Save HD DVD formatForum Discussion for Save HD DVD format 12345next ›last » Submitted by Cassidy C. on Sat, 04/26/2008 - 20:47
HD DVD has no chance of winning against the Blu-ray format. No matter that we, the fans wand HD DVD, the companies took it away from us and make us use Blu-ray! Blu Ray still has not matched HD DVD in features and loos like it will not until the end of the year!!!! Submitted by Pat M. on Sun, 04/06/2008 - 03:45
I agree with this fully. Blueray shows details that we would not naturally see in real life. The hd-dvd format should stay. Let the people choose for themselves which type of disk they want. Submitted by Heisenberg d. on Mon, 03/31/2008 - 17:50
I think that Microsoft should buy HD-DVD for its next console, is a really good format for gaming (not like blueray) and it has a lot of space, it will be wise to do it, plus dead tech cost less. Submitted by Seiji J. on Sat, 03/22/2008 - 01:42
Get over with it! Blu-Ray has won! Warner Bros went over to Blu-Ray which gave them acess to over 2/3 of the film industry. And not only that. Like Sanjivaka said. Only one can come out on top. And that will be Blu-Ray. Submitted by Elizabeth E. on Wed, 03/12/2008 - 03:10
ah, yeah. id like to choose which software i want to use. we cant all afford blueray.it should stay as dvd, hd dvd, or blueray. we should not be made to purchase only one type. if they do, their sales will fall, watch. here's an idea, dont buy wb items anymore until they make it all an option again. Well you can all continue supporting HD DVD for all i care, watching the same movies over and over again because you ain't getting any new ones in HD! Lol! Submitted by Benjamin F. on Fri, 02/22/2008 - 20:12

i have toshiba lcd and hddvd player, icant just understand why such a good player should be burried i will support hd till the day i die. Submitted by Reaper T. on Thu, 02/21/2008 - 16:54
Th reason why you paid less than a £100 for your HD DVD player is either it was one of the much older models or it was after Warner went Blu and so Toshiba slashed all their prices as a last desperate attempt! Thats what people don't get. The reason why HD DVD players are so cheap is because the format was dieing! And now it is well and truly dead as the last domino has fallen. Paramount has gone Blu meaning that come May no stuido will be making HD DVD's. Submitted by Billy C. on Thu, 02/21/2008 - 13:56
I'll just rent sd dvd's till blu sells for less than $100. that's all I paid for my Toshiba HD-DVD player. All my HD-DVD's will still look good for many years to come. When and if I get blu hopefully they'll look good too. Please don't feel sorry for me, feel sorry for the folks that bought blu-ray models that no longer play blu-ray movies. I hope they win that class action lawsuit vs Samsung. Submitted by Reaper T. on Thu, 02/21/2008 - 09:42
Although i feel sorry for people who brought in to HD DVD , i have to say that in a sense they deserve it. You all should have known the risks of buying in to a format sooo early. I waited and so haven't got a dead format lying around (which could have been Blu for all i care). Submitted by peter m. on Thu, 02/21/2008 - 04:00

HD DVD is better the affordability and the online features are more user friendly i think toshiba should not bail we wasted money on supporting hd dvd i just baught american gangster i think universal should stay hd dvd and we should prebail the prices are better and u can have the complete home entertaiment center i have xbo360 hd add on an i love it please join me in emailing everybody o n craigslist try to jump ship by telling them about the petition the media is making it seem that there is no body out there that supports hd dvd and thats a lie the only reason the stores are dropping the format is because their sales people are not qualified about either format there should be a class action law suit against these retailers for supporting a product and bailing on us they say the price will drop now that they have one format but as far as i know thats a monopoly now they can set there prices high for the bluerays and not care also sony lied saying the ps3 sold 10million units of there allready dead gaming system everybody knows that micrososft and nitendo is out selling them the 360 owners where just waiting for the price to drop on the hd dvd add on so they could complete their hd home entertaiment center dont be stupid toshiba Submitted by Mike G. on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 09:57
I recently ,15 days ago, purchased Toshiba E35 nice player and good value for money! Submitted by Dan S. on Wed, 02/20/2008 - 02:48
So it doesn't mean that we can buy blu ray!!Blu ray is to **** expensive and we expect to switch to blu ray.Hd dvd has better features, interactive content, and many more.Sony is just wanting consumers to buy it!Even though toshiba bailed out on hd dvd they would still support hd dvd and lg electronics says they dont want hd dvd to die.So even though its officialy dead it doesn't mean that you should go out and buy a blu ray player. And paramount denied that they would join universal and warner. They just announce they were realesing beowulf, sweeney todd, and much more.So all im saying is don't waste on a expensive blu ray player.Go with hd dvd!!!! Submitted by Reaper T. on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 19:10
John Toshiba has already dropped HD DVD and Universal Studios has just gone Blu too! They have listened to the people as Blu Ray was out selling HD DVD by miles!!! Thats a fact!!! Submitted by John D. on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 17:51
HD DVD is definetly the better format even if the Blu Ray has more space on it HD DVD picture quality is better, the audio is better, it is way cheaper and I have an xbox 360 and I would love to get the HD DVD add on for it.Toshiba better not drop HD DVD, they should see what the consumers say about them dropping before they make a move, alot of people will probably not like them dropping it Submitted by Reaper T. on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 10:49
As predicted Toshiba has officially dropped HD DVD and will no doubt turn to Blu Ray in a week or so! Submitted by Trinh B. T. on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 00:50
I had 2 HD DVD players and I enjoyed watching HD-DVD movies. The price is right, the pictures are beautiful and detailled, and I will continue to buy HD-DVD discs as long as they are available. Toshiba must not stop their support for the HD-DVD format. Submitted by m t. on Tue, 02/19/2008 - 00:29
i injoy hd dvds don't let it die.i had a bata along time ago and it didn't lest very long.don't lets this die the way of the bata. Submitted by Reaper T. on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 20:03
Well it looks like Toshiba is going to jump ship tomorrow too and support blu ray. If it does then the format is well and truly dead as Toshiba produces the vast majority of HD DVD players. http://forums.highdefdigest.com/showthre... And HD DVD is region free only for the moment. Its been confirmed that all HD DVD players have built in region codes it's just that HD DVD hasn't started enforcing it yet (making region coded discs). This is the same as Blu Ray who produced region free discs until recently when they became region coded. So in theory HD DVD could do the exact same thing Sony did and start producing region coded discs. Submitted by Jon G. on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 17:10
All I know is that Greek is a language not supported for subtitles in HD-DVD. If that changes in the near future, maybe me and about another 42.000 Greek people might think to sing this petition. By following this link, you can see why I say 42.000... http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/s... Thank you. Submitted by Michael H. on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 16:39
HD-DVD is the best choice in HD. Toshiba sold up to date players. Not all Blu-Ray players will play profile 2.0; HD-DVD players do. Submitted by Michael R. on Mon, 02/18/2008 - 00:25
This not about consumer choice- its all about the studios having total control of what it allows you to watch, on what equipment, what region and at a price of their choosing. Submitted by Dan S. on Sun, 02/17/2008 - 23:47
