Forum Discussion for Portland MAX in Vancouver

I think its a great idea your right it is tearing up and putting relocating business. it doesnt necessarly mean there going out of business just a relocation. the benefit of the max going further north is eliminating more traffic, economical way of traveling and its trying to meet the needs of the City that way it can grow. I think its great idea and a perfect time to do it, because the more they post pone it the worst it becomes for the people that live in vancover.

You've got to be kidding! Vancouver is the most beautiful city in Canada! The only reason we joke about is because were jealous.

I cannot tell if you are kidding about the Canada part or not... :-)

Not MAX in our beloved Vantucky! We the voters have told the powers that be a few times that we do not WANT MAX in our historic town. Just look at the Portland news and see how many MAXidents that there are. It seems like it eats at least one bicyclist/pedestrian/vehicle each month (of course if you are not smart enough to get the hell out of the way of a TRAIN...) I will be looking for more information about the proposed track pathing, but there is far too much in the way of historic buildings in that part of town. Is our land greedy mayor wanting MAX that badly, to demolish those buildings? perhaps he should try to annex Hayden Island and let the rails end there. Yes they are kinda comfortable and very quiet, but that will not help them get across the bridge. The I-5 bridge was not built with light rail in mind. The 205 bridge was... and it would make sense to cross the Columbia there. but THEY don;t want it there either! Some of us are native to Vantucky and appreciate the historic value to our town. God I sound like a fossil, but I like it without MAX. We only need to look at what has happened to Gresham to see that we don't want the light rail here.
