was not Johhny Carson even older than Leno? has the tonight show not always had the audience of an older and more mature crowd? with TV shows all stearing towards the "younger" crowds, as if the "older crowds" are wilting away with no sense of humor, it is nice to have a solid, traditionally themed show, that shows the realness of the show, without the "lights and lasers" that the new shows of today have. Conan does have his own style which works well for him, but I believe his "style" is not quite in line with the heart and soul of what the tonight show is, was, and should continue to be about...

Few, if any, have worked harder for NBC, than Jay Leno. His work has paid off, keeping NBC the late night leader, for many years. Remember Arsenio Hall, and all the other fools who thought they could beat him? They all remain mere footnotes in the history of late night television. Jay Leno is the only late night host, capable of delivering consistently funny monologues, his "Jay Walking" and "Headlines" segments are genious, and he appeals to a much wider audience, of all ages, than any other competitor. Fake audience members, who "pop out" on Conan's show, to act like jack asses, are not funny, just annoying. My only real complaint with Jay, is that he is sometimes too nice, throwing bones to people who do not deserve appearances on his show. Please Jay, do not allow Gilbert Godfried, Fred Willard, or Howard Mandell do skits on your show again.

I support the Irish! O'Brien all the wasy! He is more funnier than Leno! Leno put the mic down.

i love conan! i watch every chance i get!

I am going to Letterman when Leno goes. Conan used to be funny when he had the insult comic dog and did all of the Clinton stuff with the pictures and the talking mouth. Now, he's just stupid.

You all need to relax, like all of you i am a huge fan of Jay Leno. But i have followed Conan since i was in 9th grade, the guys a genius, went to harvard and im sure when all of you thought shows like SNL and Simpsons USED to be funny it was due to his writing. The guy knows comedy and will be a great addition to the tonight show. Leno has had an amazing career in late night television but he should retire.

According to  Nov 12th Time Magazine, it has been confirmed by NBC that Jay is leaving the Tonight Show in 2009 and being replaced by Conan OBrien.

I agree that Jay Leno is not a Johnny Carson, but he has done a good job, and besides, can 5.8 million viewers be that wrong?

 I have seen Conan O'Brian's show, and well I was not impressed! I think I would rather move to Africa and watch for a snowfall.

Now here is something to ponder: What if Jay Leno should go to another network. How many of those 5.8 million viewers would make the move with him?

Hmmmmm............NBC might want to re-think the situation.

 

The ONLY thing I find funny at all about Conan's show is when he drives the desk.  I give him credit for that.  However, I agree with Betty's comment below.  His intro is lame, and the jumping is so ... expected.  At least his hair jumps WITH him!  I can't stand it when he points to himself like he sizzles.  He needs to be on anti-anxiety medication or something.  He buttons and unbuttons his suit jacket 9 million times.  It drives me crazy!  I just think Jay Leno is awesome, and TRULY comedic and spontaneous.  If Conan takes over, I'll die .... or just go to bed early.

Conan is a "court jester".  He should join the circus then someone may enjoy his jumping. I've never seen a good intro.  Conan always slams Max Weinberg, no matter what Max says.  Just watch. Same old, same old...."We've got a good show tonight & a lot to talk about".  How stupid.  Conan makes me want to hurl.  I will try hard to get used to Letterman if Conan does take over for Leno.

Conan is a beast. He is funny and just plain awesome. Jay Leno is cool and all but the only reason i started watching him was because there was nothing else on until Conan. Jay is to serious and he makes fun of his guest to often in a harsh way. I think the skits are better than him, like Ross and that one dude from the Sopranos guessing thing.Conan is silly and can make fun of himself. Jay is a cool dude but I find Conan cooler.

Jay Leno should stay the host of the tonight show. Why mess with success.  Conan is too goofy.  I hate his intro.  When he talks to the guests he isn't too bad, but the intro stinks.  That jumping and all is stupid in my opinion.  KEEP
