Description:

Do you want 3 days of peace and music? No, we're not talking about Woodstock '94 or '99 (both which, sadly, failed miserably).

This is a petition for Woodstock 2009. One that will be as close to Woodstock '69 as possible. No violence or anger, just peace, love, and some great music. This would be Woodstock's 40th aniversary! We are hoping to have as many of the original artists as possible and similar artists perform.

All you need to do is click the "sign" button and you have put Woodstock '09 one step closer to existing.

By signing this petition, you are petitioning for a Woodstock like the original, with hopefully the same stage setting and similar or same artists. We need this more than ever!

Peace and Love

I was there in '69. I showed up a week before the festival to work and stayed a week and a half afterwrds to help clean up the site. Though I sincerely believe you cannot recreate the event, it would be nice if some sort of musical commemeration featuring (only) some of the original groups could be held at the original site. Anything held anywhere else would be as commercial and as lacking in spontaneity and spirit as Woodstock '94 and '99. You cannot recreat something that "happened," but you can honor and celebrate it. I live in Eupope these days but would gladly fly over to attend such an event...
I hope it becomes a reality. I live in NYC. I read that Mr. Lang is planning on a one day festival in Prospect Park in Brooklyn. He will need 8 to 10 million dollars to back it. Maybe he can find 10 big rock stars to chip in the bread. The reason the concert will only be one day is because He is concerned about the viability of a three day event with our economy in such a sorry state. He indicated that he wants the event to be totaly free. I wonder if Mr Lang realizes that New York City no longer permits totally "FREE" concerts. Let me explain. Back in the 70's and 80's, if Elton John or Paul Simon held a concert, everybody could attend. Today the city prints out tickets. You must stand in line to receive these tickets. If the city prints up thirty thousand tickets, only thirty thousand can attend. This technically is not a "free" concert. One of the great pieces about Woodstock was the attendence. I hope Mr. Lang is aware of this issue before he signs anything. Please inform him of this city policy. If he must hold it some place else to achieve the totaly free status,I will understand. I will drive to the ends of the Earth to experience another Woodstock. PS Mr Lang indicated he will be booking bands who worked Woodstock 69. Any new bands must have the same vibe as the performers from 1969. For the young people out there, I hope this does not deter you from attending. If you want to know what to expect watch the Woodstock movie. If Mr. Lang is able to book any of those groups, remember, they will not have the same amount of energy. They are in their early to mid sixties. They do not kick it, unfortunately, like they did when they were in their twenties. pss. Yasguer's farm was 600 acres Prospect Park has 525 acres to offer for the concert. psss. Please book Fleetwood Mac. They will be a perfect fit. Stevie Nicks would be on cloud nine.

A vdream of my life can come true!!

You can not reproduce the past< no matter how great the first one was it will never be that great again.Woodstock was about the time, what was going on in the world. It is not now, nor was it all about the music. It can't be done again sorry.

In our nation's wake of change, I believe we need a woodstock-like concert; perhaps the location should be changed. I know Lollapalooza claims Grant Park, but why couldn't Woodstock '09? It could symbolize the progression, yet coherence, of our most American moments over the past 40 years.

Woodstock 2009 would be great. Angry bands bring angry fans -we don't need that. Having a great line up is the key to success. Woodstock 1969 is the past but it was great (although I wasn't born) -we can make it great again in 2009. Leave rage at home -welcome peace and love.

Man who cares that it passed? The point is that it had amazing music that many of us were born to late to experience (me). A great copy of Woodstock is better than giving up hope and keep listening to whatever crap the media spoon-feeds us.

wood stock was a once in a lifetime thing leave it in the past and move on

Some things bear repeating, get eight hours of sleep, exercise, eat your vegetables and so on. The list of well meant homilies goes on forever, but a repeat of Woodstock isn't on the list.
Some things can't be repeated, only imitated and imitations just aren't the same as the original. Promoters tried to redo Woodstock twice that I know of and both attempts fell flat on their face.
At the time of Woodstock the concept was new, the music was new, the society we lived in was changing. Woodstock represented where we were as a society. We just are't there anymore.
So, have your music festival, but if you try to recreate something that was you'll be disappointed. Look at it this way, would you rather see Elvis or one of the thousands of impersonators? The Beatles or a "tribute" band? Way too many people look back with nostalgia at a time that was over before they were born. Others are stuck in a time loop and haven't moved on with the rest of the world. Woodstock was, and then it was over. Let it be.

IMAGINE!!!!!! That's A Big Word. I Was At The O G In '69. I'll Never Forget It, Peace, Love, One Hell Of A Thunderstorm, We All Stuck Together For A Common Cause, Actually It Was One Of The Highpoints Of My Life, For When I Got Back To Illinois, I Had Greetings From The President, Many Nights I Sat In Viet Nam And Thought About Those 3 1/2 Glorious Days Of Unity Against A Cause, I Got Stuck In The Middle Of. If It Can Be Done I Would Be Proud To Be A Part Of It. The Other Two Times It Was Tried Were A Farce. If They Could Pull A Lot Of The Originals To Do it, It Would Be Fantastic. Of Course It Won't Be The Same Without Janis, And Jimi. One Of The Things That Still Breaks Me Up Today Is Jimi Playing The Nation Anthem, People Ask Me Why I Get That Way, I Just Say "You Had To Be There It Was A Rush"!!!!!! Peace Love!!!!!!!!

I'd love to attend WoodStock! =] Who wouldnt? Feed Your Head

A Woodstock experience and 40th anniversary celebration, coupled with an atmosphere of peace and love would be wonderful. Can it happen? Yes, it can. I couldn't attend the first one in '69 even though I was invited and many of my friends went, but at 15 I just wasn't allowed. I think I'm old enough now :-) ~ Peace and Love ~

My sons and daughter should experience WOODSTOCK !
Yes, go with the great idea ... loving, caring, sharing and imagine all the world living in
peace !!--- John Lennon wasn't the only dreamer...

I would love to see another Woodstock with great music in an atmosphere of peace and love but could we do without the kids tripping on acid, smoking opium, snorting cocaine, using psychedelic mushrooms, and using many other forms of getting high?

MICHAEL SHRIEVE, SANTANA AND JEFFERSON AIRPLANES! I'd like to see Michael Shrieve's drum sticks fly again like there's no tomorrow!

angels and airwaves definitely have to be there.
