Dear Friends, A few months ago I was asked for my perspective on Obama, I sent out an email with a few points. With the election just around the corner I decided to complete my perspective. Those of you on my e-list have seen some of this before but it's worth repeating...
First I must say whoever wins the election will have my prayer support. Obama needs to be commended for his accomplishments but I need to explain why I will not be voting for him.
Many of my friends process their identity through their blackness. I process my identity through Chr ist. Being a Christian (a Christ follower) means He leads I follow. I can't dictate the terms He does because He is the leader.
I can't vote black because I am black; I have to vote Christian because that's who I am. Christian first, black second. Neither should anyone from the other ethnic groups vote because of ethnicity. 200 years from now I won't be asked if I was black or white. I will be asked if I knew Jesus and accepted Him as Lord and Savior.
In an election there are many issues to consider but when a society gets abortion, same-sex marriage, embryonic stem-cell research, human cloning to name a few, wrong economic concerns will soon not matter.
We need to follow Martin Luther King's words, don't judge someone by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. I don't know Obama so all I can go off is his voting record. His voting record earned him the title of the most liberal senator in the US Senate in 2007.

To beat Ted Kennedy and Hillary Clinton as the most liberal senator, takes some doing. Obama accomplished this feat in 2 short years. I wonder what would happen to America if he had four years to work with.

There is a reason he voted No on confirming Justices Roberts and Alito. These two judges are conservatives and they have since overturned partial birth abortion. The same practice Obama wanted to continue.
Let's take a look at the practice he wanted to continue
The 5 Step Partial Birth Abortion procedures:
A. Guided by ultrasound, the abortionist g rabs the baby's leg with forceps. (Remember this is a live baby)
B. The baby's leg is pulled out into the birth canal.
C. The abortionist delivers the baby's entire body, except for the head.

There is a reason he went to Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years.
Obama tells us he has good judgment but he sat under Jeremiah Wright teaching for 20 years. Now he i s condemning Wright's sermons. I wonder why now?
Obama said Jeremiah Wright led him to the Lord and discipled him. A disciple is one in training. Jesus told us in Matthew 28:19 - 20 'Go and make disciples of all nations.' This means reproduce yourself. Teach people to think like you, walk like you; talk like you believe what you believe etc. The question I have is what did Jeremiah Wright teach him?
Would you support a White President who went to a church which has tenets that said they have a ...
1. Commitment to the White Community
2. Commitment to the White Family
3. Adherence to the White Work Ethic
4. Pledge to make the fruits of all developing and acquired skills available to the White Community.
5. Pledge to Allocate Regularly, a Portion of Personal Resources for Strengthening and Supporting White Institutions
6. Pledge allegiance to all White leadership who espouse and embrace the White Value Syst em
7. Personal commitment to embracement of the White Value System.
Would you support a President who went to a church like that?
Just change the word from white to black and you have the tenets of Obama's former church. If President Bush was a member of a church like this, he would be called a racist. Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton would have been marching outside.
This kind of church is a racist church. Obama did not wake up after 20 years and just discove red he went to a racist church. The church can't be about race. Jesus did not come for any particular race. He came for the whole world.
A church can't have a value system based on race. The churches value system has to be based on biblical mandate. It does not matter if it?s a white church or a black church it's still wrong. Anyone from either race that attends a church like this would never get my vote.
Obama's former Pastor Jeremiah Wright is a disciple of liberal theologian James Cone, author of the 1970 book A Black Theology of Liberation. Cone once wrote: 'Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him.
Cone is the man Obama's mentor looks up to. Does Obama believe this?
So what does all this mean for the nation?
In the past when the Lord brought someone with the beliefs of Obama to lead a nation it meant one thing - judgment.
Read 1 Samuel 8 when Israel asked for a king. First God says in 1 Samuel 1:9 'Now listen to them; but warn them solemnly and let them know what the king who will reign over them will do.'
Then God says
1 Samuel 1:18 ' When that day comes, you will cry out for relief from the king you have chosen, and the LORD will not answer you in that day.' 19 But the people ref used to listen to Samuel. 'No!' they said. 'We want a king over us. 20 Then we will be like all the other nations, with a king to lead us and to go out before us and fight our battles.' 21 When Samuel heard all that the people said, he repeated it before the LORD. 22 The LORD answered, 'Listen to them and give them a king.'
Here is what we know for sure.
God is not schizophrenic
He would not tell one person to vote for Obama and one to vote for McCain. As the scripture says, a city divided against itself cannot stand, so obviously many people are not hearing from God.
Maybe I am the one not hearing but I know God does not change and Obama contradicts many things I read in scripture so I doubt it.
For all my friends who are voting for Obama can you really look God in the face and say; Father based on your word, I am voting for Obama even though I know he will continue the genocidal practice of partial birth abort ion. He might have to nominate three or four Supreme Court justices, and I am sure he will be nominating liberal judges who will be making laws that are against you. I also know he will continue to push for homosexual rights, even though you destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah for this. I know I can look the other way because of the economy.
I could not see Jesus agreeing with many of Obama's positions. Finally I have two questions for all my liberal friends.
Since we know someone's value system has to be placed on the nation,
1. Whose value system should be placed on the nation.
2. Who should determine that this is the right value system for the nation?

