Description:

(I'm sorry for not being specific enough)

Australia sends millions of cattle each year to the middle east where there are no laws against protecting them from animal cruelty. Over there they regularly sell sheep to people where they are thrust into car boots and taken home to be slaughtered. If you would like more information please visit http://www.liveexport-indefensible.com/ and you can see those horrific images for yourself. And like the website says. It is not just about animal rights, it is about righting human wrongs.

Stop buying gas from the middle east then.

STOP THIS!

I feel that Jess W has not been specific anough with her petition. Are we talking live animal export for food purposes like all the ships full of sheep and cattle, or native animals that are on zoo exchanges or being purchased by other zoos? I believe that in the interest of the world, everyone should be able to share in the delight of our native animals and if that means exporting them to other county's zoos, so be it. As for exporting sheep and cattle, yes this has been well documented to be cruel, however it is a HUGE revenue for our country and while we sit and home and complain about it and not offer ideas to help curb this, there isn't much chance for a change. I imagine the governing body for live exports would take on board any sensible suggestions that would reduce risk but still maintain profit margins. Let's face it, in the end it's all about the bottom dollar.

So you would rather have sugar gliders eraditacted in the wild as a pest to farmers crops? If it were not for the exotics trade (or fur trade for that matter (sadly true)) several species would already be extinct. There are animals that your culture finds a pain in the tail, that America and other countries find to wonderful companions. I used to take my sugar glider to work in my shirt pocket.

I really appreciate the thought of your petition, but feel that you may want to think what it really means to stop the trade.
