Mass produce a 100 MPG Car for less than $20,00052 Signatures
Description:Design and mass produce a 100 MPG Car for less than $20,000 by re-assigning 50% of all NASA Scientists & Engineers for the next 4 years. Let's face it, our economy is in real trouble and we need to take serious and dramatic steps to develop alternative energy sources and technology to minimize our reliance on fossil fuels and stop the flow of capital to foreign countries for fossil fuels. I believe that if the United States of America could develop the program and technology that allowed us to put a man on the Moon 29 years ago then we can create the necessary technology to mass produce a vehicle capable of 100 MPG based on CNG (compressed natural gas) and Hydrogen Fuel Cell Technology by October of 2012 - 4 years from now. I believe that we should re-assign 50% of all NASA Scientists and Engineers for the next four years to spearhead this project. United States owned companies could participate in the project and own the patents on technologies developed. The United States could then again become the largest producer of automobiles on the planet and put hundreds of thousands of men and women back to work at good paying jobs. WE COULD OWN THIS INDUSTRY IF WE SO CHOOSE! Honda and Toyota are making substantial progress in the development of high mileage vehicles and we cannot afford to be left behind. I have always been a staunch advocate of space exploration and NASA, but at this critical time in the history of this country, I believe we should divert and re-assign 50% of the bright and creative people at NASA into this R&D that will yield tremendous and profound results for this nation. Please join me in lobbying not only your congressional representatives, but friends, neighbors and everyone you know that we the citizens of the United States of America still possess the drive, determination and know how to accomplish this mission. As we know from history the technologies developed as a by product of the Space Program have had a profound effect on the advancement of this country and our economy. Imagine the advances in Alternative Energy sources and technologies that will be by products of this endeavor. We need to do this, we owe it to our children and the more independent this country can become, the safer and better off we'll all be for generations to come. The time to act is now! With out a healthy planit, nothing else matters. where are you going to do anything. or like I say it dosent mean **** to a tree.
Europe and USA Need to do this as soon as possible
otherwise we are going to be in trouble,
Hydrogen economy asap (Dont trade with countrys that use unclean energy)
This is WAY over due.
It's not only time to do this, it should be made affordable for everyone to obtain this type of vehicle and to be able to afford it. Cars are way overpriced for what you get. I remember my first house was $18,000 that you could pay in 30 years, not many years later I bought a car for 18,000 and only had 5 years to pay for it, makes no scence to me!!! Need affordable and high mpg like yesterday, stop putting us on hold. I want to save, high mileage without losing safety.

After hearing the comment on today's program re lipstick on the pig, I turned this show off for good.
The Americian economy needs this as well as our need for foreign oil needs to diminish. Put the jobs back in America we are capable and have the technology to make that happen.

Hey everyone. I'm not from the US, but even I can see that this will be good for the US economy and even the world for that matter. If you look at history, there is a tendency to follow the lead of the US, so I believe if the States can go green the rest of the world will follow quite quickly.
