Save Stargate Atlantis "Penny" Mailing Campaign

Here is the website for the Save SGA Mailing Campaign:

http://www.wix.com/SaveSGA/Campaign

In an effort to get MGM to reverse their decision about canceling Stargate Atlantis, persons pledging to join with us will send lightweight packages to MGM via USPS using signature confirmation &/or send ready-to-print penny postcards.  This campaign is the first part of this effort to save SGA.  There are two messages that seem to work for those that do and do not want to boycott. The penny is still our unifying theme -- "The Last Penny"  and "A Penny for my Thoughts."  There is debate over whether a boycott will get their attention as much as positive attention to SGA will.

So that all postcards could be posted -- along with others that any of you have made, I created a photobucket account.  I also made a group account for anyone wanting to share SGA banners.

Here are the postcards I created:
http://photobucket.com/Save_SGA_Campaign

And here is a group account I made for everyone else to put their postcards:
http://photobucket.com/Save_SGA

And also another group account for banners that you'd like to share:
http://photobucket.com/SaveSGAbanners

For both of the group accounts I made it so I'd approve it before it goes up, just in case the content is posted isn't appropriate. It will also allow me to double check the size of postcard to make sure they are the same size as the back of the postcards. I've made all of mine 4.25 by 6 inches, mainly because that is the largest size allowable for a postcard stamp in the States. It is pretty easy to resize items with photo editing program on photobucket, in case you need it a different size for printing.  Please check the postcards you post for correct size before you post if at all possible. Thanks :)  But if you can't/don't know how, I'll do my best to fix them in a timely fashion. and post them again.

Please check out the postcards -- there are many new ones. And also please post your own too! Hopefully this will allow us to have everything in one place.

Stargate:Atlantis is the best show I've seen for a long time. The last time I enjoyed a show that much, was when they released the X-files. Please don't stop producing Stargate Atlantis!! There are fans all over the world who love the show. I also won't pay a penny for any other tv- show until They announce that they're making a sixth season of Stargate Atlantis! If you stop producing Stargate, millions of people will be dissapointed and upset. Please don't stop making SGA!
Please keep Stargate Atlantis. We love it! http://stargate-news.com/
please don't stop filming stargate atlantis. it's an amazing show with funs all over the world...............

Please keep Stargate Atlantis on the air. And bring back Dr. Carson Beckett for good!

stargate sg1 and atlantis are two of the best scifi shows of all time. to stop them in a bad economy is worse than stopping at all, people will give up going out to save money stay home and see a friend that what stargate is to alot of people its like a scifi soap and WE WANT MORE IT CAN'T END NOW BRING IT BACK
BRING IT BACK YES YOU CAN.

This campaign is welcomed considering the position that Stargate has in the society at the moment. I will try to get more people involved in this action because I am going on a trip with European Cruises and I will meet a lot of people. I hope to have success!

Let's save Atlantis! It was just getting good with all of the new twists like Rodney actually growing as a person - the alliances being formed throughout Pegasus, and even Sheppard becoming more of a proactive guy. Sure the Todd angle had its ups and downs, but what about Ta'la and her baby - the baby was supposed to be some sort of profit - but we didn't even get to see the kid grow into being a toddler, let alone a profit. SAVE ATLANTIS, please. Sci-fi doesn't need shows like "Man vs. Mansion" or the other so-called "reality" shows. Leave those to the primary networks - we want SCI-FI - we want ATLANTIS!

Just some encouragement from a Jericho fan that also is a SGA fan.

I am going to miss Atlantis dearly ! ! !

I am a Jericho Ranger and we are now in a campaign aimed at the bean counters. Proving that Jericho is profitable to produce and waiting for a season 3 to result. We involved the actors and producers. We did nuts, ads, publicity where we could get it, a billboard in Holywood, a save Jericho again fan ad on the UHD. Brad Byer (Stanley) did the voice over on that one. We have reruns on NBC UHD and the CW. We are running a campaign with the bean counters now - You Tube and ITube, Fancast views , netflex rentals, the UHD & CW viewership numbers, the merchandise and DVD sales, and the world wide viewership. We send feedback after each epsode to the HD and CW. WE have letters that go out on Modays & thursdays to the programing execs on CBS, NBC, CW, USA networks and some others. We are sending letters with a Jericho "check" to comcast. We ae still trying. check out the Jericho forum here.

Give Atlantis a worthy fight for renewal with MGM. You have a good chance. Don't let it pass you by.

I also was trying to find e-mail addresses for Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie... Does anyone have them handy? Thanks :)

I don't but I asked on gateworld, so hopefully I'll get an answer soon :)

Does anyone know where to send e-mails in order to get them to TPTB? Thanks :)

Hi.
For MGM - comments@mgm.com
David Howe - Dave.howe@nbcuni.com
For SciFi - feedback@scifi.com
Thomas Vital - Thomas.Vitale@nbcuni.com
For Charles Cohen - ccohen@mgm.com

I have never tried to save a TV show from dying before, but a cancellation of a series has never affected me the way that this one has.. Atlantis has been a highlight of my TV viewing life and I am not willing to let it go without a fight.

