Issue:
Unwanted pregnancy can cause intense stress and hardship in a variety of ways, especially to teen mothers and first time mothers. This leads to an unhuman decision of abortion.
Belief:
As American citizens, we have a right to be informed about things that might affect our health...both mental and physical.
even in rape i dont relly think it should be allowed. the child could be put up for adoption. you dont kill life.
Pro life is anti woman, you should be thinking bout the humam, not a couple of cells with the potential of becoming a human being.
Respect women!
Let the person involved make the decision that`s rights for that person.
It shouldnt be anyone elses decision.

I would have to respectfully disagree with you. I don't want to get into a emotional argument with you, just a discussion. These issues can be very emotional. My view point on it is that most women that go into a clinic don't know the whole story. As far as I know, they are told as little as possible about what is going to happen to their bodies. Something that is sort of related to this topic is the fact that some people that hold to the pro-choice belief have been trying to pass laws that allow minor girls to get an abortion without their parent's permission. Technically, an abortion is a medical procedure. With all other medical procedures, a minor has to have their parent's permission.
I have to disagree with the first point that you made. The whole basis for my belief is that life begins at conception. So, in fact, I am thinking about both humans. Abortion kills one life while harming the other life. Potentially physically and definitely emotionally.
I disagree with one other thing that you mentioned. Yes, we should have freedom. But there has to be a line drawn somewhere. With freedom comes responsibility and privileges. I believe that abortion, while giving freedom to the mother or potential mother (depending on your view), it takes away the freedom of another.
So, in conclusion, I do have the best interest of women in mind. And I would be willing to help women out if they decided to not have an abortion.
Freedom for whom? Certainly not the child who is killed.Abortion may not take its toll on a woman immediately but as she gets more mature she will wonder what happened to her child and will eventually regret her selfish decision. Hopefully she will repent of this murderous action.

I think that, even though it is not the child's fault, mothers who have been involved in horrific incidents such as rape or incest,etc should be allowed abortion. In saying this, I think abortion should be done as soon as possible because at the current allowance for abortion-24weeks-some babies who have been born prematurely have survived from this age.
Abortion is a horrific act against a vulnerable human, based off of self-absorbed thoughts and wants, in which a mother gives permission to another to rid her child of his/her life, because it is an inconvenience and/or shame to her. Abortion steals the one unalienable right that is needed to possess the others. How is one expected to enjoy the right of liberty and to pursue happiness (and other unnamed rights), when he is lacking life?

From the aforesaid one can conclude that every human possesses these rights. Now comes forth the question: who has the right to deprive another of these privileges? Since every human has these rights, they share equality; no human possesses more rights than the others. If one holds the right to deprive others of their privileges, the equality , that is supposedly shared throughout the human race, does not exist Equality cannot exist when one human has more, or less, rights than another, and when one is above the others with the power to deprive them of their rights.
"A state also of equality wherein all the power and jurisdiction is reciprocal, no one being more than another, there being nothing more evident than that creatures of the same species and rank, promiscuously born to all the same advantages of Nature, and the use of the same faculties, should be equal amongst another, without the subordination or subjection...." ^2
Whether a human has sovereignty or not, he is still equal to others. It is a matter of whether he has the power to deprive others of their unalienable rights. When a mother decides to have an abortion, she is making the decision to take the most crucial, unalienable right from her own child. She is also deciding that the child is on a level of inferiority, that the child's life holds a value less than equal to her own. Equality is abused time and again when a mother makes the decision to abort her child. Are humans truly equal to one another? Why are they allowed to devalue each other in such a horrendous way?
"Though this be a state of Liberty, yet it is not a state of license; though man in that state have an uncontrollable liberty to dispose or his person or possessions, yet he has not the liberty to destroy himself, or so much as any creature in his possession..... There cannot be supposed any such subordination among us that may authorize us to destroy one another, as if we were made for one another's uses, as inferior ranks of creations are for ours." ^3
No human should have the right to take the property of another. Life, Liberty, the Pursuit of Happiness, and other unnamed rights cannot be taken away from another without one committing a serious offense.
Equality should be shared throughout the human race, for every man should possess the same unalienable rights. No human should hold the right to deprive others of their aforesaid privileges. Any human that decides when another should die is abusing equality and another's right to life.
"The State of Nature has a Law of Nature to govern it, which obliges every one, and reason, which is that law, teaches all mankind who will but consult it, that being all equal..., no one ought to harm another of his life, health, liberty, or possessions..." ^4
Every human should have the unalienable rights whether he is independent or dependent. Is the state of Life ruled by survival of the fittest? If so, no child would ever live to see a day.
Does it not state in the United States of America's Declaration of Independence that every human is equal and has the unalienable rights? How is it that the human race has come to the decision that every mother has the right to choose when her own child dies? Why is it that a human, equal to all other humans, has the right to deprive another, he/she is equal to, of his/ her unalienable rights? Is the child not human? Is the child's life so insignificant that the child does not deserve to possess the unalienable rights that should not be denied of any human? Is the child so inferior that his/her life does not have value? Why is a vulnerable human, a defenseless child, not equal to other humans? Why do so many humans disrespect the lives of the unborn? How can any human demand respect when he/she is unwilling to give some to another? Where is Human Dignity? Where is Equality? Why does there exist a law against the destruction of an eagle's egg but no law against the destruction of an unborn child? WHY IS ABORTION LEGAL?

