Description:

We need prayer back in schools. We need God back in schools. Without it, school systems are crumbling and so are the students. Prayer centers your thoughts and makes you think more clearly. We need it!!!!

Really and truly Prayer should be back in schools! And If not so then leave a moment of silence for those who have their our religion to do what they would do. But we ,and i'm saying we because i'm a high school student, need to educate the youth of the up and coming future of our religious backgrounds. Regardless of the religion, if they are praying to The Almighty God, the one and only, then what difference does it make the different rituals that is being used to reach God? And Gosh Dammit ACUL Freakin get off of all the teachers butts who want to help kids with things that have to do with Prayer. Go find something else to do in stead of sitting around with your thumbs up yall's asses. Your not doing this country any good!
that would be unfair to the people with different religions. besides school is for education thats what private school is for. or just go to church after school
Prayer does have it's place. I believe that it should be instituted back into schools. People recognize all other religious beliefs, they would give them time off for this holiday or for their specific beliefs. The Christian belief is taking a hit from the Government. Anything that has to do with Christianity and Jesus Christ is not allowed anymore, why? Why is it okay to pray to an idol and not to or about Christ. Employers will give Muslims their time to pray or other religions as well but not Christians. I understand that there are many different denominations in Christianity but we are all suppose to belong to the same God and pray to the same God. Regardless of the religion, if they are praying to The Almighty God, the one and only, then what difference does it make the different rituals that is being used to reach God? I'm not saying that schools should set time aside for prayer, because that can get catastrophic, But a word of thanks or praise should be offered up. If we can take time to say the pledge of allegiance, who didn't do anything for us because the flag is just material, why can't we take time to say Thank You to God no matter what religion you may be!!
My Mother was a 4th grade teacher, and when a child asked her about God, she was not legally allowed to say God's name. That's not the America I love.
First off MANDATORY prayer was taken out of schools. A child can still pray in schools. Children can even lead prayer groups in school if they so choose. Why should we bring back mandatory prayer? Second. I am not a Christian, I am a Pagan why should I have to pray to your God? Not every one in this country is Christian. FREEDOM OF RELIGION MEANS ALL RELIGIONS.
thats where ur wrong when i went to middle school i was not allowed to bow my head and say a scilent prayer because it would be drawing atention to myself.
I agree with ~*Tashers*~~ as everyone has the right to freedom of religion. Mandatory prayer prohibits the basic rights of free belief. However, I also feel that the middle school you went to also had no right to tell you that you couldn't pray. People should be allowed to freely believe and practice those beliefs so long as they don't force their beliefs upon others (such as this petition does) and attempt to use their beliefs to get in the way of rights of others.
What prayer do you wish to re-instate, Catholic, Mormon, other Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist or Hindu?
Prayer has NOT been taken out of schools. MANDATORY PRAYER was. Pray on your own time.
Kids can watch Obama become president at school and not everyone believes that is the right thing, but yet they can't pray in school. If kids were allowed to pray in school then maybe there wouldn't be so much violence, gun acts, drugs and so on. If anything needs to be in school it's prayer and God. Without God nothing is possible! It's time for Christians to start standing up for Jesus and what we believe. We have been pushed and run over and it's time for it to stop. Kids shouldn't have a choice, they are kids and they should be taught what is right. That is why there are so many bad kids because they are not being taught morals and God's love. Some of the responses here are ridiculous, you people better wake up before your time is too late.
Not everyone agrees with what you think is right. Shouldn't parents of a choice in the matter. Also, kids can still pray in school, it just can't be led by a teacher. Schools need to be teaching things that are factual. Keep Jesus in the church for those who want to believe in that.
NEVER. NEVER. NEVER. Prayer in schools represents a complete defeat of the democracy that was built here to protect us from zealots like you. My children can pray at home, thank you.
God needs to be everywhere in our schools. Maybe then we wouldn't have the violence we do.
Without prayer, the future is bleak.
Rusty, You don't really believe that, do you? Is your spiritual community helping you at this time?
A survey of high school teachers was taken in the 50's where they were asked what their biggest concern was in their classes. Their overwelming response was chewing gum stuck under the students desks. The same survey was taken in the late 80's. Their overwelming response was fear of rape and murder. That should pretty much sum it up.
Sum up what? That the world has changed and the religious right refuses to acknowledge that our problems are different than they were 60 years ago? The problems come from many changes, not because there's no prayer in schools. Jeez.
Thats the funniest thing ive heard. I will support it as long as the Jewish kid gets to say his prayer and the Muslim kid gets to lay out his mat and pray to Allah. The buddist kid gets to pray to Buddah. If we have prayer for one, we need to have prayer for all or dont have prayer at all. Cannot discriminate. sorry dude