Since cancelling SGA is about the money, maybe we should write letters to the sponsors and let Sci-Fi and MGM know we are doing it? Also, there is another poll "if you want to save SGA" it was just started a couple of days ago.

I am going to say not one red cent! and I am going to paint my penny red! scifinut007

Cool -- thanks for replying on here :)

Hi. Can you tell me where to send e-mails to TPTB? Thanks :)

I too plan to send cards the month of december. I will try and start the last week of November, bur since this is a holiday for us I can't promise.

Bring back SGA!

I've changed the mailing date, so we're not doing the mailing until January -- the week of the finale. Hope you can join us then :)

I would like to do this...but I would want to rephrase it as "I won't spend one more penny on anything NOT Stargate Atlantis related until SGA returns".

The only reason is that I'm afraid if we phrase it the original way and if it doesn't work and they don't care how many of us are ticked and still keep SGA cancelled...they may also decide not to even do the SGA movies. I would be SO ticked if this ended up not getting SGA back on ...and then they cancelled the SGA movies too. *sigh*

There are blank postcards. You can write whatever you'd like. But, the point of a boycott is to get them to take notice. With Firefly, people bought tons to support the show with the hope they would bring it back. Same goes for Serenity. FOX made a lot of money, and we never got anymore Firefly -- no matter how much we supported it.

As for the movie -- well, it is going to be 1 movie, which I doubt there is anything we could do to stop it.

If you read a little bit more about why the creators agreed to canceled SGA, you might not feel so bad about boycotting all of it either.

I pledge to send my packages over a few days in the week that we pick. I'll send them to Mr. Cohen at MGM and Brad Wright at Bridge Studios.

Boycotts have been know to work. That is the point of this! And if you read the message boards, lots of people aren't planning on watching SGU. It isn't that we don't want to -- it's that it was created at the expense of a story that had years left in it, but more important a storyline and characters we love!

You also don't know SG history. SG1 and SGA ran concurrently for 3 full seasons. SGA was not the reason SG1 went off the air. 10 years on TV had more to do with it than anything, I would suspect. Fans were already invested in SGA, and ready to move on the the movies.

Money is the the reason for SGA's cancellation -- not poor ratings, not lack of making money -- it is the want of making more on DVD sales and paying new actors less money. It's not what the fans wanted (look at a few message boards on sci-fi and gateworld -- and you will understand the situation better.)

Also, by your reasoning, we should never boycott, never stand up for what we want because "they" might punish us by never making anything good again. Hmm... They might only produce crap if we dare rock the boat. Well, I think they won't have a network if they don't produce good shows. But someone else will, and that is where viewers will go. Get rid of SGA, and fans will leave.

We certainly want to watch all SG shows, but we are so upset that what the fans wanted was not a consideration. The polls on this site suggest that people would rather watch SGA by a margin of 7.5(SGA) to 1(SG1)to less than one(SGU). Doesn't that tell you that this is a poor business decision?

It's amazing how much people complain about SGA's demise, but aren't willing to do something to let MGM and others that we don't want something new at the expense of something we love. Now, bring on SGU concurrent with SGA, and you will have a lot of happy people. And If both aired on Friday, they would be unstoppable.

Season 5 was already written before they were canceled, so we can expect a huge cliffhanger with no wrap up until we get some 2 hour movie-to-DVD wrap up. Yep -- One. And it's done.

It's disgusting to treat loyal customers this way. And that goes for any show with a loyal viewership. In this case, you have a huge fan base. It's just plain wrong.

Next time read a little bit more before you tell us what we should or shouldn't do. Logically, if we don't try to fix a problem, they will treat us this way again and again.

All I can say is thanks for getting me fired up about this. I am more convinced that fighting to save SGA is the best, most logical course of action if we ever hope to have our opinions valued by MGM, SG, Sci-fi.... After all, without the fans, they don't have anything at all.

You go SGAfan4life!! I have the same feelings!! And I have expressed those feelings in postcards to MGM/Brad Wright/SciFi. They will make more money if they KEEP the fans than if they disrespect them!

Thanks :) I'm working on a website for the mailing campaign. Hopefully it will be ready tomorrow.

i dont understand what refusing to watch stargate universe will achieve.
i love stargate atlantis ,but doing that will not bring it back.
will dissuade tv companies from investing in new series even more - at present its a real struggle and getting harder all the time
dont kid yourselves theres a real danger that decent quality sci fi series could become a thing of the past,as companies play it more and more safe and only invest in one off films.
low quality ones at that.
but you could also be denying yourself what maybe a great experience of a great new show.
if we had all done that when sg1 was axed, then atlantis would have been axed three seasons ago.
so wheres the logic?

Shut your pie hole and go watch 90210 EMO!

SAVE SGA!