At 15, I was brutially raped and got pregnant... I got an abortion and I DON'T regret it at all... I was going to kill myself rather than bring that THING into the world... Yes I said THING! I had no choice in the matter sex... I was a baby myself. I was going insane because of the rape and baring his child was too much for me to take.
Several years ago, I was married and became pregnant but unfortunatly, my husband ran off with another woman and left me with no money or home, just the clothes on my back and what was in 2 suit cases... I was only making enough money for myself let alone a child too... so I decided to place the child in adoption... here's the Kicker... I was actually reviled for doing so. I got comments like.."Why are you throwing your child away?" "It would be better if you just abort it if you don't love it." that one come from a Pro-lifer and Yes I do love her.
She is with a great family who loves her and cares for her... I get photos and letter about her. I still love her even though I couldn't be her mother. I don't regret giving her up because she has what I couldn't give her at the time.
This year at the age 36, I gave birth to a baby boy who I deeply love and I am in a loving and stable relationship. The happiest I have every been!
Why I say all this is... DON'T judge others unless you see things from where they stand... not from where you do. You may be surprised!
I am so sorry Nicolle for the horror you suffered being violated like you were. I can't imagine living through that. I do need to say though, how great it would of been if you would of had someone to walk with you through that trauma. You could of healed from that horrible act and gave life to your child. I have to speak for your unborn child. It was not your child's fault that you were raped but your baby paid the price with it's life for what that man did to you. I believe you love your other children but, being raped does not make your firstborn a "thing". Being wanted or not wanted does not make us invisible or "things". My mother got mad at me and said "you don't have a mother anymore." Does her saying that make her "not" my mother? No, t doesn't. However painful your experience I believe your child is worth being recognized as a child not a thing. Your anger is being taken out on an innocent human being. YOu didn't ask to be raped Nicolle, well your baby didn't ask to be conceived or aborted. You were terribly violated and it was wrong, but, what you did did not make the rape go away did it? You were very brave to give your child up for adoption and you will always be her biological mother. YOur children have a sibling that is not alive and I hope you can walk through the process of acknowledging your firstborn, grieving the loss and not make your baby pay for what was done to you with being angry . Your baby is not the one who you should be angry at. It wasn't your babies fault. Please take these words to heart and just ponder what I have said, even if it is for a moment. It still hurts the baby, AND the woman, just as it did years ago when it was legal. Despite it being legal, there are still unprofessional practices that provide abortions. People today still experience the same ill effects through a legal clinic, that they did with the illegal clinics. I know a few pple who have had abortions, and they went nuts in the head. I know of a person who was raped and had an abortion, yet she suffers from that. I know of a person who was raped at 14, and kept the child against her mothers wishes. She never regretted not having an abortion. ALL of the women who have had abortions were hurt, and their lives have been plagued by the fact they went to "solve" their "problem", only to realize it wasn't the child who was the "problem." The abortion made a problem for them. The last time I checked, running from problems didn't solve anything, it only makes things worse. Only by facing hardships can we overcome them. Why have a baby killed for our actions, or an action of the person who violated us? There is just no excuse for it.
im onley a teenager and i have heard many stories online and on tv about women regreting they had an abortion its might be hard 2 keep the baby if you were rapped but think about the baby and who your taking away the chance for that baby to have life i belive that babys that are that still in the tummy are still babys not just a cell. god created that baby pls dont take that chance for that life 2 live.
My thoughts on this matter are hard to put into words, but I am going to try. Disclaimer: My opinion is not religiosly based in any way shape form or fashion.
First, I do NOT believe in abortion for me. The first time I got pregnant I was 16 years old, my daughter is now 17 getting ready to graduate from High School and go to college, I made the choice to have my baby and raise her. And have never regretted it. I had a miscarriage in 1998, I greived for my baby, and I was only 6 weeks pregnant. Then about a month later I recieved the bill from my physician for the DNC (I think that is the correct abbreviation) On that bill the word's "partial abortion" were typed and I greived again. Just from reading that word it broke my heart.
My daughter, my husband and I had this very conversation the other day. I guess I would be considered a believer in "Pro-Choice" just because of the fact that I have heard and read about the abortions done in back alleys before abortion was made legal. Women died of infections, babies were aborted at all terms of pregnancy and suffered because they were cut up. At least with the legalization of abortion the suffering of unborn babies was stopped, because there were rules made to go along with it's legalization.
To me a baby is a baby (life) at conception, but the majority of the medical society see's a baby as cells until the about 6 weeks old. These cells are known as a zygote and basically it is just a clump, which has no form or heartbeat. That is why girls and women are told it is tissue.
I do believe that females should be "informed" correctly, not just told "It is just tissue." I also think they should talk with others who have gone through with an abortion to hear the affects it has on their bodies and minds before they are allowed to go through with the procedure. I also feel like they should know the other options, because just like someone below says, there are so many women out there that want babies and can't have them for so many reason's. Abortion is one of those reason's. I don't believe abortion should be the fix all for an unplanned pregnancy. And I do believe that parental consent for teenagers should be required. I guess, I believe there should be a screening of sorts that has to be done before an abortion can be performed. That wouldn't be taking the right or freedom of that choice away but it would allow the mother time to really think about it before she done this.
On another note as far as the father's go, I feel that the father should be informed and help make the decision and if the parent's are not in agreement then there should be further steps taken.
I am so sorry for your loss Michelle and you made alot of great points. I have to disagree about the suffering of unborn babies stopping at the legalization of abortion. The babies feel pain. Especially when they are being dismembered. If they didn't a bill wouldnt be trying to be passed to administer the baby anestisia before dismemberment. Also, not as many "back alley" abortions happened as were reported. The numbers were drastically exxagerated. Abortion is the most selfish act a mother can commit, not that many of us are going to risk our own lives in the taking of our childs life. Abortion has and is destroying us as a nation and so many people are so deceived, they can't even see. Abortion stops a beating heart and is breaking the rest of our hearts. How can we live freely while the unborn are dying in vain? Please people wake up, speak up and get informed. Life is a gift, who are we to rob anyone of that gift?

