Please Help Keep Guilding Light1566 Signatures
Intended Recipient:Executive Producer Ellen Wheeler. Description:I am writing to you all today to help save a wonderful show. I am going to be sad to see it go. I Don't want it to go please help us change there minds...
(April 1) -- This is not an April Fool's joke (so far, at least) -- 'Guiding Light' will be no more come September. The CBS soap opera that's been in existence for 72 years -- since 1937 on the radio and 1952 on the television -- will air its final episode post-Summer. The Associated Press cites declining daytime ratings and budget as the reason for the show's demise.
Soap Opera Digest, who was the first to report the cancellation, has a response from the show's executive producer, Ellen Wheeler. On the end of 'Guiding Light,' Wheeler said: "Being on the air for more than seven decades is truly remarkable, and it will be difficult for all of us at the show to say goodbye."

I have watched the guiding light since a child. We had the first TV (black & white) in our neighborhood or farm. I think it is a shame if you all take it off the air. I use Proctor & Gamble products every day, but if you take it off the air I will stop using them.

I start my day with guiding light. I can't imagine not doing so . I don't watch very much daytime TV but this show is the best. love the Bauers,Spauling and Coopers. We don't need any more game shows, talk shows or reality tv. Some of us would like a little bit of relaxation to start our day. please reconsider removing this great show. Linda Olson/Faithful viewer

I am 50 years old and the third of four generations of my family to be avid viewers of the Guiding Light. My Grandma, my mother, and my two daughters (23 and 18 years of age) all enjoy the show. I feel wounded in that my loyalty to CBS, by watching this program and patronizing it's sponsors, are being repayed by this action.

Come on CBS, don't be like NBC. They are down to 1 soap opera and where I live in Nashville, its nothing but The Today Show and local news crap all day. Why do you think we watch soap operas, to get away from the reality of everyday life. Get a clue, we all need to have our little escape, so don't put out the LIGHT!!!!

My grandmother got me started Guiding Light when I was a teenager 30+ years ago. Even though I work, I have my DVR set to record it every day and watch it every night when I get home. It is one of the things I look forward to doing, and can't even imagine not being able to watch ever again. Please don't take GL off the air..

I have been watching Guiding Light for thirty plus years. I love this show. I don't watch any other daytime shows. I look forward to watching Guiding Light every day. The other soaps and game shows and talk shows just don't got it. Please don't take this show off. Here is an idea put it in a night time slot. It's better than some of the shows they have on at night. This is my favorite show I hope they never take this show off.

I am 41 yrs old. I have been watching this show since I was very young. I would come home from school and watch the Guiding Light. As I got older and was involved with school activities I would tape it. When I worked I taped it. Now, that I am much older I still watch it but, on my pc after my nine yr old goes to bed. This show is great and now that Grant Alexander is back what a storyline him and Beth could have as well as Bill and Lizzie. Reva has always been great with Josh and who ever else she ends up with. I must say there are other shows with garbage story lines and they are still on.
Please rethink this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This Soap is the best! It takes me away from the real world for a while.
Please keep GL as there are more fans then you know.

I have watched you since I was 3: my mother and I and my grandmother. My favorite is still Riva. I would sleep with her, but I'm straight and female. I love every character. Especially Phillip, Riva, Josh, Billy Lewis the II and Beth. I wish I could donate or something to keep this show on air. You have a cast of characters that can't be beat and they can deal with nonsense, which is why soap operas are fun. I love you all. Smooches.

I watched the show with my grandma and great aunt since 1956 and am still at 64 watching it. I have always thought it was one of the better written and acted soaps and just can't understand why CBS would want to take a good thing off the air. Donna M.

Please do not cancel this show. I started watching The Guiding Light with my mother more than 50 years ago, then with my grandmother when I was "sitting" with her. It is really the only soap I "can't miss", and I would miss it terribly. It has been part of my life for a long, long time.

I started watching The Guiding Light with my grandmother back in 1960. When you have watched a tv show for that length of time. the characters become like family. PLEASE DO NOT CANCEL THIS SHOW. Any show that can be on radio and tv for 72 years should tell CBS that they have a good thing. Lets keep it going. Diane

I have watched Guiding Light since I was in Jr. High School (back in the early 80's) and have just had a baby girl. (Because of her I have not been able to watch as often as I would like to but I don't want it to disappear!!!) After I had her (and before the announcement) I was wondering/hoping if she and I would watch it together and discuss the characters. Over the years I have introduced my mother to the characters and even my husband, and we discuss the show. I can't stand the thought of not having Guiding Light. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T CANCEL GUIDING LIGHT, PLEASE!!!

Please don't let this show go. Get new writer's perhaps, but keep The Guiding Light. It's a part of soap opera history.

I think that its a shame before GOD that CBS and Proctor and Gamble will allow the best soap opera ever on TV thats why its been on 72 years. I think the actors could have took a pay cut until the economy change it want be the first recession that we have encountered.....

No! You can't be serious. I look forward to Gl and have all my life!!!! Bringing Ed Bauer back was a step in the right direction . Save GL please.

I would hate to see Guiding Light come to an end. I have it record everyday so I don't miss an episode. I hope that CBS comes up with something creative to keep this long standing soap alive. My mother will be crushed, her eye sight is failing her yet everyday she makes sure that she gets to see her Guiding Light (she also has it record so she don't miss an episode).

I have been watching this show since I was a child. This is the ONLY soap I have kept up with all my life. I do not watch any others. I make sure to tape it each day so as not to miss an episode. My favorite characters are Reva & Josh. These characters are like a part of my extended family. PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT NOT cancel the show. Debbie R.

I remember watching this show with my grandmother as a toddler and I am 40 now. It isn't just a TV show but a part of history. Please save Guiding Light, don't take it off the air.

Please do not cancel this show. I've been watching for since the early 1950's. It's part of TV history and should not be cancelled. It could use new writers. Shirley B.
