Ready for Stargate Universe?Forum Discussion for Ready for Stargate Universe? Submitted by C H. on Thu, 11/13/2008 - 09:30
I am willing to try to fight to save SGA. How about everyone else? I just learned yesterday of Atlantis being canceled. I am still shocked! I'm guess a lot of people still don;t know about it's cancellation. I will not be watching the new Stargate, Address 90210. SGA has broad appeal -- my friends in their 20's to 40's up to my parents - both 68 -- watch the show loyally! It is one of my dad's favorites, along with so many of my friends. In fact, many people liked SGA better than SG1. And we all know how wonderful SG1 is! :) This one movie on DVD to wrap things up is so disrespectful to everyone from the average viewers to the devoted fans. We deserve better and so does SGA. I just don't get wanting the under 20 audience over devoted and loyal fans. If they don't bring SGA back, lots of fans will feel betrayed, and the SG franchise's future will be threatened. That would be a shame, but fans tend to run hot and cold. Dont' listen to us, and we won't likely forget or forgive. They are willing to alienate loyal fans for short term monetary gain. And it will be short term, because once SGU is canceled after maybe 2 years, where will the franchise be then? Submitted by angelika s. on Tue, 11/11/2008 - 15:53
I won't be watching SGU. I don't think that they thought it out what they are doing, they have a new Toy and that is allthey think about. They don't care about the Fans, they think we just watch whatever they want us to watch, but we are not that Brainless. I did not care much for SG1, but I love SGA because of the Actors and the characters they play. I know I won't like SGU, and like they say I'm to old to watch their new show anyways, Im a few years over 20. They want 20 and below. I'll watch SGA reruns and get the DVD's. With SGU starting in the summer I will be able to get a lot of books read. I have no desire to watch a show that was created by slapping the face of SGA fans. Brad Wright and Robert Cooper are in a dream world if they think the fans of SGA will just "get over it" SGA was the only reason for watching SciFi, so I guess I won't be doing that either. I'm very annoyed that Stargate Atlantis is being cancelled in favour of a new (unwanted) show. Atlantis, it was recently announced, is the number one show on Sky One, the UK's premier satellite channel. Will I be watching SGU? No, actually I won't - TPTB have already told me they don't need my support; I'm too old! If TPTB had any sense at all they would be producing both shows side by side, then they might actually get people to watch the [sarcasm]bright shiny new toy[/sarcasm]. My personal preference would be for both shows to run simultaneously. It worked well for SG1 and Atlantis, each show bringing the other new viewers. For example, I'm 39 years old, I really have no desire to watch the adventures of kids under 25, and I'll make no effort to seek out the show. However if I was already tuning in to see Atlantis, I'd be more likely to watch SGU b/c of convenience and the cross over possibilities. The same would be true in reverse, where the younger audience might be introduced to Atlantis. You can't abandon the older, more financially secure generation in favor of new blood. I want Atlantis, not some teen soap in space with Captain Grandpa babysitting! Save Atlantis! Submitted by merii g. on Thu, 10/30/2008 - 23:07
I heard that they want to concentrate on one series, they don't want the expense of running two shows at once, but SGA started around the time of series 8 of SG1, so two series were running at the same time, for 2 seasons.. So why can't they do that with this series...? Submitted by Elisa D. on Thu, 10/30/2008 - 22:22
I will not watch SGU or anything else on SciFi once SGA goes off the air. TPTB disrespected the fans and a show that has performed for them through the years. They should have the right thing and introduced SGU in SGA and then give it it's own show. Given the writers a chance to wrap up SGA enough to move it to movie format. No, TPTB feel they can ignore the fans, then this fan can ignore MGM/SciFi. I will be boycotting them unless they renew SGA. Submitted by Alissa H. on Thu, 10/23/2008 - 15:49
Sure it might be interesting to get to know these new characters and plots and everything, but why mess with a good thing? I want to keep Atlantis!! Submitted by marie j. on Sun, 10/19/2008 - 18:25
Somehow stargate universe reminds me of the tv show "lost in space" I just hope they include a robot that runs around yelling "danger, danger" too bad there isn't a Will Robinson in the show. Submitted by Kasey G. on Sun, 10/12/2008 - 03:24
RENEW & CARRY ON - SGA!! Atlantis has so much going for it starting with the imagination; and its magnificiant cast of actors all the way down to its perfect timeline. It is what (IMO = everyone's) I look forward to doing at the end of a long STRESSFULL work week. On Monday I can hardly wait until Friday so that I can kick up my feet and relax and get away for just an hour of fun, humor, excitement, into a world of imagination and creativity with some of the greatest actors, the cutest hunks and the fabulous women of another world. I can enjoy the adventure and know that there won't be filth and nasty crap going across my TV like all the rest of the s--t that IS aired these days!!! KEEP ATLANTIS GOING STRONG! Why do the brains of the execs always seem to fall out of their ears right when something is going so good and prospering too? They must have been brainwashed by watching the other crap and so they feel the need to follow all the rest of the broadcasts and jump off the Statue of Liberty right into the hell fire of destruction!! Because one network wants to cut their own throat this network thinks it should too. STUPID IS (EXECS) AS STUPID DOES. STUPID MOVE. You can get movies on DVD and watch it, but you watch a GREAT SERIES OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND NEVER GET TIRED OF IT. STUPID PEOPLE (EXECS) Submitted by Daniel R. on Sat, 10/11/2008 - 05:11
does anyone remember Voyager... is the same thing, sorta... definitly they should go with Atlantis. Submitted by Timothy D. on Mon, 09/15/2008 - 00:39
I prefer to watch both Stargate SG-1 & Stargate Alliance. Both are good series and both should be continued. Submitted by merii g. on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 21:20
I love Stargate SG-1, Jack O'Neill, and Daniel Jackson being my favourite.. Submitted by Tony H. on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 15:17
They dont want to have both atlantis and the new show running at the same time as they think we will get confused. Yet however they play all the sg1 and atlantis and atlantis season 5 all week. I am not confused it just means to me that I get to see the shows that I love. Like all the other fans I would say to sci-fi and mgm leave the show alone if you want to run universe run it nobody will get confused unlike the big boys at sci-fi and mgm Submitted by Tony H. on Fri, 09/12/2008 - 15:03
I love stargate atlantis it has everything I like the action the story the comedy the lot ! However I am also a big fan of sg1 I was sad to see it end but it was ending on two good things it went out in style following two movies and also with the start of atlantis. The new show however is not starting with the end of atlantis (not sure really) but on its own new cast and so far all that I have read about it is more and more like star trek voyager which I hope it is not like dont get me wrong I am a trekkie and all. But atlantis is shown around the world along with sg1 so how come they are kicking off the tv ? oh sure they say they will be making movies but sg1 got two movies with no sign of any more. In short they have made a BIG MISTAKE here sci-fi has nothing now and mgm who ever came up with the idea of getting rid of atalntis should be gone as well. I saw the storyline for Universe. Well, here is the"shark jump" for the Stargate series. Great job guys destroying a great thing. This twist is NOT a good thing. Stay with Atlantis. It still has loose ends that definately need to be tied up. Start tying I hope the executive producers are reading this. Submitted by Jo t. on Thu, 09/11/2008 - 08:27
I love Sg-1 its my fave but i also love SGA-i would love it if it was kept for at least 2 more seasons.
