Luxury Hotels Lost the BibleForum Discussion for Luxury Hotels Lost the Bible Submitted by Sloane P. on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 08:39
This question is improperly worded. It should be, "Will the loss of the Bible in your room make you more or less likely to stay at that hotel?" The way the question is now, one doesn't know whether to answer yes because they approve of the loss, or yes because they disapprove. Submitted by Wesley S. on Sat, 01/26/2008 - 05:03
I think the high end hotels should carry bibles. In hotels when you are tired with nothing to read, the Gideon Bible is sometimes the first Bilbe some people read. The Beatles liked them. I'd suggest the opposite, if people don't like seeing it there then can close the drawer or check out if the hotel does want it there. Why deny other people there chance of getting a free Bible to read while they are at the hotel. Submitted by Matthew V. on Sat, 12/08/2007 - 05:01
I plugged the "Yes" button but somehow it didn't work. I would choose a Luxury hotel that had the Gideon Bible over one that didn't. In another board a person said that we have already lost too much God in our society. I think that's true. Another poster said that hotels can do what they want, that's true too. But it would affect my decision.
The Gideons have done a lot of good work as you mention in your petition and maybe this is a good time for people to think of Gideons when they are doing their giving. The Gideons were never allowed on our school grounds, but I remember the same man who would come every few weeks.
He would stand outside one of the schoolgrounds exits and hand out Bibles to any kid who wanted one. He would never say anything, he never asked anybody if they wanted a Bible but just hold one out and every once in awhile someone would take one. He did that for all the six years I was at that school and it was the Gideons who gave me my very first Bible. Without them I would have never had a Bible at all.
So maybe there is someone in the hotel room who needs one, I think it would be nice if it was there. Submitted by Mary Beth D. on Fri, 12/07/2007 - 22:59
I don't travel much, but I do always check to see if there is a Bible in the drawer. I hate to see traditions go to hell just to stay "politically correct". Loading People... |
