Description:

Project Recycle Me is now The Responsible Initiative

Wouldn't it be nice to walk up to the garbage cans at your fast food restaurants and see a recycling bin instead? I need everyone's help on this one. I think together can bring about huge change with this petition.

I want to petition fast food companies across the country and then across the globe to provide recycling opportunities, veracomposting and 100% biodegradeable or compostable packaging materials in all of their restaurants.

Think of the waste associated with fast food (cup/lid/straw/straw wrapper/napkins/wrapper for food/boxes for food/bags for food). All of which are beyond necessary comforts and simply put in place for convenience. These conveniences are part of our biggest problem (Especially in America) it's simply a waste of our precious resources. This is not about Global Warming this is about sustainability. We are living on Planet Earth in a manner she cannot sustain for long. How are we going to make changes to make better use of our resources? I think this is a great starter! Please help me in this important campaign and sign this petition. Tell fast food businessto provide recycling and veracomposting in all of their facilites. In addition tell them you want their pachaginf products to be composed of 100% biodegradeable or compostable materials. Thank you all for your help and please feel free to download a print copy of this petition and circulate it in your community and send a copy to myself with geographic information such as Country/State. I really need all the help I can get on this one! Help bring about real change please help me with this campaign. All suggestions/questions/comments/and signatures are greatly appreciated!

I can't believe there isn't already these recycle bins. If its going to be a law for homes it should also be a law for businesses too. Green is the only way to go in this day and age

I'm not sure this is a good idea. Fast-food places mostly use paper containers, and recycling paper is actually BAD for the environment (The economy too) since it has to be shipped on separate trucks to separate plants (which is rather expensive)and then soaked in bleach and other chemicals to wash off the inks and dyes. The chemicals and inks then get dumped in the river killing all the fish and plant life (except for algae which LOVE pollutants because they kill off everything that eats them, resulting in often toxic algae blooms contaminating the water supply). The paper then has to go through the same type of pulping and pressing as regular paper (though slightly less of it) to become usable again. As another point, a lot of recycling companies are completely corrupt, and rather than dropping off the recyclables at the different plants like they're supposed to, just dump them all in the landfill ANYWAY and pocket the excess gas money for a several hundred truck fleet, which is a fair amount of cash. So I think we should start a petition for a serious crackdown on the less-than-concerned-for-the-planet recycling companies first, before we get money sunk into projects that might not do any good. I'm all for helping the Earth, but let's do it the right way, and all the way.

Seriously, we're all killing ourselves.
Everyone read the Ugly series by Scott Westerfield. so true

Recycle is good but can't they develop some system that allows the trash to be more biodegradableand not live for all eternity.

I'm totally with you, we have to stop ruinning our own planet before it's too late!

SUPER IDEA!, Let's all go GREEN....

I agree 100% ,there would be a less lot trash if restaurants, malls ,ect. would recyclable. good luck!

i agree, and support u guys, go for a green life

Great idea!

I agree! These fast food restaurants need more recycle bins! We need to become more eco-friendly!

I don't think it would be too difficult to do this. food in one place and paper in the other. For most of us, there is nothing left but the paper the food came in.

I agree all take away food outlets & their customers need to recycle their waste.
The outlet should be fined for every branded piece of waste found on the streets.

Olive Garden is another culprit. I watch them throw out countless wine and liquer bottles every time I'm there. I ask the manager why they do not recycle - they aren't equiped to do it was her response. Pretty lame.....

Great Idea....go for it!!!!

This is just a no brainer.

This is a great campaign even though I seldom eat in a fast food establishment, other than occasionaly Starbuchs. Of course it would be a good plan for them also.

count my vote!

Well put!

But of course!!!

totally agreed!!

This is good, but eating less fast food would help as well.

I think another really good idea would be to recycle prescription bottles. I asked workers at a CVS Pharmacy if they did and of course they didn't. My daughter-in-law is a teacher and I had saved various items such as the bottles, tissue rolls, scrap paper etc. I decided against the bottles for fear there would be some leftover/remains of medicine in the bottles. Also, patient presciptions are changed all the time. It would be good if leftover medicatioin could be donated to others who coud use or can't afford it.

I love your idea, it's really great, all people all over the world should recycle, and lets begin with mac donalds and etc.

I agree! Great idea!

YES! AND ALL BUSINESS OFFICES NEED TO RECYCLE!

It's time we start taking action on what affect us and not on others.

Let'stop pointing/judging and start being accountable.

Let's not be litter bugs.

I also have thought the same thing! Good idea!

I've thought that before. Good idea! I support it!

IN Mexico City, every mall and business has recycling trash cans throughout... shame on you USA

I completely agree with everything that this petition says. More people need to come out of their bubble of ignorance and sign petitions like this. Fast food businesses need to stop wasting resources! We only have 1 world!!
