Westtown Township - Board of Supervisors

Description:

We, the undersigned, are concerned residents of Westtown Township or the WCASD who are providing our names as evidence in support of the revised Westtown light ordinance and the approval of the ordinance and installation of lights at the Rustin stadium.

We, the undersigned understand the Westtown Township Planning Commission approved the revised light ordinance on June 4, 2008 and are waiting for the Westtown Township Board of Supervisors to formally vote and approve the ordinance.  We also understand that some citizens and Supervisors are concerned and opposed to the proposed ordinance and installation of lights at the stadium. We understand that all technical light issues have been fully discussed and resolved.  All other issues that have been discussed surrounding lights are as follows: noise, open “punch list” items for WCASD, traffic, safety, police support, and 40 night maximum.  There exist plans and procedures to satisfy and meet all of these requirements with no negative impact to adjacent neighbors.

Yes to KNIGHT-lights!

We need to have home games on our own field! Put up the stadium lights so we can rally at our own school!

What is the problem? The lights should have been installed when they build the football field. It like no icing on a cake! The lights are used for 1 day a week game for three months, what is the problem? They should have built a pool while they were at it!

I support lights. We have a wonderful football team.
We need to give our kids something to do on weekend nights. More school functions may keep them out of trouble and into school spirit!

What the hell is going on here, frankly I think we should demolish the place and start again, who’s with me?

Rustin is a beautiful school that has poorly used athletic field(s)because of lighting issues. Purchase lights, please.

Fully support the lights!

Pattie

As A resident of Westtown, I find it embarrassing that we would build a new school and forget to put up lights ! PUT EM UP AND TURN THEM ON !

I am a resident of the Plumly Farm neighborhood--just across the street from the Rustin site. (In fact, because I own a corner property, I would certainly get my share of lighting be installed.) My wife and I generally support having lights at the stadium site, provided the track is accessible to the public. I am alarmed that the school district is requesting public support of the lights but has banned the public from using the track.

Without lights at St. Max when and where are our kids supposed to practice? Currently our coaches volunteer their time in the evenings (after working all day) to conduct practices. First, who has a lit field that they are willing to let us use for free for practices? Second, why should we have to drive our kids all over Chester County for practice due to the insensitivity of a very few people. Therefore, let there be light at Rustin and St. Max and any other tax paying facility in Westtown that wants them!

There's probably already been more money spent in "red-tape" than what it would have cost to have them installed when the field was built and operated for a year!

As a life-long resident of Westtown, neighbor of Rustin HS and parent, I am thrilled to have the school here and welcome the addition of lights. Let's get 'em put up!!!

Yes, Show me the lights!!!!!

I WANNA SEE THE LIGHT!!!

On top of team spirit issues, what is the cost of moving all of our teams to alternate fields? For the football season, football, cheerleaders, band and equipment must be moved for every home game.In a time of budget cutbacks it seems a ridiculous expense. Put the lights in, turn them on, and let's be done with this already!!

The fact that lights were not installed in a new football stadium is absurd. There is no reason why the students at Rustin should not be able to play at home in a brand new stadium. It is a waste of taxpayers money that Rustin students have to be bussed to another stadium to play with lights. Install lights now and stop this insanity.
