Please Help Keep Guilding Light1566 Signatures
Intended Recipient:Executive Producer Ellen Wheeler. Description:I am writing to you all today to help save a wonderful show. I am going to be sad to see it go. I Don't want it to go please help us change there minds...
(April 1) -- This is not an April Fool's joke (so far, at least) -- 'Guiding Light' will be no more come September. The CBS soap opera that's been in existence for 72 years -- since 1937 on the radio and 1952 on the television -- will air its final episode post-Summer. The Associated Press cites declining daytime ratings and budget as the reason for the show's demise.
Soap Opera Digest, who was the first to report the cancellation, has a response from the show's executive producer, Ellen Wheeler. On the end of 'Guiding Light,' Wheeler said: "Being on the air for more than seven decades is truly remarkable, and it will be difficult for all of us at the show to say goodbye."

Please keep GL on. It's a slap in the face that CBS isn't trying to help keep it on! The other shows owe GL a debt of gratitude. If it wasn't for GL, these shows wouldn't be on today. It was one of the earliest soaps on TV. Do you think anything that replaces it could stay on 72 years? I don't think so! Joe

Please keep GL on. I think it's a major slap in the face that CBS isn't trying to keep it on! The other soaps owe it a debt of gratitude. If it wasn't for GL, maybe the other shows wouldn't be on. Do you think the show that replaces it could stay on 72 years? I don't think so! Joe

Please keep The Light going. My great grandmother and my grandmother both watched and even listened to it on the radio. My mother watched it say she can still remember when it was only a 1/2 hour show. There are days I wish it was longer then an hour!!!
Please don't take it off the air and put some stupid game show or even worse a talk show.

I am 50 years old and have watched GL since I was just a teen watching it with my Mother. If I can't watch live I watch on tape but hardly ever miss a show. I love the interesting story lines and think that the show has really improved since they shoot entirely in actual places and locations (not just a studio facade). This makes it seem real and easier to relate to the characters. How could they even dream of taking THE LONGEST RUNNING SOAP IN HISTORY AWAY FROM US, IT'S LOYAL FANS...ARE THEY CRAZY???
ps. THANK YOU FOR NOT KILLING OFF REVA (X2)...NOW, PLEASE SPARE PHILLIP. AFTER ALL, HE JUST CAME BACK INTO THE FAMILY (AFTER BEING AWAY FOR 5 YEARS)!!!!

I truly hope you do not take this show off the air. I have been watching this program since 1953 and really look forward to it starting my day. Please reconsider if at all possible. Thanks|

I listened to Guiding Light on radio, when it was called "THE GUIDING LIGHT". Over the years, you have changed the music, gotten rid of the actual Light House, and gone from the Bowers to the Spauldings/Lewis's. Yes, I remember Bert and Bill, and most noteable, Papa Bower.
This show will be missed. Is this because the show is now filming in NJ and not on the west coast?
This is the only show CBS has on that is worth a crap.
You are pigs if you take it off the air.
Thanks

My mother in law got me interested in soaps and this is one in particular I have been watching since 1958 and I am really going to miss not seeing it. I think the ratings went down because of the time slot. If it were on in the afternoon you would see a hugh difference in how many people watch it. It's really sad that a show is thrown off that has been an icon for so many years. Do something about it.

I can't remember a time when I haven't watched Guiding Light. My great aunt hooked me on it when I was young. She told me she had always listened to it on the radio before TV was thought of. I record it and watch it at night. It will be such a shame if its taken off the air.

I've been watching this show since I can remember. My Grandma gotme watching it. She started watching it when it was on the radio. Please don't take it off the air. The cast is kind of like my family. I can't wait to get home from a hard day at work just so I can watch Guiding Light, my favorite show on!!!

why would you take off one of the best soaps on the air just to put something stupid on in its place, whatever you replace it with i will NOT watch it, they have won award after award and your saying the ratings are bad i find that hard to believe, like alot of people i feel the characters are like family and NOTHING YOU PUT ON IN PLACE OF GUIDING LIGHT WILL NOT EVEN COME CLOSE TO REPLACING THE LIGHT. PLEASE PLEASE RECONCIDER.

I have been watching this show since i was in grade school. That was when it was only 30 minute show, but my sister and I would run home from school just to watch the last 20 minutes of it. I have always loved The Guilding Light. Please keep it on the air.

I WATCH CSI, CRIMINAL MINDS, NCIS, FLASHPOINT, AND NUMBERS. I MIGHT JUST GET RID OF MY TV WHEN I CAN NO LONGER GET MY DAILY DOSE OF GUIDING LIGHT. I HAVE A DVR AND TAPE THE SHOW EVERY DAY TO WATCH WHEN I GET HOME FROM WORK AND HAVE FOR YEARS. I WATCHED IT AS A GIRL AFTER COMING HOME FROM SCHOOL AND I AM 62. VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THE DECISION TO CANCEL. I HOPE WE CAN CHANGE THEIR MINDS.

One word, STABILITY. CBS has the rare opportunity to say it has the longest running soap. That should be an honor. We all and family before us have watched for years and these actors are "family". Loyalty and Stability; it started with the Guiding Light let it stay with the Guiding Light. Keep this show.

Please don't take my favorite show away!! I have watched this show with my grandmother and my mother, who are both passed away now. This show has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. You don't know how many of my friends feel the same way. There's got to be something that we can do to keep this show on the air. Mary S.

I am over 50 and have ritually enjoyed watching The Guiding Light since high school. The Guding Light actors are like family. This show is so much a part of many peoples lives. My new daughter-in-law's mother named her after Reva Shane. Her mother was homebound when she was pregnant and spent her afternoon watching the Guilding Light for months. So I just want you to know how much this show has been a part of so many lives. I will not watch any replacement show. How can you replace a lengend!
