Description:

Project Recycle Me is now The Responsible Initiative

Wouldn't it be nice to walk up to the garbage cans at your fast food restaurants and see a recycling bin instead? I need everyone's help on this one. I think together can bring about huge change with this petition.

I want to petition fast food companies across the country and then across the globe to provide recycling opportunities, veracomposting and 100% biodegradeable or compostable packaging materials in all of their restaurants.

Think of the waste associated with fast food (cup/lid/straw/straw wrapper/napkins/wrapper for food/boxes for food/bags for food). All of which are beyond necessary comforts and simply put in place for convenience. These conveniences are part of our biggest problem (Especially in America) it's simply a waste of our precious resources. This is not about Global Warming this is about sustainability. We are living on Planet Earth in a manner she cannot sustain for long. How are we going to make changes to make better use of our resources? I think this is a great starter! Please help me in this important campaign and sign this petition. Tell fast food businessto provide recycling and veracomposting in all of their facilites. In addition tell them you want their pachaginf products to be composed of 100% biodegradeable or compostable materials. Thank you all for your help and please feel free to download a print copy of this petition and circulate it in your community and send a copy to myself with geographic information such as Country/State. I really need all the help I can get on this one! Help bring about real change please help me with this campaign. All suggestions/questions/comments/and signatures are greatly appreciated!

stop waste

I completely support everything this petition says. More people need to be involved in campaigns and petitions such as this one, and to listen and think and stop being so ignorant. Fast food business need to stop wasting our resources!!!

I agree with everything that this petition says. People need to realise what the real problems in life are. So many people can help with this campaign and others similar to this, but not nearly enough do. So many people think that things such as global warming and the extinction of so many species is just a scam or a joke, but that is because they are intolerant. Those kind of people don't want to listen to anything that might possibly burst their perfect little bubble where they pretend they are perfectly innocent and they don't have to be bothered to do anything. Listen, think, come out of your ignorance and help, please!!!

how about not going to fast food places???

Swingtown is awesome, please bring it back
Hats off to the writers and actors

WHAT ABOUT OTHER MEGA-CORPORATE COMPANIES???? i work for American Eagle and we produce obscene amounts of rubbish. I asked my manager if I could take the rubbish and recycle it myself (almost all of it is paper and plastic used for packaging EVERY INDIVIDUAL CLOTHING ITEM) and apparently it's "against company policy" to recycle and I wasn't even allowed to take the rubbish, as it is the "property of American Eagle." ABSOLUTE ****! HELP ME BRING CORPORATE MACHINES LIKE THIS DOWN!!!

excellent idea

Every apartment building in America should have Recycling bins.

I first off wouold like to thank all of you for you support, comments and input. Thank you for your ideas...without others like you this will not be possible. Please spread the word.

Rebecca and Mary Beth,
I support recycling snd do it myself. However, I don't think most fast food restaurant items can be recycled, since most of them have food or drink on them. My nearby recycling bin only accepts "clean" objects; such as paper, cardboard, metal, glass, plastic. It excludes "garbage" (for example, egg shells, items with any trace of food or drink, etc.).

Every business needs to be aware of their carbon footprint. We've spent so many years not caring about our actions and it will soon catch up with us. It has all ready started.

So look up Eco-cycle, it is located in Boulder and they sell all sorts of compostable cups (hot and cold-made from corn), utensils, plates, straws, etc... Here in Boulder the city has taken the initiative and made curbside composting mandatory and free and as an incentive raised the trash hauling price! A large percentage of the restaraunts and catering companies in Boulder have baen composting for 2-3 years now and recycling for many years before that. Our Farmers Market and many of our summer events are zero waste events and the vendors must only use recyclable or compostable containers. This is being done, it is absolutely possible, it just takes the people in the community demanding it and the local businesses, organizations and governments getting involved and working together to make it happen!

It is a no brainer.... If everywhere else is recycling now why cant fast food restaurants do the same.... If ther current standards get in the way then maybe they should change what they serve their food out of...

Of course we like the idea. The question is--is it really possible? Several others have mentioned the concerns of left-over food and drink and recyclable materials. Bottles and cans are often recycled, but many fast food places don't use those. What can actually be recycled from a fast food place given current standards of recycling?

Recycling in fast food restaurants and shopping malls should be a requirement. If they beleive that it is to expensive then they can do what bars have done for some time now. Let someone come in and place their own bins and they monitor and provide their own people to empty them out or change them as needed. I for 1 would be willing to take the neccessary steps to get involved in this type of recycling due to not only for the obvious reasons but also because the money is good. This I know due to I am a driver for a recycling company.

EVERYONE SHOULD BE RECYCLING! IN MOST OTHER PROGRESSIVE COUNTRIES IT'S ILLEGAL NOT TO. WHAT'S TAKING US SOOOO LONG. OH YEAH, POLITICIANS AND LOBBYISTS.

Recycle! Its enough your causing diseases to many people in the world, so at least help preserving the enviorment!

Please recycle

Wow, why didn't anyone think of this sooner???!! Thank You!

I support having recycling bins in fast-foods. This should be extended to food courts in shopping malls, and everywhere where there are public waste bins. Bottles (glass and plastic) is something really easy to recycle anywhere.

I think there should be recycling everywhere. We need to help our planet every chance we get!

There should be a recycling option in each and every fast food company. I'm suprised it hasn't been done yet. Although it isn't enough to just put recycling boxes in these shops. There needs to be some type of attention put in these companies to draw attention to the importance of recycling, and to get these companies to become more green. Every fast food location should have a recycling bin for paper, plastic, glass and food. Every bit helps, and since these fast food joints are popular all over the world, their part may leave a big foot print. HELP THE PLANET!!!

I so support this. We are the ones dealing with future environment problems. THank you for this.

You are on the right track and I support this movement. Thank you for starting this petition and I hope there is a great response.

This has always been in the back of my mind, and I'm so glad someone has finally acted on it. My only concern is a lot of recycling companies will deny your recycling after a while if it is not washed out and clean, and many people throw away their drink cups with beverages still in them, or food wrappers with remnants of food stuck on them. Might there be a way to sort this out so that recycling can really be worth the cost?

For at least the last 3 months, I have wanted to tell Joy Behar to "lighten up" and "get a life". She is supposed to be a commediane??? I used to love her, she was funny and added to the show, now she sits there with a puss on, attacks Elizabeth whenever anything is said about Obama, and will not listen to anyone elses "view"about any of the candidates. Isn't that what it is all about? I respect her view and opinion, but she should be able to talk nicely about it and not be such a cranky old lady, that's what she reminds me of. The clincher was today when Bill O'Reilly was on and even he could not believe how she has been acting. It was nice to finally see someone put her in her place.

I don't think that we should just recycle our paper and plastics. What about our left over food? While we creating this very important change. We need to have a place for food. What about a composting bin?

Great idea! I'm all for this long overdue step toward long term sustainability.

What a wonderful green idea!
