas Jefferson once said,

"The price of freedom is eternal vigilance." (80)

Secure in prosperity and accepting of humanist philosophies such as separation of church and state, churches have settled into perpetual states of indifference and apathy toward the public affairs of our nation. Consequentially, our government has incrementally and systematically proceeded to remove God from the fiber of America unhindered by the constraining power of God's Word or His Church.

At the same time as the soul of our nation is moving further away from God, Churches seem overly concerned with programs, buildings, meetings, fundraising and attracting financially secure churched families. Simple discipleship and evangelism are no longer supreme priorities in many churches

Community churches aggressively compete with one another for churched families through new program offerings, added services such as child daycare and improved facilities. This polarizes community churches from one another and lessens their witness in the communities they serve. Most disturbing of all, pulpit messages across America are being distilled with popular secular philosophies and ideas.

In Revelations, Christ charged that the church at Ephesus "had left its first love." Is that a valid commentary of our nation's churches today?

Leaders We Elect

Our forefathers believed that a person couldn't even serve in public office without acknowledging a belief in God and His principles. Many of the Original State Constitutions written by our forefathers shortly after their signing of the Declaration of Independence affirm this position.

Our forefathers believed that each citizen was accountable to his fellow citizens, God and his country to elect only those leaders faithful to religious principles and high moral standards. Our forefathers believed that this was the sign of a true patriot. Consider the following quotes:

Abigail Adams

"[A] true patriot must be a religious man. [H]e who neglects his duty to his Maker, may well be expected to be deficient and insincere in his duty towards the public." (81)

Noah Webster

"When a citizen gives his suffrage [vote] to a man of known immorality he abuses his trust [civil responsibility]; he sacrifices not only his own interest, but that of his neighbor, he betrays the interest of his country." (82)

Conversely, in America today, we are told that what is done in one's private life is a private matter. Private behavior should not influence our view of a leader's ability to serve in a public office.

America has embraced this untruth. Religious principle and moral standards are no longer an integral part of our nation's political process. Immoral leaders saturate our political landscape. This has resulted in the moral decay of America's political process, her laws and her judiciary.

Laws We Pass

Secular humanism gave you everything you have now. I guess you want to go back to deficating on the ground and dying before your 50yrs old.

You read it. The constitution contains the suggestion that the government should be removed from the church, but not the church from the government. The church could then perform to its full potential and the government would retain its vital religious basis. There is not a complete separation. Where do you think we get our basic government structure from? Also religion has had a huge part in history, to ignore that big a portion of history is not altogether wise, lessons can be learnt. I see no reason why the effects of religious (christian and non-christian) cannot be discussed in history class. Also do not people have a human right to be educated and know about religion? Why limit people to one version of how the world began. Schools should cover all religions, including atheism and the belief in macroevolution as that is also a faith. Let people choose for themselves. Rule out non-belief with belief, or allow non-belief with belief.

Amendment I (Clause II)  [The only reference to religion in the entire constitution]

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or
prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or
of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition
the Government for a redress of grievances.

No, that sounds nice, but, a man can not serve two masters as you suggest. Eventurally he must choose.  The church could never ever perform to its full potential because ultimately that precept puts the church under the government.  It sounds reasonable but in fact is a trap the church has fallen into before to it's great regret everytime.

This is all any nation needs, nothing needs to be added to it and it should have never been taken ou of our schools and courts.  We need it as a reminder.

36"Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?" 37Jesus replied: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.'[b] 38This is the first and greatest commandment. 39And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'[c] 40All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

The constitutional ammendment only refers to government not interfering with religion; which essentially was to prevent state-run churches. Schools are in the unique position to educate concerning all kinds of various topics. When you make an argument from Scripture that suggests that we must choose one or the other; you misconstrued Jesus' words. When Jesus asks us to choose, he is primarily referring to a spiritual choice..or spiritual leadership from him instead of Satan. To then impose human government into the context of this Scripture is to violate it's contextual truth.

God is far more important than a piece of paper andy one who does not fight to get God back into schools do not know the ultimate outcome of their actions

The Sheep and the Goats

31"When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his throne in heavenly glory. 32All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34"Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.'

37"Then the righteous will answer him, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?'

40"The King will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.'

41"Then he will say to those on his left, 'Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.'

44"They also will answer, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?'

45"He will reply, 'I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.'

46"Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life."

'shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion' -- I interpret this to mean, 'No church in government'. But if I'm wrong and you're right, there is still the phrase 'the free exercise thereof', with emphasis on the 'free'. If prayer is voluntary and not compulsory, and if those who don't want to pray are allowed to leave the venue before the prayers start, in order to pursue more productive activities, that's fine by me.

When compared to this, those things have no importance at all.

How can people learn these things, what's expected of them unless God is in schoo.  When it battle becomes between church and state, people should decide which is more important.  Perhaps it's time to get rid of our school boards, disobey the Supreme Court, disoobey Congress.  The are taking away more each day. Unless we stop and draw a line in the sand some where, God will ask us, "You obeyed a piece of paper instead of me?"

Hi Levi

_Which_ god do you want in schools and government? Allah? The Christian God? The Jewish God? Bramah? The Japanese Sun Goddess? Ahura Mazda? And why choose that particular one?

Levi don't let Andrew get you down, Andrew tries to bully people with a tome about free speech for some but not for people who belive in God until they leave, unfortunately he failed with me there and I will not back down now.

When I first posted a passage in the Bible Andrews response was this "You are in a public forum now Mathew.  Unless you are in the four walls of your church you have no right to poison us with your Bible.  It has no place in this discussion, it has no place outside your church"

Levi, I don't know if you are Jewish or Christian.  I am a Christian but I would like to tell you something about when I went to school.  I remember a day long long ago in middle school when Jewish children and Christian children had an hour each during shcool time and it was a credit course to study their own religion.  I think that should be re-instated.  Nobody was ever out of place.  The only group who could not get a credit were the Atheist and that was they could not find an Atheist to teach the course, they eventually voted to have another study hall.

Hebrew School seemed to be a wonderful thing and I would like to see it in public schools again.   For me as a Christian it was wonderful to see a Rabbi who had devoted his life to the Torah.  We Christians fling the Bible about, but he handled it like it was a very holy thing.

But to hear the Bible in it's original language, well there were a few of us who listened in the hall.

These are the true foundation of any nation not some piece of paper.

The Ten Commandments

1 Moses summoned all Israel and said:
Hear, O Israel, the decrees and laws I declare in your hearing today. Learn them and be sure to follow them. 2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us at Horeb. 3 It was not with our fathers that the LORD made this covenant, but with us, with all of us who are alive here today. 4 The LORD spoke to you face to face out of the fire on the mountain. 5 (At that time I stood between the LORD and you to declare to you the word of the LORD, because you were afraid of the fire and did not go up the mountain.) And he said:

6 "I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

7 "You shall have no other gods before [a] me.

8 "You shall not make for yourself an idol in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below. 9 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the fathers to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me, 10 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.

11 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.

12 "Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you. 13 Six days you shall labor and do all your work, 14 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest, as you do. 15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

16 "Honor your father and your mother, as the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live long and that it may go well with you in the land the LORD your God is giving you.

 17 "You shall not murder.

18 "You shall not commit adultery.

 19 "You shall not steal.

20 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

21 "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife. You shall not set your desire on your neighbor's house or land, his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to your neighbor."

22 These are the commandments the LORD proclaimed in a loud voice to your whole assembly there on the mountain from out of the fire, the cloud and the deep darkness; and he added nothing more. Then he wrote them on two stone tablets and gave them to me.
