Pledge of AllegianceForum Discussion for Pledge of Allegiance Submitted by Jacquelyn s. on Sat, 08/09/2008 - 21:31
Joe Jonas Lover I DON'T REALLY BELIEVE IN THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE ANY MORE, IT SEEMS FALSE TO ME NOW And to those who say this country was founded on God, you obviously don't know your history. America was founded on religious freedom and tolerance in general. The vast majority of emigrants came to this country to escape persecution, religious persecution in particular for the earliest emigrants. The vast majority of the founding fathers had no faith and were deists at best. Some were flat-out opponents of Christianity and religion as a whole. "During almost fifteen centuries has the legal establishment of Christianity been on trial. What have been its fruits? More or less in all places, pride and indolence in the Clergy, ignorance and servility in the laity, in both, superstition, bigotry and persecution." -James Madison Todd- First of all, it is not a breach of separation of church and state. That was also created long after the country was founded. Try the 1960s. If you go to the Supreme Court what do you see on the wall? Moses holding the 10 comandments. If you go to the Senate, there are designs all over the inside and out of nearly all the buildings and they refer to God, moses, 10 commandments so it should stay. Just because were are in a new century...God never changes and is always the same. The one true God of the Bible. Submitted by Its Your Boy Co... at MySpace on Sat, 06/07/2008 - 23:32
you people that think under god should be taken out of the POA are worng. Have you all forgot what this country was built on, or did u forget that class. Submitted by romain r. on Fri, 05/09/2008 - 19:14
"under god " has no place in the POA.It should be over, we re in the 21th century !! If the POA said "and to the democracy for which it stands" instead of "and to the republic"...you'd see a shift in salivators. Submitted by Lori E. on Fri, 04/04/2008 - 19:23
Why are people so afraid of 2 words...I feel that having faith in God can truley help many people. Our nation was founded with those words and just because someone doesn't like it doesn't mean it should be removed. Taking it out may only cause alot of people to be upset. Freedom Of religion right? If you don't like then don't say the pledge!! Submitted by Carolyn D. on Fri, 03/14/2008 - 23:13
the Pledge of Allefiance stands as it is!!! Submitted by James M. on Mon, 11/05/2007 - 11:40
Look this country was founded in the belief of In God we trust, and you know what it works. Also, "under God" works for all religions and different cultures in this country. So to remove thosr two words in order to please the minority of godless liberals and wannabe socialists infesting would simply be unAmerican. Submitted by Aqua B. on Fri, 02/01/2008 - 19:44
Actually if you want to go there then not taking it out could be concidered unAmerican. note: Freedom of Religion, or speach or whatever someone wants to use. And the capital G in god is what people have a problem with. Mainly Christians use the capital g if I'm as knowledgeable about religions as I think I am, all other ones use actual names for their gods. Loading People... |
