Issue:
I have done a lot of research on audio encoding and I came to the result that I really like Apples M4A AAC format I rip all my audio disks in iTunes using the setting custom under AAC and I set it to 256kbs VBR with both sample rate and channels set to auto I have learned that with research and all the info that this is the best if you really don’t want to waste space and want identical CD quality no sacrifices but then I hear that it’s a waste of space because AAC doesn’t sound any better at high bit rates like 256kbs or 320kbs people say the best setting is 192kbs VBR so? I have no idea what’s true or not? So I would love to have input as to what’s the best beyond WAV or AIFF uncompressed is huge so it’s really not practical if the right setting in AAC sounds the same but I would love to learn more from others on this never ending issue on what format is better.
Belief:
Wanting to find the best format that’s identical CD quality in a small practical size