I don't care what church people go to, as long as their religious beliefs do not influence their decision making process, and they are not trying to impose their religion onto others. I seriously question the sanity behind Sarah Palin's religion, but that has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion of her. I may be leery of her religion, but she doesn't seem to be someone who is using it throughout her decision making process. She is not bringing it into every one of her arguments, so I can rule out her religious beliefs as a reason not to vote for her.
Gov. Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama! Sarah Palin years in a public office versus Sen. Obama is substantial! Remember Obama just was elected Senator in the year 2005! So Gov. Palin is a solid person! Values in the quality of life and her zeal to pursue freedom not only here, but abroad! Gov. Palin didn't have a family member take her at the age of 8 to hear a person who spoke out against America! Wm. Ayers is an unrepentent terrorist! Obama wants the American people to believe that Ayers was something of the past at the age of 8! While others question Obama's patriotism one has to ask oneself, then HOW DID OBAMA PICK THE SAME WHITE NEIGHBORHOOD AS AYERS to live? Thus allowing his children to go to the same school together. At the beginning of Obama campaign, Obama said they were friends! Also at the beginning of Obama's campaign, Obama makes it known--he will not wear the flag pin on his lapel! One has to ask--didn't Wm. Ayers proudly stomps on the American Flag--and Obama made his decision early on not to represent the American Flag on his lapel! And Obama thinks his smooth talking can ease the disease of his past! Not so fast--Americans are challenged in 2008--do we want a Socialistic govenment or do we want to be free to ask any politician a question without fear of mass media exposing your credit reprot--your tax problems such as happened to Joe the Plummer? This poor man asked one question and the humiliation from the result of asking Obama this question has smeared his very private and confidential! Socialistic Government doesn't allow you to question your government on anything--do we want our freedom of speech without a fear of retaliation-God help us because Obama destroyed an ordinary citizen who asked a simple question! Jodi you like to omit facts where it benifits your argument. Palin also served as a city councilman prior to becoming mayor. So as far a documented goverment experience Palin does out distance Obama. She also hold a higher National Security Clearence that either Obama or Biden.
Just because OBama has several degrees does not make him smart or prepared to lead this country. I have seen people like him and some of them need help getting dressed in the morning. They have the knowledge but no common sense. OBama has made some good connections and suckered the right people into going to bat for him. As far as experience he really has little to none. All he has done is sit in a senate seat for a very short time and when he did commit to a vote it was to raise taxes. Sarah Palin fits what this govt was founded on over 200 years ago. Remember of the people, by the people and for the people. Sarah Palin has been a city counciler, a mayor and a gov. The latter of which she has had to deal with some tough problems. She also can't be to dumb as she carries a higher Natl security clearence than either OBama or Biden. In her position as Gov of Alaska she is Commander in Chief of the only full time Natl. Guard organization in the entire US. She is constantly briefed and is privy to Natl. Security info. Her Guard units provide for our safety 24-7.

