Description:

Right now, Congress is debating the future of the Internet. The good news is national lawmakers in Washington have successfully protected Internet access from Federal taxes. The bad news is that the laws that keep Internet access tax-free will EXPIRE NOVEMBER 2007. Congress should protect American consumers and achieve the bi-partisan goal of passing the "Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act of 2007" which seeks to permanently extend the moratorium on Internet access taxes and duplicative taxes on e-commerce.

We, the undersigned, support the "Permanent Internet Tax Freedom Act of 2007".

Internet should always be tax free  this is a government plot to screw everyone if they tax it  Cook county ILL wants to be the highest taxed county  hooray for idiots
No new taxes, internet or otherwise, better government money managing is the real answer
I grew up in Boston and there are already to many taxes in this country, we don't need another one for something so stupit as taxing the internet. lets keep it the way it is.
I THINK IT SHOULD BE TAX FREE. WE HAVE SO MANY TAXES NOW THAT I THINK IT IS CRAZY TO TAX SOMETHING ELSE. SOME OF THESE OTHER THINGS THAT ARE TAXED SHOULD NOT BE TAXED AT ALL. PLEASE STOP THE TAX NOW!!!!!

When they invented Value Added Tax (VAT), even the lawmakers at that time didn't think they would get away with it, because «how on earth is placing a box from one hand into the other supposed to increase its value?». Unfortunately, in those centuries people were uninformed and unaware.

Today, laws are still heavily influenced and lobbied by a bunch of small groups (oligopols) because, for instance, a few cents more at the gas pump have a much more significant impact on their accounts than on those of the millions of ordinary mortals.

And then there is government, always eager to invent another extra tax on top of those we already pay. Has anybody even noticed that we are already paying taxes for the use of the Internet? We purchase computer hard- and software and electricity, pay phone and Internet providers, pay for the merchandise that we order and its shipping fees, and so on. The companies on their end pay taxes as well, just like any other business. So what could possibly be an excuse for adding another tax on top of all that?

If state or federal government want to make a modification to the tax system, modify the absurd «VAT only in the same state» policy. This insane nonsense causes unnecessarily long transports, both in time and distance, which only damages the environment. Have everybody pay the same VAT, no matter where they are located or ordering from, that would al least make some sense.

The days that aspects like «making sense» or «being fair/reasonable/comprehensible» were taken into consideration by institutions and policy makers may long be gone, but why not at least start with them and leave the others for later?

I have located a site of which is located approx. 5.0 miles Northwest of Powell Canyon green check marker (star), and 21.0 miles Southeast of the Flying M Ranch. The color in this site looks to

SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT!!!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed .

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.

Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.

Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries, then
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass

Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin ,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb ,
" Taxes drove me to my doom..."

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply
The inheritance tax.

STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the
Most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had
The largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the
Kids.

What happened? Can you spell "politicians!"

And... I still have to "press 1" for English.

I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times

If this country would stop taxing its citizens and collect all the loans they graciously give to every country that asks.  We would not have a deficit and would not have problems with social security and medicare.  This country needs to start thinking about the people in their own borders instead of other countries.
Governments, all of them, Federal, State and Local, rarely meet a tax they didn't like.  And they are at it again, concocting a really bad one.  It would have a repressive effect on network health and expansion and is a fairly rotten idea.  They need to keep their greedy little hands out of our pockets.  Let's all work together and try to stop this one in its tracks!
Taxing the Internet is an other way for governments to control and bring restrictions to fundamental rights or civil liberties.
I completely agree, If I ran my company like the US Govt. I would be out of business. They are chipping away at the foundation of this great country by acting that we have an endless supply of cash via the taxpayer. We have to draw a line somewhere.
no #$%@ way am i going to pay a tax to have the internet... thats absurd!!! what a load of #%&#!!!

snatchin civil liberties

This goverment is near the end as everybody can see. Its dealing with the rest of the world for the past 40 years are catching up to it. From the secret bombings in cambodia to the condor operation. Many south american countries are turning leftist and they are having dealing with iran. So united states should beware. When they have stretched their troops so thin that they can't even properly control iraq. This is another thing that the american people are gunna let it slide. The people need to organize we can only fully realize democracy when the people have a voice in there goverment. We need to protest we need to voice our opinion this the only way to balance it out. Balance out the goverment by making sure they do what we say. Democracy is for the people not for the corporations but that meaning has been lost in this supposebly god saved country

Government in the so called Western World are near to the same precipice that cause the fall of the Roman Empire. Too much government has led to more socialism than democracy. Stop the insanity.
I agree with Sterling J. The government should be working on the budget and not trying to find a new way to tax the individuals of this great country. Another suggestion is to help with the Social Secuirty system I think that everyone should have to pay into the system. I know that congress does not pay into the system, and yet they take a paycheck while they are in office, and continue to do so when they retire. I think the Social Security system would be straightened out really fast if all of Congress had to pay into the system and draw retirement just like every other human in the great United States of America.
Ridiculous. Instead of trying to tax the life out of everything that moves, let's see the Government and Congress being responsible with their budget and allocation of resources.
