Description:

A Malaysian municipal body, Selayang Municipal Council, has come up with this novel idea to solve the dog problem in the area...giving 15,000 ringgit (Approx USD 4,285) to anyone who brings in more than 150 strays within six months.

The council has openly stated that it will not be held responsible for any injury or damage caused in their attempts to catch these stray dogs. The only requirement was that these dogs be brought in alive. The council does not seem to care for the welfare of the dogs that are brought in and there was no statement anywhere in their advertisement stating that the dogs that are caught must be caught in a humane manner.

ITS RIDICULOUS,THIS PEOPLE MUST NOT EXIST IN THIS WORLD- I WOULD LIKE TO EXTERMINATE PEOPLE WHO HURT ANIMALS!

STOP THIS!

I almost hate coming to this part of the site, that is so disgusting, the poor dogs, if they have a population problem why don't they use the same money to have dogs spayed and neutered?  I just can't believe this, it's like going out of the way to be cruel to animals.

I hope your petition raises peoples awareness, I wish I knew more people to send it to.  Thank you for letting us know about this.

This is ludicrous!  How stupid can they be?  I would just die if someone picked my dog up just so they could get money.  I guarantee dogs that aren't stray will also be targeted.  How about using that money to spay/neuter these stray dogs and work on finding them homes, especially if they are healthy dogs.

There is an SPCA.  The council will turn the dogs brought in over to the SPCA.  You have to wonder what the conditions of the dog will be.  And I wonder how many pets will be abducted at $5 a dog.

I don't suppose there's an equivalent to the SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in Malaysia? Is there any effort to stop them from breeding?  Perhaps an investment in spaying/neutering would be more beneficial longterm.