Yes, and she is also a perfect example of how "dumbed down" this country has become. The fact that she has many people that love her, reflects how people no longer care about intelligence. They will follow an idiot over a cliff, as long as they're telling them how religious they are, and that they agree with them on social issues. I'm fine with finding a candidate who agrees on the social issues, but NOT while ignoring their intelligence and educational background.

I have followed my own advice Levetta. I have educated myself well on both candidates. I am neither a Democrat nor am I a Republican, I'm a registered Independent. That means I look closely at both parties and make a choice based on facts, not on party lines and not on social issues. Where are your facts Jodi. I'm not exactly sure he's had more years in government, but most of his time in government has been campaigning for one position or another. Also, what is meant by "insight" is having substance and logic in your answers to questions. Again, something you may not understand. I live outside of Chicago, so I know a little something about the school systems. In 2007 2 Chicago Public Schools were rated in the top 100 in the country, while only 1 from the entire state of Alaska - which was a charter school, and Obama highly endorses Charter Schools and has spent a great deal of time pushing.
Jodi, you're stuck on an ivy league education being the only qualification for president. Intellegence? Eh..that's questionable. Frankly, it scares me more that Biden would be next in line. Now there's intellegence. He's out there giving speeches saying, "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. That tells me Obama is a lame duck and the countries that hate us already know that, which is why they want him elected. This country will be screwed.
You should re-read my posts. I have never claimed that educational background was the only factor for calculating qualifications. I have said it is an important part of the whole picture. Obama has BOTH more time in government and a much stronger educational background.
What Biden said was thoughtless and stupid for sure, but he is still much less an idiot than Sarah Palin. Even a decent portion of the Republican party agrees she is far from ready.

I don't care what church people go to, as long as their religious beliefs do not influence their decision making process, and they are not trying to impose their religion onto others. I seriously question the sanity behind Sarah Palin's religion, but that has absolutely nothing to do with my opinion of her. I may be leery of her religion, but she doesn't seem to be someone who is using it throughout her decision making process. She is not bringing it into every one of her arguments, so I can rule out her religious beliefs as a reason not to vote for her.

Gov. Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama! Sarah Palin years in a public office versus Sen. Obama is substantial! Remember Obama just was elected Senator in the year 2005! So Gov. Palin is a solid person! Values in the quality of life and her zeal to pursue freedom not only here, but abroad! Gov. Palin didn't have a family member take her at the age of 8 to hear a person who spoke out against America! Wm. Ayers is an unrepentent terrorist! Obama wants the American people to believe that Ayers was something of the past at the age of 8! While others question Obama's patriotism one has to ask oneself, then HOW DID OBAMA PICK THE SAME WHITE NEIGHBORHOOD AS AYERS to live? Thus allowing his children to go to the same school together. At the beginning of Obama campaign, Obama said they were friends! Also at the beginning of Obama's campaign, Obama makes it known--he will not wear the flag pin on his lapel! One has to ask--didn't Wm. Ayers proudly stomps on the American Flag--and Obama made his decision early on not to represent the American Flag on his lapel! And Obama thinks his smooth talking can ease the disease of his past! Not so fast--Americans are challenged in 2008--do we want a Socialistic govenment or do we want to be free to ask any politician a question without fear of mass media exposing your credit reprot--your tax problems such as happened to Joe the Plummer? This poor man asked one question and the humiliation from the result of asking Obama this question has smeared his very private and confidential! Socialistic Government doesn't allow you to question your government on anything--do we want our freedom of speech without a fear of retaliation-God help us because Obama destroyed an ordinary citizen who asked a simple question! Do we want this--NO!

If you're going to say she has more experience because of executive versus legislative experience...where does that leave McCain? 15 governors have been president, 16 senators have been president...BOTH offices are qualifiers for the presidency.

