The Golden Compass.
THE GOLDEN COMPASS, a new movie targeted at children, will be released December 7, 2007. This movie is based on the first book of a trilogy by atheist Philip Pullman. In the final book a boy and girl kill God so they can do as they please. Pullman left little doubt about his intentions when he said in a 2003 interview that "My books are about killing God."
The movie is a watered-down version of the first book and is designed to be very attractive in the hope unsuspecting parents will take their children to see the movie -and that the children will want the books for Christmas.
The movie has a well known cast, including Nicole Kidman, Kevin Bacon, and Sam Elliott. It will probably be advertised extensively, so it is crucial that we get the word out to warn parents to avoid this movie.

Besides, I have these books which I read in grade 7, I honsetly cant remember anything that you describe being in it. Its about alternate universes isnt it? Hence the Knife in the second book.
Annoyance. If your faith is so flimsy that it can be swayed by a movie in which god isn't even mentioned, then you never had faith in the first place. Grow a pair and admit that you can't stand to see non-religious people succeed in this world. Crazy zealots like this make me sick. Learn the difference between fantasy and reality.
Ok i went and watched the movie and it was a good movie and i was wishing that they would make another. It's not like it's real. so are you people saying that no one should watch harry potter because it has magic Come on people it's not real you shouldn't have to shelter your kids because there gonna eventually make there on decisions no matter how much you shelter them. Also, I am on The Subtle Knife right now, and I think Pullman describes the church pretty well. Too bad most Christians don't see that. They (or at least alot) think that just because someone is Christian means they can't do anything like rape and murder. Look at the Crusades. That is only one example of extremist Christian's blindness.

The movie was excellent--fun, exciting, and humerous! I loved it. It was a great FICTIONAL movie! Religious institutions are too easily offended these days. This is likely because they fear losing power. I believe in and love God, but I am smart enough to know that there are many, too many, corrupt churches out in the world which care not for people's souls for for their own gain and power over others.
Then as someone who loves God, I suggest that you find one of these churches and pray for them and try to make a difference rather than blast them with negative statements that are very vague. Yes, crime and corruption are in the world, because it is the world and there is some in churches as well, but they only way change will take place so that people can see the difference is if we Christians begin to live a holy life for God as an example.
You know what. My grandmother LOVED Harry Potter! She was the one person that I knew that believed in God and loved her religion. If my grandmother would of seen this show I think she would have liked it. If a women that believed in God so much didn't have a problem with Harry Potter than there is nothing wrong.

You know something. I would not believe the Bible yself if I idnt know that they have found PROOF that at least some of the Bible storys are true. and I trly believe every word of it. and I say CHANGE YOUR LIFE before you wake up i the morning burning up and being lectured by God himself.
If you had bothered to actually read the books before condemning them you would realize that "a boy and a girl kill God so they can do what they want" doesn't even describe the plot line! God doesn't even make an appearance in the books (it's just a really old, powerless Angel...no one in the books know who or where or what God is). If your faith is so easily shaken that a movie is threatening, then you need to take a look at yourself!

The Golden Compass was a beautiful movie. It wasn't real. Neither is Harry Potter or any fantasy movie that comes out. It is a MOVIE?