Abortion is just wrong there is many women out there dying to have children. Then theres women out there that have a few abortions under their belt because it was a little inconvenient for "life". Well that sickens me I dont feel that abortion should be a choice its not right if you didnt want a child then you should have kept your legs close because you knew it could happen. Abortion only seems right in two cases that are proven: rape and incest those people should have the choice because they didnt concent.
I believe if a woman has an abortion,she took a life. If abortion is outlawed, and the woman kills her unborn baby on purpose, she should suffer the consequences of her actions such as any other person who kills another would.
If it's a "womans choice" to abort, where is the childs or fathers choice? I see no "choice" in the matter. All I see is terrorism in it. Terrorists mutilate their own, abortion is a done in the same type of manner of dismembering human tissue, but is supported by clinics and people here in America. Abortion has many ill-effects, and a very small percentage of people who have abortions, have them because of life threatening issues, or rape.

Having an abortion doesn't make you 'un-pregnant' it makes you the mother of a dead baby. The slaughter of innocent babies needs to be made illegal. Permanently.
I do not want to see unwanted babies die. But I do believe that EVERYONE should have a choice. You give people choice, they will almost always choose the right way...no choice and they look for the wrong way.
If we could get children not to have sex of any kind thier lives would be so much better. something to look forward after marriage. In this day in age we do not make our children wait nor want for much..so if they want to drink/have sex/it is hard them to understand NO No No you must wait for those things...
we as parents have to learn to wait and teach our children you can't have everything you want....
I agree< I do not want to see babies die either. EVERYONE already has the choice to kill their children or not, the power to choose is the only power any of us have. We do not almost always choose the right choice when we take children's lives. Who are we to decide who gets to live and who gets to die?
I think that if women don't want to have a child they shouldn't have sex in the first place. That's the choice right there! I don't think anyone has the right to decide when a life ends!
I understand that in some circumstances some things go wrong and then it's either the mother lives or the baby. In that situation there is a choice. It's one life or another.

Obviously, sometimes a woman is raped and then becomes pregnant. Being raped is a horrible crime and the woman goes through much trauma. However, that doesn't give her a right to hurt another human being because of what has happened to her. Also,there have been women who have been raped,get an abortion, and then end up in counseling not because of the rape, but because of the abortion.
Personally, I'm against abortion. I think that teens should just be more responsible and not have sex unless they're willing to accept the consequences.

I'm all for comprehensive sex education (though I'm not sure if that's what's meant by "right sex education" here), but I'm also pro-choice. I do have moral issues with abortion, I believe the fetus is a life and should be given a chance to live, and I would never get an abortion myself. But at the same time, making abortion illegal harms far more people than it saves. Abortion will not go away if made illegal, it will simply be pushed back a few decades to coat hangers in back alleys, and women will die along with their unborn babies. Legal abortion means safe abortion, which seems much better than the alternative.
Hi Miya, you are right about abortion not going away. Abortion needs to become "unthinkable". What are you pro-choice for? Back alley coathanger methods are made out to be bigger than it really was. Alot of women die from "so-called" safe abortions and the baby is never "safe". If I was okay with abortion for others but against it for myself then I could say "physical abuse" is okay for you but, not for me. Every abortion performed takes a life and injures so many others.
