The Solution to our Dependence on Foreign Oil8 Signatures
Intended Recipient:Presidential Candidates Description:
America has an addiction to oil. It is not secret, but it is a huge problem. So where are all the solutions? Finally, one solution that makes sense. Mr. T. Boone Pickens, a wealthy oil tycoon from Texas has developed "The Pickens Plan" to get this nation energy independent.
The United States has not been doing a great job producing oil in the past few decades. In the 1970's, we inported 24% of our oil. Today, that number has swelled up to a gaudy 70%, costing the county $700 billion a year. Without action, that number will skyrocket to around $10 trillion. So Pickens proposal will lower the price you pay at the pump, plus a lot cleaner for the environment. Pickens claims that as Saudi Arabia is to gas; The United States is to wind. Up to 20% of America's electricity can come from wind. Currently, wind power can account for 4.5 million homes, but the potential is great. As for the solution of foreign oil with natural gas, it will be inexpensive, as low as $1 per gallon in some states. It is also the cleanest transportatoin fuel available today. There are currently 7 million natural gas vehicles in use today, but only 150,000 in the U.S. (www.pickensplan.com) Cleaner air and less of a strain on the economy can be the future, if we can get this plan into action, sooner rather than later. The U.S. can save $700 million and potentially $10 trillion every year and put that money to much better use throughout our country. But first things first, T. Boone Picken's plan to save our country. Sign this pledge if you support The Picken's Plan and want to see it in action as soon as possible.

I support your petition,I feel the U.S, government-Canadian government should have a talk with T. Boone Picken and start a trend, our environment needs a change for the better, just a thought.
There's a lot of untapped ingenuity with wind power. Most people think only in terms of large "wind farms", but micro-wind turbines can very effectively be placed on most "big box" buildings (see http://news.zdnet.com/210 0-9595_22-14673...).