FYI - Perhaps you need a civics lesson....Our country already holds many "socialist" processes. Medicare/Medicaid, TAXES (of all kinds), Social Security, the 700 billion dollar bailout - ALL forms of socialism. It's all forms of taking money from the people who work for it and REDISTRIBUTING it. Moreover, McCain himself supported taking more taxes from those making more and spreading it out. He is on video saying exactly that in Michigan in 2000. Perhaps you all believe we were drowning in socialism under Bill Clinton - because Clintons tax plan then is exactly what Obama wants to do now. Were we living as socialists then?
Jodi you like to omit facts where it benifits your argument. Palin also served as a city councilman prior to becoming mayor. So as far a documented goverment experience Palin does out distance Obama. She also hold a higher National Security Clearence that either Obama or Biden.
Just because OBama has several degrees does not make him smart or prepared to lead this country. I have seen people like him and some of them need help getting dressed in the morning. They have the knowledge but no common sense. OBama has made some good connections and suckered the right people into going to bat for him. As far as experience he really has little to none. All he has done is sit in a senate seat for a very short time and when he did commit to a vote it was to raise taxes. Sarah Palin fits what this govt was founded on over 200 years ago. Remember of the people, by the people and for the people. Sarah Palin has been a city counciler, a mayor and a gov. The latter of which she has had to deal with some tough problems. She also can't be to dumb as she carries a higher Natl security clearence than either OBama or Biden. In her position as Gov of Alaska she is Commander in Chief of the only full time Natl. Guard organization in the entire US. She is constantly briefed and is privy to Natl. Security info. Her Guard units provide for our safety 24-7.

Yes, and she is also a perfect example of how "dumbed down" this country has become. The fact that she has many people that love her, reflects how people no longer care about intelligence. They will follow an idiot over a cliff, as long as they're telling them how religious they are, and that they agree with them on social issues. I'm fine with finding a candidate who agrees on the social issues, but NOT while ignoring their intelligence and educational background.

I have followed my own advice Levetta. I have educated myself well on both candidates. I am neither a Democrat nor am I a Republican, I'm a registered Independent. That means I look closely at both parties and make a choice based on facts, not on party lines and not on social issues. It's the wave of the future....gathering information BEFORE making up your mind.

There ARE NO FACTS to support your claims that she is more qualified than he is. He has a higher level of education, he has more years in government service, and he speaks with much greater insights than she ever has. Moreover, he can speak without being told by others what to say.

Where are your facts Jodi. I'm not exactly sure he's had more years in government, but most of his time in government has been campaigning for one position or another. Sarah has actually "governed" a state. Quite obviously, a "higher level of education", whatever the hell that means as they've both attended universities, has really done nothing for him. If you mean he has a greater insight into what a socialist society is, you're absolutely correct.
Also, what is meant by "insight" is having substance and logic in your answers to questions. Again, something you may not understand. If you can't understand that her answers lack insight, it's because you don't understand that there is a better way to answer questions. In other words, you have to "know better". If you're dumber than she is, it's true, she will sound brilliant to you!!!

There is NO argument against him being more qualified, NONE, the facts say he has more government time and a higher level of education, period. He has two separate degrees from ivy league schools, one of which is a law degree, very relevant to the position.
If you're going to say that because she was governor, and he senator, means she is more qualified, then where does that leave McCain? FACT: history, 15 governors have been president, 16 senators. Both offices are qualifying.
Perhaps you have never been to college and do not appreciate the significance of ivy league and/or a law degree versus a journalism degree. True, some well educated presidents have been terrible. But that is NO reason to start accepting seriously lacking people for the position. They should be BOTH, highly educated AND intellectually insightful. She is NEITHER.

I live outside of Chicago, so I know a little something about the school systems. In 2007 2 Chicago Public Schools were rated in the top 100 in the country, while only 1 from the entire state of Alaska - which was a charter school, and Obama highly endorses Charter Schools and has spent a great deal of time pushing.
Jodi, you're stuck on an ivy league education being the only qualification for president. Intellegence? Eh..that's questionable. Frankly, it scares me more that Biden would be next in line. Now there's intellegence. He's out there giving speeches saying, "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy. The world is looking. We're about to elect a brilliant 47-year-old senator president of the United States of America. Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. That tells me Obama is a lame duck and the countries that hate us already know that, which is why they want him elected. This country will be screwed.
You should re-read my posts. I have never claimed that educational background was the only factor for calculating qualifications. I have said it is an important part of the whole picture. Obama has BOTH more time in government and a much stronger educational background.
What Biden said was thoughtless and stupid for sure, but he is still much less an idiot than Sarah Palin. Even a decent portion of the Republican party agrees she is far from ready.
