Please Help Keep Guilding Light1566 Signatures
Intended Recipient:Executive Producer Ellen Wheeler. Description:I am writing to you all today to help save a wonderful show. I am going to be sad to see it go. I Don't want it to go please help us change there minds...
(April 1) -- This is not an April Fool's joke (so far, at least) -- 'Guiding Light' will be no more come September. The CBS soap opera that's been in existence for 72 years -- since 1937 on the radio and 1952 on the television -- will air its final episode post-Summer. The Associated Press cites declining daytime ratings and budget as the reason for the show's demise.
Soap Opera Digest, who was the first to report the cancellation, has a response from the show's executive producer, Ellen Wheeler. On the end of 'Guiding Light,' Wheeler said: "Being on the air for more than seven decades is truly remarkable, and it will be difficult for all of us at the show to say goodbye."

Guiding Light is the best soap opera on day or night. It is the ONLY tv show I tune into for every show. Please take bold and the beautiful off the air instead

I do believe they should save the show even if another network takes it and keeps it going. I also think they should not kill off Phillip. Beth and Phillip should get back together. They have many of the cast they have not written anything for until maybe now. This show got into my blood on a Friday afternoon while I just got home from school and Roger fell off the mountain and he was screaming and I found out about this special soap. I was hooked sometimes I can't watch it but I would check in and it was nice to know it was there like home. Now I tape and watch my show. Someone please save this show we have all come to love like our family. If anyone has watch over the years that real life has been played out right in front of our eyes. So please once again save this show Guiding Light that is in our hearts minds and our soul. Lynn B.

I have watched Guiding Light since 1952! And just love Phillip coming back (& want him to stay!!!Not die & leave again) No to the lesbian thing! But the show is like Family to me & want it to stay on! Just won't be the same for it to leave the air! CBS is my soap channel & we don't want any changes! I would hate to give them all up but will!!

My grandmother was Guiding Light fan beginning in radio until the day she died at 89, my 85 year old is a 30 year old fan and I am fan of 30 years. I've tried other soaps and GL is the only soap that does not have lame acting, writing, or put the actors in the sack in an ongoing basis for ratings. The powers that be have to realize THIS is why we are loyal fans and we won't be switching to other soaps, game shows, or talk shows in Guiding Light's time slot. We will not be watching the network PERIOD!

I feel the same way - I will not watch any daytime tv unless it is the GL. Game shows and reality shows suck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have watch Guiding Light for more than 50 years. It's an icon and should be there for as long as there are soaps on the air. You should preserve it for that reason alone.

I really hope that this petition does some good. My grandmothers, aunts, mother and I have all been GL fans - starting with my Grandmothers on the RADIO! It's gotten interesting again, and I would just love to keep it on air.
thanks.

I have watched GL since I was 12 years old. I remember when Phillip first came on , Roger Thorpe ect....Please keep it on. It's such a wonderful show. We don't need anymore talk shows. They're boring, and over rated.

GL has been a part of my life for years. If the network replaces it with another reality, game, or talk show I'm either turning the tv off or changing the channel.

As all the others who have watched GL for all these
years, it is a crime to take it off the air. The
show is better than ever, and the story lines just get better. Please reconsider!!!!

Please don't cancel the guiding light. I have watched it almost from the beginning. My daughter and I watch it together. I tape it while I work and we watch it together at night. Also, when my Aunt was in a coma, i would tell her every day what was going on with Reva, etc. She came out of the coma and first thing she wanted to know, what's happening with the guiding light. It was a guiding light for her and she watched it until she died. thanks for all the good years and great shows and the great messages.

I can't wait to get home everyday so I can watch the daily recording. I have watched this show since I was a little kid, my grandmother and mother watched it too. Sandy Orlando, FL

I am a fourth generation GL viewer. My daughter is a fifth generation viewer. We will both miss GL VERY much. I have memories back when Kelly Floyd, Nola and all where on. Buzz has to be one of my faves!! I am not sure where CBS has been thinking but they are taking good shows off the air. It is a bad call to take GL off the air.

I have been watching guiding light since I was in high school. Now my daughter who begins high school this year watches it with me. I am very sad that GL is going off the air. It is the only soap I watch (I record it every day as I work) and have never missed an episode in 32 years. I will, and I hope others will join me, in boycotting P&G products. I feel that P&G wanted to end this show for quite a while now and did everything they could to turn the audience against it. This decision affected a lot of people and I feel that P&G doesn't need my support, as I don't see them supporting us fans at all.
