Description:

I know many people out there believe in God. I just want to see how many people truly believe. How many people can we get to sign this and get prayer back in school.

Children should be allowed to have the option to pray wherever they want. However, NO beliefs or prayer must be forced on anyone as that impedes basic rights to freedom of belief.
People can pray at home! Do they really NEED to pray at school?

Children should be able to pray in school. I know some schools have a moment of silence but children should be able to pray whenever they want during the day at school.

If we have just a moment od silence like where i work people of all different faiths can pray to themselves to there God.

Theres more than one religion in this world. U either have all or nothing.

i go to a catholic school and i am a firm believer in god. most of the other students in my school joke during prayer but they take it seriously in church.

We shouldn't impose our own beliefs on other people. We have Freedom here in America, don't you know?
What about not judging other people? Ever hear of that?

21 signatures in a 8 month period. That is sad. I am a firm believer. Jesus hung on the cross for 9 hours to save us all from sin. The Lord gave us all the breath of life. How can there be life without the Lord? All the unbelievers needs to snap out of there foolish thoughts. Your unbelieving thoughts are pathetic, your on the wrong path.

Education by the parents, school is for studying, not for praying (go to church for that) !

i mean DISrespecful to thier parents.....sorry...

Ever since they toke God out of schools, they have went to hell..
school shootings
teen pregnancies have skyocketed
abortions are HUGE in teen girls that can't kee their legs closed
& kids are more and more respectful to their parents
& kids are dropping out of schools like flies.
God bless you....

Who's to say that even if you kept prayer in schools that these things wouldn't happen? You can't. No one can. Statistics? HA! Over half of statistics in the world are in some way false. So don't try statistics on me. And besides, school is about learning things like Math, Science, World Geography, etc., etc. If you want prayer to be with your children(While they are in school.) then go to a Christian private school(Or a Catholic one. Take your pick.). If you can't afford it, then stop complaining to others. Not everyone is Christian. If you want to pray in school, then have your kids(Emphasis on the kids.) get together a small group and pray when it won't bother anyone else. That's how you put prayer in school. Not by the government's help.

I am with you!!

Oh, and about the whole "praying is good for the mind"..I completely disagree with that. I'm Wiccan and I only pray at night.

Trust me, in schools today, kids are a lot less concerned about God. If you want to start a petition about anything, how about you do it on something important...Like, teachers sleeping with their students or schools or don't pay attention to the gang violence and drugs..

If you want to pray, do it on your own time. No one cares if you do it durring school just don't be the kind of person who has to draw attention to yourself just because you're praying.

There aren't as many "believers" as you people might think.

Prayer is something for church..school is for your childs education..heather Fulton Mo

There is not a need for prayer in public schools! Our schools are secular and based upon the first ammendment, we all have a freedom of relgion without state sanctions. Government sponsered prayer or religon is never appropriate.

No ones stopping prayer in school guys. You can pray if you want and no one will suspend you. How many of you would even be affected if prayer was put into school? You cant please everyone but its not fair to just please on group.

Also, you cannot be so self centred to believe that Catholicism is the superior religion. Come on.

I'm not criticizing your faith here, but I don't think there is a need to put prayer back in schools.
Yes, many believe in God but also many don't. If people want prayer in schools, go to catholic school! But if you're aetheist or agnositic or another religion other than catholicism, then you should have to be FORCED into praying at an otherwise un religious affliated school.

I don't believe in God and I think that if I was forced to pray when I went to a school other than catholic, I'd be extremely angry.

Keep the prayers to the catholic school. Don't make people who don't believe in God. Is THAT catholic?

First and foremost; I am not Catholic, I am Christian! Second; prayer SHOULD be implemented in school, because it has been proven to better equipe minds (by means of awakining and disciplining) for understanding the tasks at hand. Those select students whom choose not to pray; can quitely turn-to study time, read a book, write a note, or simply sit in thier seat quitely! Not once did I state, prayer should be recited, no, this would demeane any persons whom don't believe in God. In accordance, "Prayer Time" should be implemented. Pray by yourself, at your desk, to whatever you God you choose to worhship!

But isnt there enough non-instructional time already set aside to allow those who choose to pray, to pray? Secondly, it is not the schools' responsibility to instill religion or faith in students - that kind of "teaching" belongs in the home, not a federally-funded public school. Your suggestion completely ostracizes students by forcing them to observe a required "prayer time". it only feeds into the ideology that non-christians are outcasts - "we will pray while you heathens go in a corner and read a book" this suggestion would never hold water if we were discussing any other type of demographic like race or gender because it would be identified as a form of discrimination. keep religion where it belongs, in the homes and at the pulpit - not in the classroom.

You make a very valid point. Many congrats. But Im sad you made a better one than me. WAHHHH. Im just kidding.

Nevin M.: You sadden me; not only because you do not believe in Christ Jesus as you saviour, but also because you feel the need to criticize and critique those who have a great way of life, not to say you don't or anything, but how could you? Your probably grew up in the suburbs and listen to goth rock! "Emo", is a good word for you! If you like living this way, though, I hope you have a great life. Jesus loves you and so do I. I hope one day you will see the benifits of being saved by Jesus Christ. Till then, God speed and God Bless!

The time is near....Jesus prophecised this type of thing would happen in the end times...Rapture ready!

No God.....huh.. thats your right to say that. But YOUR statment to me sounds as if you are a ATHIEST nut. but itsnt that what freedom of speech is all about. this petition is to put prayer back in school . in the schools here in the United States.. and it is not of any religion of the American poeple to call war , ie Jihad in the name of.............. no, not here in the US.
oh and Nevin M I signed the petition. =-)

I hope they remove YOUR imaginary "GOD" from everything. What right do you have to force your weirdo religion off on everyone else.I hate you religious nuts. You are the cause of most of the wars that are happening right now. I cant wait until the day when the rest of the world deals with you religious nuts once and for all.THERE IS NO "GOD".

I pity you. You have faith in nothing. How does it feel? I don't understand how you, and people like you think. There is so much evidence of our lord in every aspect of life. And the fact that you chastise people who DO have faith is sickening. If you don't want to believe in Christ, that's fine. But don't attack people who do.

prove your god exists. and im asking for unquestionable proof =P

When you have to face the final judgement, that will be your proof.
