Issue:

Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, or textbook.

Belief:

An argument has begun over whether Wikipedia should allow pages that provide proofs for mathematical theorems. Some people benefit from these proofs. But how do you choose which proofs to include and which to exclude?

Forum Discussion for Should Wikipedia Allow Mathematical Proofs?

As already noted, external links and references are always possible avenues to provide the same information on mathematical proofs without them actually being housed on Wikipedia. This way the "Wikipedia is not a manual, guidebook, or textbook" rule is maintained but information about the proof is still accessible.

Who would police that? They can be added as external links.