There already is prayer in schools. It's that "moment of silence" that was instituted in the educational system since 9/11. God doesn't belong in the schools, or the government, or this country. Read the Treaty of Tripoli, and you will know that we are not a Christian nation as you seem to believe. We are not a theocracy, we are a democracy.

no no no no no no no no no no no no rather not thank you kids like me should choose what we want and dont want to do and i would rather not....

kids shoukld choose what they want and they want prayer

how do you know what the kids really want? youve scared the kids in beleiving something that is not true. and your scared too. you are too scared to beleive in something for your self

As I have said before; If you make time for prayer for one specific group, you would have to make time for other groups to be fair. Though yes, many of you feel like your religion is the right one and should be the only one, other religions feel the same way about their own beliefs. Don’t tell me you plan to honor only one belief system and ignore anyone without those beliefs. If prayer was put back into the schools as an announcement over the PA system, it would take approximately 1hr +, to cover everyone fairly. This would take away from your children actually learning or their already too short lunches. Try starting a club or something so your children can be with likeminded people, make new friends and they can fellowship together and help each other through hardships. There is a moment of silence for those who want to say a prayer, meditate, or just think about the coming day. It may not be as much as you like, but its something.
Also do your kids actually express a problem with the lack of prayer in schools? Or is it that the parents seeing from the outside and think it would make things all better?
konton=fun

We definitely need to put prayer back in school. The reason we are in the mess that we are in as a nation is because of the "Nations' Decision" to be a more liberal country and take prayer out of school. I will say just one thing. Whether we as a nation continue to ask God to leave our schools and ask him to let us do it on our own will only make things worse, but me and my household will always need Him and prayer wherever we go. If the homosexual society can complain anytime something doesn't go their way and we just say "let them have equal rights", then I think the same should apply to believers; We should also have our rights. If prayer is allowed in schools, let me just tell you; actually let me guarantee you that this nation would be healed. God Bless.

Matthew, How old are you? You sound like you're 10. Do you live under a rock? Read a little bit and expand your horizons. Is that too liberal for you?

You can make prayers everyday, if you like. It does not mean hell will not reach you, when the time comes. Who knows? Only He knows.

In most of the comments below people are complaining saying that prayer should not be allowed back in the school system because it imposes on the rights of the child. Okay that may be so but look at it this way... WE are accountable for our children until they reach a certain age (Age of Accountability). It IS OUR responsibility to make sure that we as parents equip our children with the proper tools to succeed in life this one and the next as well (Afterlife). I am not saying that children should be forced to pray or even to participate....however the option should be there. Many of today's children have no clue about who God is as MANY of today's parents find it unimportant to teach them because they may impose on the child's rights...how uninformed they are. IT IS OUR JOB! The reason prayer SHOULD be put BACK into school is for the children who are never given the choice...otherwise we are damning them...as well as ourselves. I personally don't want to answer for that on Judgement Day... Do you?

My parenting doesn't include teaching prayer but I do agree about being accountable and responsible for our children. That is why it should not be in schools but left up to parents.

I agree with you. I am amazed at parents who do not accept the respomsibility of guiding their children. WHile a school might not have prayer , there can be a moment of silence. I was a teacher for 28 years and it got to where people thought the school should buy their kids pencils and other supplies. They wanted no responsibility at all.

no way should we pray and bring prayer back. religon should not be forced on kids . ( regardless of believes) keep school school and were kepp church church.
