Description:

A Dark Superman?  The Dark Knight's recent success has convinced WB the next pack of superhero movies should have the same brooding tone.  The evil side to characters is now the key to unlocking some of their DC properties. "We're going to try to go dark to the extent that the characters allow it," Group Pres. Robinov says. "That goes for the company's Superman franchise as well."

Are we ready for this?

A Darker superman is an awsome idea and should have been done years ago, he is the strongest person on the planet, and believe me when i say everyone is able to kill given the correct situation. I say let him loose, kill, rampageand torture.
Yeah make him bad, why not? Just show that people are racists and hate what they don't understand. Mankind unites against what seems to be an alien danger,Kal El. On the other hand Superman tries to dominate the world and bring it to it's knees creating a new world order, at which he rules with iron fist and leads mankind into rapid technological and moral evolution.Heroes arise to challenge the Kryptonian God, legions give their last breathe to defend Earth only to realize that none can win destiny.Make it 3D , change that gay costume of superman with one more black and gray and there you have a kick ass movie even darker than "Dark" knight(yeah right...dark my ass)
no no NO to dark Superman! If you want to introduce the "dark side" idea with Superman, have some really BAD things happen to people around him or something, but the way he handles it MUST be SUPER-good. He never kills, so don't change that! Superman has always been the example of the type of person we should all strive to be like and changing that would be flat wrong!

Don't go dark do just the opposite. America is different the American way Superman stands for is gone you have to bring it back in the movies because not enough people read comics to see how great a hero he is. You need to bring in a great villain like Mongrol or Darkseid and show Superman as great as he realy is. We can't let marvel beat DC!!!!!

Superman doesn't need to be dark, that isn't what it should be about. Please do not turn it into another Dark Knight. Just make it better than Superman Returns. Please use the Post-Crisis model and have it be Clark Kent using Superman as a disguise and not the other way around.

Using Tom Welling and Erica Durance wouldn't be a bad thing.....just make sure that it is a standalone superman movie in the sense that you wouldn't need to be a Smallville fan to watch it. In fact, don't even mention Smallville in any of the ads at all.

NOT MY MAIN MAN SUPERMAN! HE COULD NEVER GO DOWN THE DARK SIDE!! TRUTH JUSTICE AND THE AMERICAN WAY! DO NOT RUIN SUPERMAN!!

Please don't spoil the Superman mythos - Batman is the dark one, not Supes! They tried that in the Spiderman 3 movie and the bad Peter Parker segment is the lamest one in the entire movie. You could try doing Supes vs Dark Superman but they already tried that in Hulk 2 with disastrous results. So just let Supes be the All-American, make-you-feel-good super hero which is the secret behind the success of Smallville and the Chris Reeve Superman movies. Not every super-hero has to be dark to be successful. But get a better actor than Brandon Routh who looks like he is CGI-generated rather than live.

a bad superman is sure to be a hit,,,from exploding kryton to apokalips,,,then somehow realize and see his true destination planet and chages to a good superman,,,
theres always been a bad side for everyone to change
,,,

vote tom welling for superman!
make superman as "smallville the movie"

DARK SUPES NO WAY HE IS NOTHING LIKE BATS! SO DONT MAKE HIM OUT TO BE!!! HE HAS ALWAYS BEEN PURE FROM THE VERY START IN JUNE 1938 SO PLEASE DONT GO AND MESS THAT UP

Dark Superman no! But a good history and very hard action. The Superman actualy is very dumb!

Dark super man is not needed. Superman fighting a completely new villain from what he normally fights in movies is is whats needed.

****

To all writers out there for the coming superman movies.

Spiderman already showed his dark side, that turned out to be his enemy, millions of people bought that story and its a box office record ain't no doubt about it and me myself also like the movie.

Batman also showed his dark or darker side and its a magnificent job with their brilliant mind put together they were able to place batman movies into a different level - astonishing and very interesting.

Now, if your going to walk the same line those two movies did, c'mon where is the essence of surprise. Where is the interesting one of a kind story that will be loved by millions of people. PLEASE DONT MAKE A SUPERMAN MOVIE THAT'S VERY PREDICTABLE AND CHEAP...PLEASE!! We've seen superman fight with doomsday in comics or in animated cartoons, we saw his dark character in superman III, we already know how he live in his early years, we saw him saved the world in 1978 superman movie and a similar story line in superman returns. What we want and love to see is not the same world that we already saw and knew! Smallville went through the deepest deep part of clark and supermans heart both at the same time with lana and lois and also with chloe. And did a brilliant job in redefining clark and supermans character. Batman made it there because they redefined Batman and his life with full throttle action and unpredictable events, not to mention the controversies behind the movie. Spiderman made it there because its full of heart that touches and move the viewers. The intimate relation of MJ and Peter with lots of revelation and sacrifices. Jam packed action and great effects and story line of course! Superman returns is good but not good enough compared to those two block buster films. We need a superman movie like in Smallville that touches the heart of millions of viewers and fans. With some revelations and mind boggling twists and turns of events. What is about superman and clark that were never told before, research guys! A classic film that will stay in the heart and mind of every person for a long time! A choice that Clark or Superman never did before that he has to make and a power that he never thought he could have. With the love of his life that he can't live without!! Now, IMAGINE!! And no offense, Tom Welling is a better Clark and Superman than Brandon Routh and Tom has a great version. Make people fell in love again along with the beautiful soundtrack Can You Read My Mind and highlight Superman Movies into different level!

OOOO Yeaaah i love the idea of Dark Superman. Bizarro its dark superman and i want to see superman showing to the world his real face :D :D.... if u want to make sa Dark JL its super OK i love the idea...

