"Like sands through the hourglass, so are the Days of our Lives." For over one-third of a century, those words have introduced and underscored one of daytime drama's rare mainstays. NBC's "Days of our Lives," which turned 42 this past November, first premiered as a half-hour drama in 1965 and expanded to an hour 10 years later. Today, it remains a consistent favorite among viewers of daytime television serials. On January 19th NBC announced that Days of Our Lives is unlikely to continue past 2009. 

In its 42 years, "Days of our Lives" has garnered numerous Emmy Awards and nominations, as well as multiple "Soap Opera Digest" and "People's Choice" Awards. The show's success derives from its consistent commitment to excellence in writing and storytelling - supported by a diverse ensemble of performers - and an uncanny knack for anticipating viewer interests. From demonic possessions and serial killers to genre traditions such as baby switches, amnesia and classic love triangles, "Days of our Lives" remains a perennial favorite among viewers of all ages.

"Days of our Lives" is set in the fictitious Midwestern town of Salem. The core families are the Hortons and Bradys, and the multi-layered storylines involve elements of romance, adventure, mystery, comedy and drama. Original cast member Frances Reid continues to star as Alice Horton.

"Days of our Lives" is produced by Corday Productions Inc. in association with Sony Pictures Television. Executive producer Ken Corday is following in the tradition of his parents, Betty and Ted Corday, who co-created "Days of our Lives" and helmed the series for many years. Ed Scott is also executive producer. Hogan Sheffer is the headwriter."

i have watched Days since the very beginning. i even kept up when i went back to work after having stayed home for a number of years with my children. now that i have retired, you just cannot take it away. it is better now than it has been in a number of years. please allow it to make its comeback!!!

My aunt turned ne onto Days when I was 8 (now 52years old) I even have my mon, husband and grown children who watch and now the story. The story lines should last forever and the show truly show the "Sands of Time" Vickie Baltimore

that's a real nice thankyou to all of us(the fans) who have been watching since the beginning. i'm getting to the point of not watching any soaps if they continue this nonsense playing games. passions,days of our lives,etc. have a very large audience/fan-base and how nice of them they should be ashamed of themselves for treating their very devoted fans like this!!.

I have been watching Days since I was 7 years old with my sister on summer breaks. I am now 35 and watch it every day. Save days!! I love the Daniel and Chelsea thing. I never thought she was deeply in love with Nick. Give her her true love, Daniel.

Does anyone have Mrs. Horton's donut recipe? I copied from the Days website,lost it and now it is no longer there. They are baked donuts. Thanks to my new days family.

I have watched days since it started. I have watched Hope grown from a teenager to a women married to the man she always loved bo. don't get rid of days. i still make it a point to watch everyday.

I have been an avid watcher of DAYS for 23 years. Please keep they show on the air! These characters draw us into their lives and keep us there forever. In a time where everyone wants to throw the baby out with the wash, let's hang on to our precious baby DOOL! The writing is getting better as are the actors. Don't be cowards! keep the show running longer than the war on terror!

I've been watching Days of Our Lives for many years. I started watching the show when I was 4 yes I said 4 years old. When I started Kind. I made my mom put me in am classes so I could watch Days after school!! Thats the GODS honest truth. I am 29 almost 30 so I've been loving the show for over 20 years. PLEASE PLEASE KEEP MY SHOW ON THE AIR!!!!!! I LOVE IT. The economy is already gouing to **** with food and gas prices the way they are. Don't take our show away. Keep something good and simple. Don't we as Americans deserve some peace? GO DAYS WE LOVE YOU!! KEEP OUR SHOW ON TAKE SOMETHING ELSE BUT NOT DAYS!

how can you people be thinking about taking a show off the air that has been on for years i think my favorite part of days is christmas with the hortons when they hang the christmas ornments on mrs. h's tree please don't take it off the air i think its better now than it has been in years.

It's safe to say now, after all this years that I used to skip school go to my friend's house and watch Days together and talk about it after dinner.
I know the writers can come up with story lines and great ones. Leave the Brady's and the Horton's alone to live there lifes.

Iam 61 years. as long as I REMEMBER I have always watches dates. It is the best soap that was ever on t.v.Please do not take it off. Days is the only soap that I watce. It is the only soap that comes on nbc.Carolyn, miss.

WE NEED TO HAVE MORE SOAPS LIKE DAYS OF OUR LIVES. I HAVE BEEN WATCHING THIS SOAP FOR 26 YEARS. Cancel Days of Our Lives? You have got to be kidding.
I have a full and wonderful life...work, home, husband, kids. But losing Days would really make me sad. I began watching Days right from the beginning with my grandmother, 42 years ago; we watched Bo and Hope in New Orleans with her on her deathbed. It's like family!
And I love the new direction the show is taking...
I love also that they stay true to the past. PLEASE, there is alot of trash on tv....maybe some think soaps are...but they are a great escape.
I really GRIEVED losing Another World...please not again! Look at the crap that was put in it's place...how long did it last?
(Good God Almighty...save our soap!...ok does He care?
Well He knows I love Days, and He cares about what I care about.)

Please don't cancel the only soap I watch now, and I have watched Days of Our Lives since I was a very young child, so young that it's really one of the first shows that I can remember watching with my mother on a daily basis. It may seem strange, but they almost seem like family now that I'm 34 yrs old...I even feel all their emotions! Please let the show continue:( WE LOVE YOU DAYS OF OUR LIVES!!!

I have watched DAYS since I was 8 years old with my mother. I am now 43 years old and watch it with my 5 year old daughter. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THIS SHOW OFF THE AIR. WE LOVE IT.

I have been watching Days since I was 16. I am now 52 and still try to see some of the show. I liked it better at 12 noon til 1:00 time slot. but still love the show. Keep it going.

It was bad enough when another world was cancelled, I cant believe Days is in trouble. the neilson polls always show that days gets high ratings,I have been watching for half my life and it is the only soap I watch.

Days of our lives has been my favorite soap for at least 30 years.If NBC cancels this soap, I hope one of the other stations has the good sense to pick it up. I'am so disappointed in NBC for the way they treat thier soaps. Another World, Sunset Beach, and Passions, all cancelled by NBC. Days is starting to get so much better lateley,it should be able to stay on in spite of NBC's dislike for soaps. It finally got noticed at the Day Time Emmy's this year, it is about time for that.
