stop using dogs as shark bait

Description:

Please, you have to help me to stop that carnage that they do to dogs and cats.  Fishermen use live dogs and cats to catch sharks.....they plant a big hook in the back and front of their paws or in their nose and throw them into the ocean,catch a shark, cut the back fins of shark (which there is already another person who start a pledge to help sharks too) and throw the shark back into the ocean.  If the dog (or cat) is still alive, they throw him back to catch more sharks.....how more sick-minded and cruel a fisherman can be???

I may be only 15 but as i read these comments to find out if this is true, by blood is boiling with anger.
I cannot believe this is actually being done.
i am a strong believer against animal cruelty, and although i have a MASSIVE huge fear of sharks, i would not wish this on anything.
And as for the dogs, these poor animals are defenceless innocent animals, i cannot believe these fishermen, sinking down to a deep new low on this one.
this is DISCUSTING and inhumane, these people deserve to be hooked alive and used as bait themselves.
this is disturbing and unethical.
they should be ashamed.
we need more people to sign this.
so people can take action.
because if we don't do something, who will?

I agree, stop the cruelty that's being done to these poor animals. Maybe the fisherman should be used as bait and see how they like it.

I'm never eating shark again, and if no one eats it, the cruel fisherman will have to find something else to do, like be volunteers instead of animals in stupid product testing. Buffy

It is really disgusting what our world is coming too when we display such a lack of respect for another life. Punishment should come in the same form as the crime committed. I always wonder why humans cry out in outrage when sharks attack, or tigers attack it is deserved.

The picture of the dog with the HUGE hook through his nose made me ill not to mention angry. The sick, bottom feeding scum doing this kind of thing should be punished by more than a slap on the hand and a possible two year jail term. Even if it is isolated incidents, it should not be happening at all, and it should be stopped. Its to bad that all human beings are not capable of the kind of unconditional love that dogs are.

It is disgusting to say the least, to imagine a person doing something so extremely low and inhumane. Someone should investigate these practices, catch the perpetrators before they sacrifice the animal, and given life inprisonment for this. This is the only way to stop this.

I cant even believe that this is actually going on somewhere in the world. I am so appaulled, when I saw this I couldnt believe my eyes. Those people should spend the rest of thier lives in prison. They should also recieve a hook through theyre faces and upper jaws and be drug thru the sea and of course if they make it put em in jail.

This is the first time I have heard of this kind of sub human activity. Yes it should be stoped and a good way to stop it is to take the people that are doing it and put them is the dogs place. Simpley giving them over to the law will do nothing to stop them, they will simpley pay the fine and go out and do it agin. People that treat other creatures like they do have no right to breath air.

While I sign the petition it is with the understanding that the practice is already illegal and people have been prosecuted for the act. The Snopes report does reflect that as well as the possibilities that the video may not be a result of being a bait dog, but an accidental entanglement. Being around dogs for most of my life, I know they can do some pretty stupid things while they lumber, lovingly through life.
