Description:

So I saw the new Knight Rider this weekend.  I have to say I have mixed emotions about this movie.  First of all if I didn’t happen to set up a myspace account, I wouldn’t have even heard about it.  For something that was so poorly advertised it was drenched with commercials.  There had to be a commercial block at least every five minutes.  There was also a three chapter commercial with a plot where KITT gets jealous of Mike for driving another ford.

But whatever stuff on TV needs to make money so I can forgive the commercials.  As far as plot structure, cinematography, and action I thought, the film, not sure if that’s the right word, was pretty awesome.  I thought Justin Bruening (Mike Traceur) totally nailed what Michael Knight’s son would be like.  The leading lady, Sydney Tamiia Poitier (Carrie Rivai), is wicked smart and wicked hot.  She will remind old fans of Bonnie from the original series.  I also liked Val Kilmer as the voice of KITT; he added 21st century coolness to the roll especially in his discourse with Mike.

Of course a few complaints rear their ugly heads.  The car's new technology is to be expected.  It now has healing capabilities and it can change its shape and color due to the magic of nanotechnology.  The only thing is in 1982 KITT didn’t need to heal himself because he was almost indestructible.  He didn’t need to hide himself because he was A. Indestructible and B. Uncatchable.  The first 10 minutes of the movie is KITT trying to loose some guys in a mountain pass.  But, whatever I can chalk that up to super bad guys.  The only other complaints are that KITT didn’t take out any walls and there was NO TURBO BOOST.  I realize NBC probably didn’t allocate a whole lot of budget to this film, but if you are going to make something and put the name Knight Rider on it then I want to see that car jump over something.  The best is the combo when KITT jumps and busts through a second story window to save Michael, ahhh those were the days.  I am not a film critic so I’m not going to talk stars or thumbs but I would say over all the film was pretty awesome and I would probably watch it if it were made into a series.  Either way, comment below and tell me and others what you think.  You can catch the encore presentation on NBC Saturday February 23 at 9:00PM.  If you liked the new Knight Rider Sign This Petition.

I thought it had potential. Although the entire "movie" was like a big Ford commercial in itself. I can't count how many times they showed the ford insignia and cobra.
They need to replace the Cobra insignia with the FLAG horse insignia.
I am disappointed that GM didn't take the opportunity to come out with a new Trans Am as well. But C'est La vie.
Definetly need to bring back Turbo Boost though.

At first I had a mixed emotion on the Show/Movie. Then, after I reviewed some episodes of the old one. I should admire that The new is pretty good. And I was a very kid watch the old one, and I hope the legend of Knight Rider could be continueing..

would like to this in series form

I also liked the new Knight Rider. I thought it was great, especially David Hassellhoff reprises his role as Michael Knight, the original driver of KITT. I also noticed that KITT added a thousand years. In the 80s, KITT stood for Knight Industries TWO thousand, now it's Knight Industries THREE thousand - that was very clever!! I liked the idea that KITT now has a lot more capabilities than the old KITT did & it makes sense since it's 25 years later. However, I don't recall Michael Knight having a girlfriend or a son - which is probably since I was so young when it was on the air, but I buy the storyline! I hope they make it into a series - I'd watch it!!!!!

Actually, Michael Knight married David Hasselhoff's real-life wife at the time Catherine Hickland (a singer), but her character was killed before the end of the two-part episode, toward the end of the original series and Michael almost beat the guy responsible almost to death. KITT told him not to, or he would be just as bad as the killer. There was, however, no mention of a child. But, then again, in this movie, the mother was still alive during the movie and she and Michael never married.

MAKE THIS A SERIES. WE LOVED IT.

I thought it was great! Needs to become a series!

It would be sweet if they made a new show.

IT WAS GREAT!!

I thought it was ok. I didn't really think there was much action in the new "movie" as opposed to the old KITT and I missed Mr. Feeny as the voice but Val Kilmer is pretty cool as well. The main thing I wasn't fond of at all was the fact that the new car was a Ford Mustang Cobra. I mean.. come ON! I'm not a big fan of those cars and tryin to make that car indestructible would be near immpossible. Haha, other than all that I enjoyed it.
