Description: As few as 3,500 Snow Leopards are left in the wild today. The snow leopard is supremely adapted to its mountain home – with their thick furry tails nearly as long as the rest of their bodies, dense, woolly fur and markings that camouflage them against the rocky slopes.
The main threat to the snow leopard's survival comes from human activities. Snow leopards are hunted illegally for their pelts. They also face retribution killings from herders over livestock and their habitat is being degraded and fragmented. Many people in the mountain communities throughout snow leopard habitat live on less than $1 a day. They just don't have resources to protect snow leopards. Luckily, snow leopards have a unprecedented opportunity for added protection from the U.S. Government through the Great Cats and Rare Canids Act - making its way through Congress right now! Sorry, but I don't agree the snowmen are MORE important than snow leopards or any other lived been. Any extinction have to be complained.
Since I am a child, I hear "why are you concerned 'bout tigers if there is such poverty around?".
Actually, if you have a look, you will see that Environment is more and more cheated and poverty and violence just grew up.
ITS TIME TO STOP ANTROPOCENTRISM AND TAKE CARE OF ALL OUR ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL PROBLEMS AT ONCE.
The world is not only human home.
And sincerely, thinking the way we cheat it, we have absolutely no higher rights than any other lived been else.

It seems to me the government could do more to stop poachers and they could do more to protect th environment of the snow leopard from shrinking. It was sad to see only 3500 were left, it doesn't seem right somehow. They are beautiful creatures.

L'm glad that this organisation is doung somethig to try keeping these animals alive.
Its a shame that people are killing these animals just because of there fur.
Like, sharks and whales, they are fairly un-protected, and nothing is being done. Something has to happen soon.
