Description:

Most people in the United States agree that our tax code is in a state of massive disarray. The federal income tax system continues to fail to stimulate economic growth while confusing most Americans - even employees of the IRS! It is about time we rethink our approach to how the federal government funds services, and formulate a national sales tax approach to replace the federal income tax to assist the taxpayer. Although this issue can be a rather lengthy argument that could span ten pages of material, lets start with the basics.

- The current system in the US taxes individuals before they have the ability to decide what to do with the money they are earning.

- A national sales tax system would be less complex, with taxes issued after funds are in our pockets. That alone provides us much more freedom to expand.

Very much agreed! No sales tax on food, and no income tax!

Intuitively, taxing spending rather than income makes sense.

I have one issue with it; while it's not regressive, per se, it does 'feel' regressive, because it will hit low income families harder. Perhaps if groceries weren't taxed as in some states.

The current system, because of its complexity, is unfair. With the same data, two individuals will never pay the same tax so someone is screwed. That is not fair. Experts can't agree, IRS staffers can't agree, so change it. Earn as much as you want, and just pay when you buy. What a great and simple idea.
