Hey this is for all you awesome troops! I'm Jennifer I'm 19 & I live in Ohio about 3 miles from this little town called Sugarcreek. I've lived here all my life. I have an older sister who is 23 (she just got married a year ago) & I have 2 younger half sisters ages 16 & 9 & a 19 month old half brother. We are all safe because of troops just like you & despite what the media says you are all HEROS!!! Hello from the small town of Lakeland, GA. You might say that everyone pretty much knows everybody. No, it is not like “Mayberry” but close. When I moved here with my husband 5 years ago, he has lived here most of his life, the town had one small hospital, two small drug stores, one grocery store, Hardee’s, Huddle House, 2 small café’s, Subway, four convenient stores three with gas. We also have about 12 different churches, Banks Lake very big, Lake Emma smaller 1 and friendly people. Things are the same but with some additions. We now have Fred’s (store), Milltown Pizza & Subs (booming business), Chen’s Chinese, & soon to arrive Churches Fries Chicken, Firehouse Restaurant(not subs) and one more which no word what it will be. Either I am easy to be entertained or there is nothing else to get excited about!!, for a small town that seems a lot. They were bunches and bunches of land for sale all around. There goes the woods! We are about 12 miles out from town. Now they are houses being built around and getting closer to our 20 acres. Guess the town is coming to the country. I told my husband, ‘We need to get further back in the woods, real deep!’ He laughs…We can hear the frogs, crickets and at times hear a howling coyote at night. Yes coyote, I know weird, but several were caught and I was told that they are around us. COOL. I see rabbits, deer, raccoons, possum, & ofcourse snakes. Our fishpond has bass, brim, catfish & warmouths. Some of the fish has grown to be two hands wide. They are a family of white ducks and wood ducks. On the 20 acres we plant corn, squash, okra, many peas, watermelon, string beans, TOMATOES or ‘maters as my grandsons would say. Once you leave the highway you are on dirt roads, sandy roads.. If it doesn’t rain a lot, they are like washboards (if you don’t have a headache when you get on, you will when you get off!) When it does rain a lot, it is clay, slippin’ & slidin’! Oh man the kids love that.I hope that my town brought a smile or two, even if it was short and brief.

They aren’t enough words to express, what all of you mean to us. The sacrifices you have made to protect your family and ours. Thank you and love you just doesn’t seem to be enough. Hang on the happy funny thoughts. Do what ever you have to, to get home soon.

  I wanted to take a moment and say Hi.  My name is Michelle, but I go by Elle.  I want to thank you for serving your country.  While I do not always agree with the policies our government sets in motion, I will always support our troops. My father served in the Korean war and WWII.  He was proud of his service; you should be equally proud of yours. 

     I live in a small rural town in the NE mtns. of CA.  I am as far North as L.A. is South.   The area is in the middle of the Redwoods and is beautiful.  During the summer temps reach upwards of 110, winters we get snow.  I love being able to enjoy all four seasons.  I have a daughter, 26, and a grandson almost 13.  They are both the light of my life and the song in my heart.   I garden, read, sew and futz around.  Due to chronic pain syndrome, I retired on disablity about 7 yrs. ago.  While it is a "pain" LOL, it is what it is and I make it work.

     I wish I had time to write more, but I had to go to town today, so I am playing catch up.  I hope this finds you and your fellow troops well and healthy.  I pray for the day when you will all be home; safe and sound.  Until then, be proud, hold your head high and know that back home you are loved.   Best Wishes.....Elle
