Description:
The chemical Bisphenol A is coming under increased scrunity. It is suspected that the chemical leeches out of plastic containers and into foods and liquids. The chemicalacts similar to the hormone estrogen and interferes with normal hormone levels. Studies have shown that exposure to large amounts of BPA have a greater risk of developing breast cancer, decreased sperm coutns and prostate cancer. It is suspected that babies and children are at the greatest risk from exposure.
On top of that, only about 12% of plastic bottles that are manufactured even make it to be recycled. The rest end up in landfills where they don't decompose and continue leeching chemicals into the environment.