No! No dark Superman! No Superman story that has been dark has been good! I mean, "Superman Returns" was dark enough, with the kryptonite stabbing and all.
I think that Superman is badly written in the otherwise great JLU, talking about "cutting loose" all his power, like he's got all this rage inside (yeah, I know he's talking about his powers there, but the implications...) and picking people from their necks and threatengly shining his heat-vision eyes at them. Even Batman would go "Hey, Clark, chill a bit." His personality should be as human as posible, again, the opposite of Batman, whose habilities are very human but his personality isn't, being isolated in his mansion or his cave.
I just think Superman would feel silly acting all dark and I-AM-THE-NIGHT!
I wouldn't even make him fight that much in a potential movie, I mean, is that all we can pretend from a Superman movie? A two-hour fight? What producers should have learned from "Dark Knight" is to make these movies smarter, not to automatically make them darker. I would rather make Superman solve problems of a planetary or cosmic scale, than, say, punch Doomsday in the face the entire duration of the movie.
If producers, directors and writers need some pointers, I would tell them to go read "All-Star Superman".

Are superheros not suppose to have flaws is that why they call them superheros? They dont make mistakes, right?Even though they are in constant conflict within themselevs to give up their powers or save the world.I think that they should show the dark side of superman, why not I mean "superheros"try to fit in with ordinary people they should go through ordinary human dark sides. There in no light with out dark and no good with out evil...

Superman has been the shinning example for other superheros since his creation. If you take that away it won't be superman. He'll just be another guy flying around in a cape. If you want to explore new options with him find out what Superman means to the world and then discuss what Superman means to clark Kent.

Superman is the shining light of the DC Universe! Just standing in his presence is supposed to inspire people to be..... better, better than they ever thought they could be. Please don't do this to Superman.

Batman is different he is supposed to be dark. Kids and adults alike need a good guy (not to say that Batman isn't) they need to see the positive hero. The man that is going to fight for truth, justice and the American way. This is the epitomy of Surman the ability to see the good in mankind, and to do what is right morally and ethically. No matter waht the world thinks. Don't make this dark, we have enough darkness to deal with. Lets keep Superman the icon that he is.

Finally, why not? He might be Kryptonyan but was educated as human and sometimes we show our dark side,it will be interesting to see a darker Lex as well.

Batman is the only comic book hero who should be dark. That style suit Batman more than anything. Superman, on the other hand, is the icon of justice and good. A dark Superman just wouldnt go over to well with fans.

I kinda like the idea of a darker version of Kal. I liked when the Smallville (tv series) Clark didn't take anyone's crap and just did what he wanted

well as we are used to superman stand for what is right so changing his ego will lets us see something different not what he stands for also batman is the dark knight cause it was for years

NO DARK SUPERMAN PLS... GIVE SUPES A CHANCE TO CUT LOOSE ... FIND A SUPERVILLIAN WHO CAN TAKE IT OR GO HEAD TO HEAD ... RATTLE ALL THE DC UNIVERSE ,,, PLS START MAKING YOUR CROSS-OVERS . YOU GUYS ARE SO USELESS ....USELESS.. UNTIL THEN MAKE MINE MARVEL!

dark superman would be dope!!! but i think that he would know when to stop before he gets too bad! but the bad superman only works in a alternate universe!

One of the main things that sets Batman apart is the fact that he is a dark and brooding character, he uses the darkness to his advantage, since he has no powers and must use all advantages that are available.(Wow, that was a run on sentence from hell.) Not only that but Gotham City is supposed to be dark and corrupt city, hence the need for a dark hero to save it. Superman is a big blue boy scout and that can not change. How well did that formula work in Superman III? Aside from fodder for fanboy jokes that are soon followed by the obligatory, "But it wasn't as bad as the Clone issues..." and then a whiny riot of obscure references, it didn't. Batman is dark. Superman is bright and optimistic. Wonder Woman intelligent and strong. Flash is flashy and humorous. Green Lantern is fearless and willful. That is the formula. So they made a movie that sticks with the formula of that character. They should do that, but with that characters formula, not anothers. This is what happens when you have people that make decisions on things they know nothing about.

To BO S.

YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!!!.. I ADMIRE THE WAY HOW YOU EXAMINE AND ANALYZE THE SIMILARITIES AND DIFFERENCES OF EACH CHARACTER. THE DISTINCTION OF EACH ICONS EXISTENCE! THEIR IDEA IS GOOD, BUT IT WILL CREATE A NEGATIVE IMPACT THAT COULD LAST FOREVER, OR PERHAPS IT COULD KILL THE POPULARITY AND GREATNESS OF SUPERMAN IN THE MOVIE INDUSTRY AS WELL AS IN THE HISTORY OF COMICS. I SUPPORT YOU PAL!! KEEP IT COMING!!

superman is one of a kind, but he was raised by humans, so as not to let the world see him suffer they could do a scene with him in the fortress showing his guilt over a difficult choice he had to make, cause in the first one when he pulls lois out of the car and sees her dead that expression of pain done by Christopher Reeve was great....feeling powerless is something we all feel at times but to see it from a being with so much power could be done to great affect and as it being a movie we could see the hero bounce back.

Why not create a story where Lex creates Brainiac.. that way you'll get a twofer... Or simply an Eradicator storyline where he comes from space to show Superman "the error" of his boy scout-ish ways.. Dark is fine.. But what makes a movie a great experience is just a great story, great characters, and, nowadays, great CGI/special effects, even when they're taken out of context from the comics.
